Remembering Flight 1549

On January 15, 2009, U.S. Airways Flight 1549, en route from LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, North Carolina, landed on the Hudson River in sub-zero temperatures. The American Red Cross responded immediately with blankets, hot drinks, sweat suits, socks and health and mental health support for passengers and crew members who evacuated to the New York Waterways Terminal in Manhattan.

I didnt kniw Sully wrote a book w the late, great Jaffrey Zazlow (car wreck, 2012). He wrote as good as Krakauer.

Our parents - retired - aged 57 and 62 - volunteered for FIVE years for the ARC, flying (mind you, our mother- not too fond of) to disasters across the U..S. - staying up 24 hours at a time to ‘man’ the shelters.
