Great interview. Thanks for pulling that shooting story out of him. I was on the edge of my seat. Great storytelling.

Great podcast, we need more medical training on the LEO side. Also training for communities like Stop the Bleed etc. Here is a link to the book mentioned, when I got hired our agency did an entire class based on it for our family members. It still helps my wife 18 years later.

Such a good point made when he says guys will have a bunch of ARMS but no medical kit because it's too expensive. My truck bag cost about $3000 to build, and yes there are some things alot of folks wouldn't have as I am a classically trained nurse, (gave up on that career when "the thing" was forced but that's a different story). These bags can save the life of people very dear to you, With Training! Obviously it takes time, money and effort, but if your child or spouse is having a medical emergency, you'll be forever grateful you invested. With all the crazy laws and cashless bails that are taking place, this world will only get crazier, and as the guest said..."most medics don't go into hot zones"!
I can't imagine having a family member dying in the house and an ambulance is parked blocks away waiting for the "All Clear".

On top of that the training is a lot more difficult. If you don't regulalrly refine your medical skills they will perish.

@@user-tp4fr4ij1p Absolutely! I think it's kinda ironic that "gun guys" who don't buy into "the police will always take care of you" theory, would buy into, "the ambulance will always come to save you" idea. Seems like a massive overlook to me, but to each their own I recon!

You REALLY should link to any OIS that the guest are involved in. Especially if the body cams are already released!! Yeah I’d love him to critique my medkit too Lol

Hey there man, I got some advice for you. To make the podcast better. Think I like about Joe Rogan and his podcast or others is that they let the guests speak. You cut in a lot. A better podcast is the one where the guest elaborates more. You don't let them with your cutoffs

I’m in the academy now and we just finished first aid. This was insanely interesting. Thankfully Florida is pretty good and doesn’t do the bare minimum. Good episode.

Did they let you use one of those 12 thousand dollar arterial dummies? I learned crike and tourniquet on one. I guess the compressor was broken for the sucking chest wound

It should be normalized through training that cops will be interviewed and autographed after a shooting, to lessen the traumatic effect.

To be honest watched a Mike Rutland podcast after this one and I enjoy this guy much more. Mike just isn’t it for me. Good pod again man, in a sheriffs department right now hopefully I’ll get on SWAT eventually.

What’s even worse is when you check them or you check yourself and you don’t see anything and there’s still it really doesn’t happen but it does we can be hit and it’s internal bleeding and you don’t see it externally

Punches right thru and they don’t even know how bad it is. I think it’s one bonus of that quick release plate carrier latch. You can actually check their torso fully and it doesn’t take ten minutes
