"Duck to h6 exclamation mark" 🤣🤣🤣 Love it. It was fun to watch. I was avoiding watching duck chess videos until now, but when I saw ChessVibes made a duck chess video, I decided to watch, and I'm glad I did. :-)
6:43 Saccing the queen is the only move in that position and is actually not even that bad, since black has two horses for the queen (horses are extremly op in duck chess). If black played Re8 Duck f8 with the idea after Qxh7 King f8 since you would have to move the duck, he would still be losing. Because you could play Qxf7 Duck h8.
Why would black play Duck f8 at all? Doesn't this only block their own King's movement, just as it did in the video where Nelson played that to ensure checkmate?
@@xCorvus7x The point is if the opponent placed the Duck on f8, Nelson cannot keep the Duck on f8 and, by rules of Duck Chess, is required to move it elsewhere.
actually, the duck does not duck. it stands its ground. if the duck ducked, it would not be able to block attacks. the duck's sole purpose is to not duck.
It's interesting that in duck chess you get an indication of what your opponent doesn't want you to do. (and you also expose the same thing to your opponent)
At 5:20 could have gone for the checkmate by moving the knights up and putting the knights to g5 and duck on h6 to counter the pawn defense. He has to lose the queen to defend it. Use the duck to prevent their counter moves and also to put it in the place where you want it to not be next turn.
The first game, this is the first time I've seen the duck used in an attacking way. Eric Rosen goes on about how it's an excellent defending piece (and it is), but this was super unique! Happy I watched :)
@Chess Vibes I have A Puzzle: black pawn a7 and h7 white pawn: h2,g2,f2,c2,b2 and a4 Black queen: e4 Black knight c6 Black rooks: d8 and h8 Black king: g7 White bishop: c4 White knight: e3 White rooks :d1 and h1 White king: e1 Black Wins. please do use this puzzle.
Just quack, quack, quack yay duck chess finally and ChessVibes i always watch your videos And i get most of the puzzles right i love your content also i have improved a lot by watching your videos thanks
4:50 This duck chess makes predicting moves so hard, but how about 9. Qh5Dg6 ... 10. Ng5Df6 ... 11. Qxh7#? Although I think 9. Qh5Dg6 f5Dg5 does prevent mate by using the knight. Just a few thoughts, I'm only rated 850 and I don't know how predictable this line of reasoning even is. Edit: 7:57 never mind, maybe I spoke too soon lmao
Interesting variation. Too busy getting a grip on my regular chess skills, but the idea of hindering your opponent’s moves (castling, developing, escape routes) or even putting the duck on your “next go-to” square, thus prohibiting your opponent to take that square ór even block/duck it on their next move, is quite intriguing… 🤔
If you're looking for an interesting puzzle, search for Steinitz Gambit by Sam Loyd. Haven't seen it on youtubenso ypu might be the first and it's truly amazing puzzle.
When I was a kid my step-brother had us play a game he called duchess: chess, but each player plays two moves in a row. At one time somebody decided that chess had been "solved" and there was nothing new to be discovered, and they started playing with different starting positions. Now we've got duck chess. I say "Nuts to all of that." Give me plain old chess any day!
If coupling the King and rook is called "Castle", then moving the King to 1 side and placing the duck on the other side is called "Quackle".
And to castle reinforced with the duck in some way, 'ducking'?
@@samuels1123 DuckAstle!
yes
@@JLvatron Also, unlike a rook, you basically have an invincible piece.
Unfortunately, the duck can be used for the enemy so it ain't gonna last.

imo in duck chess if a rook is worth 5 points then the knight is worth 7

the only duck chess video that I actually watched
Same here.
5:39 This is a mistake, Nelson. Black actually wants to trade a bishop for the knight as knights are better than bishops in this variant.

Rook e8 isn't a counter move because your put the duck there to block the escape

But what if Duck Chess and Atomic combined?
I like how even at 1500 people still forget about how castling weakens the king and they need to prevent it
I saw the win before you did. I suck at chess, so I'm proud of myself. Maybe watching chess videos, even casually, really does improve one's game.
Seems like smothered mates should be really easy to get with this variant
