Dude, most videos I have to turn up the speed to at least 1.5, and even then I click on the timeline to speed things up. This one is dense like reading a physics paper. I have to pause and reflect, pause and replay... there's so much good information in it!

I wish I had run across this a week ago! What a powerful and relatively hidden, set of tools! I needed bold, block text, with a dark blue stroke (outside only) a black drop shadow and a gradient white stripe, horizontally through the blue faces of the letters. For the project, I ended up doing it in layers, one to get the clean black drop shadow, one to get the gradient (using the color controls, to blow gain up to white, under a softened power window), and then a third with the faces keyed out, to add the dark stroke (without gradient) over the top.
Ultimately, it was the same result (and with the learning curve, perhaps the same amount of time), but this is much more elegant and now, I have to take back all of the bad things I muttered about Davinci not having more powerful text tools :p

I just spent hours looking for a way to change formatting of specific words/characters... Seems like it would be simple, but, as you said, you'd probably never find it. I searched like crazy, read a bunch of unrelated forum posts, tried adding HTML tags, tried learning and adding expressions, tried finding a way to do it with Lua, bringing over other text from a different formatted text node... etc. Then, after giving up and moving along, TH-cam recommends this to me.
Thanks a bunch! (several of your other videos have been helpful as well, so thanks for those too!)

Great stuff! Another suggestion... A year ago I looked for a tutorial on how to do a cinemagraph in resolve, and there wasn't one. It's easy enough to translate from one program to another, but it'd be nice to see a resolve specific video. 😊

I've never been so intrigued and lost at the same time. Earlier today, I decided I want to make a montage (montages in 2018... I know) and was looking into a free video editing software. I have never edited anything before and all of this is way out of my comfort zone, as I still have to learn the basics of the program, but this will definitely come in handy later when I have a more general understanding of what I'm doing. Thanks for this. I'm gonna sub and peruse through your older content until I get a grasp of the rudiments.
    Take care.

I love everything you're showing here, especially the text effects at about 9:00. As someone completely new to text effects, I'm finding it really hard to track everything that you're doing. For instance it took me a while to figure out that I needed to have the merge node visible, and I had a lot of trouble seeing how you were selecting a single character because things were jumping around so much. I'm really glad you've covered this though, it's very helpful.
