Saw the eclipse in Southern Indiana (Brown County State Park). Almost 4 minutes of totality and it completely blew my mind. Such a cool experience.

Glad you had clear skies for a once in a lifetime eclipse! I hiked at Brown County in 2021 recording Yellowwood trees...almost as rare as an eclipse. Thanks for watching

Traveled to Bloomington Indiana for the eclipse, stopped at the Lewis and Clark Falls of the Ohio Center also, both were awesome, we were in the centerline of totality approximately 4 1/2 minutes of darkness

I am thankful you were blessed with clear skies for such an amazing event. Falls of the Ohio is one of the most spectacular fossil reefs in the world. I stopped there in 2016 en route to Louisville when the river was low. Acres of mostly horn coral fossils were visible due to the low water! Thanks for watching

Sure wish you were a short hike leader. Great to be with someone who knows so much. Am also in this area. Let me know if you know of a group like this. Thanks.

Thanks for watching Steve! Perhaps leading group hikes could be in my future. Right now I enjoy producing these videos but need to carefully splice my outings with my other responsibilities. It is often a 'game day decision' as to where I explore based on the weather and the amount of time I have. The Connecticut chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club offers outings of all lengths but I am not sure how much natural history they discuss on their hikes. The Last Green Valley organization schedules dozens of hikes in the spring and fall. Most are less than 3 miles and usually have very knowledgeable leaders. That organization covers all of Eastern Connecticut and parts of Western Rhode Island as well as the Sturbridge Mass. area. Best wishes

    Is there Gold in Connecticut?

Thank you for watching! There is supposed to be trace amounts of gold in the metamorphic rocks in Western Connecticut but not enough to make mining worth the effort. The area around Cobalt in Central Connecticut is supposed to have larger deposits of Gold that they stumbled on when mining for Cobalt and Nickel in that area. It might be intersting to pan around in the brooks flowing off Great Hill in that area to see what's there. Be advised that Great Hill has public access on Meshomasic State Forest lands and the Shenipsit trail but also a population of Timber Rattlesnakes. Best wishes
