That was some elevation, and a great view, to escape this rainy day, thanks for sharing your adventure.

Thanks for watching Rachel! I was fortunate to have very clear weather the week I explored this area making for great views. Nearby Round Mountain, in my opinion, has even better views but is a longer 3.7 miles from the trailhead to the summit. That video can also be found on this channel. Best wishes

Thanks for watching Gene! I was blessed with perfectly clear skies the day I climbed Crane Mountain in early October. The steepness of the access road (Ski Hi Road on most maps) and the trail itself could make this a difficult hike in the winter. I have always used maps to navigate when hiking in unfamiliar areas and carried a paper copy that day because of unreliable cell service in most of the Adirondack Park. The DEC does a decent job of marking most trails with colored plastic disks as shown in this video so it is probaby not essential to have a trail map to reach the summit of Crane Mountain following the red markers. There were several unmarked trails near the start of this hike and around the east side of Crane Mountain Pond that could prove confusing but the marked trail was easy to find and follow. Good Luck
