Minutes 3-8 is some of the best wisdom I’ve heard from a tech video in a very long time! We have to people minded first. That’s how great things get done! Nice job!
Thanks for making the time to put this together, especially for free. I think it’s unfortunate that big name groups, ie bethel music, etc have capitalized off their drum tones and just over all secrecy of their mixes by asking you to sign up for costly video courses and subscriptions. Thanks for doing this!
This is one of the dreams for me, to be in an environment where everyone strives for excellence, everything is top notch. Just a tad bit surprised I didn't hear any drums. 😅
Wish we could somehow show you what it sounds like in person 🥲 Check out the link in the description to hear a live stream from the Tulsa campus though.
Love mixing on the SSL. I also use the blitzer on my parallel drum buss. I recently used the submonix on my kick channel and it was incredible along with the enhancer on my keys. The onboard effects are incredible, you really don’t need waves!
Hey! In reference to the vocal chain I explained in the live premiere that although I am using a high ratio its threshold is really only catching the high peaks. So it’s not engaging very much until the vocal is very very hot. It’s not really compressing a lot. Good catch though!
ok, nice video, now lets talk tech......Vocal chain and the COTM link to "We Crown You". 1. are the dynamics all onboard the SSL or are you going out to a waves server? 2. The "We Are Crown" video, Are the COTM videos live off the console or "re-touched" in post and then re-posted to youtube? If straight off the desk, what is the reverb you were using and was it blended with the house mics?....... more to follow :)
At our Tulsa Church we’re using Waves. The EQ, Comp, Desser are all on the SSL. Waves is being used for PSE, F6, and CLA2A. All recordings are live off the console. Nothing gets done on the post side. We run monitors & broadcast from FOH.
I'm not sure what high-pitched noise you're talking about. Might check things on your end because we can't hear it on any of our listening devices. Unless your talking about the ambient noise of the room like the A/C and such. Not much we can do about that.
Thanks Johnathan. On your broadcast feed is it a separate matrix on the board or the same that goes to your mains? In other words, are you having to mix two separate mixes, on for FOH and the other on headphones for the broadcast?
Can someone explain the reasoning behind the trend of multiple services (often the same service is duplicated)? I am in a traditional Sunday AM, and Sunday PM (Different services. Different feel, different songs, and sermons. Still for everyone.) and midweek setup, and everyone is expected to be at the services. Obviously, no one is reprimanded for missing some for work and life lol, but the services are intended for everyone. This is how the majority of churches like mine run. Whats the idea behind the trend of so many services on a Sunday morning.
It's the solution to your congregation outgrowing your building way faster than you can move into a bigger one. We recently just added a second service at our church despite not wanting to, because we literally did not have enough room to accommodate the growth, and are not at a place where we can just go move into a bigger space.
do you have any recommendations on where to learn about power and power distribution? I've also had trouble finding good training on Rigging that didn't require you to already be part of some touring company... got any recommendations on that, too?
But I do feel sorry for the drummers... With such a high level of acoustic sound, you should really take care of the drummers. Hearing health problems etc.
In regards to the subs: The KS21's mentioned in the video are the ones that are flown behind the PA. The ones under the stage are SYVA Subs.
I knew they were a SYVA Sub’s under the stage. KS21’s have a box like shape.

I agree! When people and their discipleship to Christ is the focal point, it's very easy to get on the same page and move forward!
Just finding this… so well spoken! Knows his stuff!!!
Daniel is my boy. Not only a genius sound engineer, but a dope drummer too!

I love your videos, you share alot of knowledge and you're so composed and a very good listener. keep it going.

@@collabworship I did! Liked the sound of the toms, but it sounded alright, probably sounded amazing in person.
@@tonylancer7367 It reallly did! Sadly, you can just never properly translate live drums on a recording being viewed on a small device 🫤

I wish it had an onboard vocal tuner though
Best team in tha game 🙌🙌🙌🙌
how tall is the drum shield? what dimensions are each panel? Love the simple design.
Kade is 6' tall and it's a little shorter than him in the footage, so prob like 5'10" if I had to guess. -Dillon
34:20 X32/M32 users - check out the Combinator and how it can be a dynamic EQ. And Wing users and up will have Dyn EQ.
Mike Reynolds is a great guy!!
Please could we get more of this videos please
Could we also see the video side of this??
We don't have a lot of money....also we provide all the kemper modelers....lol. What a blessing though!
It's all relative lol. Blessing for sure though.
incridible church i m bass and tenor i d like to form part of membership there where is it ?
"little bit of conpression" as we are looking at a near inf:1 ratio haha
Yes I saw that too. The threshold is high so when it hits it slams! Ha ha.

Can we know what platforms they were using for their keys rig? Thanks
I love these types of videos. But the entire video has a nasty high pitch ringing the ENTIRE TIME. Please fix that for next time.

No loud noise on my end.

Check out this segment from Johnathan's video about how they do their live stream: th-cam.com/video/Vn0-lnCHMQ0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nMnUIb2gE9BVIxJ0&t=1436
Not sure what model those subs are under the stage. The KS21 subs are the ones flown behind the A10 tops
SYVA Subs are under the stage.
I’d love a look at how to do the parallel drum comping on an A&H board like a dLive
We are for sure planning to get him back for a detailed video on that!

The KS21 sub is probably the one in the air. The KS21 is a single 21".
That is correct
The KS21's mentioned in the video are the ones that are flown behind the PA. The ones under the stage are SYVA Subs.

Reach out to DCPro. They can give some direction.
But I do feel sorry for the drummers... With such a high level of acoustic sound, you should really take care of the drummers. Hearing health problems etc.
They are provided with custom-molded in-ears which typically block out around 26 decibels of ambient noise. So they are taken care of.
