For how big Subnautica is it’s really impressive how good it looks on the Switch
It's not really a big game it can run on an old Intel hd 4600.
Runs better than Minecraft, that's for sure
@@GgGg-xw3hj well new games can run on about anything now. like minecraft was great cuz u could run it on a laptop when it first came out. this is because ur not rendering the whole map as big as it is, you’re never looking at the whole map anyways. same with gta 5 it looks so good on a xbox 360 because ur looking at about 100meters max.

i know you said this before it came out, but i’ve started playing it on my switch and it runs incredibly, i personally haven’t had any issues or glitches at all and it looks really good too
I remember the first time they showed the game on Switch I thought it looked horrible and fell right in line with all the other half baked ports on the Switch but looking at this gameplay here is like a total 180, I'm very impressed by this port.
It’s really cool to see the creator of Fish Splish do the video adaptation of this review. It’s a nice little connection since Subnautica clearly took inspiration from it. It shows that he’s grateful for the impact his game has had on the gaming industry and will showcase the games inspired by his, and I can respect that.
Adored the first Subnautica. Played it all the way through in VR.
I will NEVER forget the terror I had when I first encountered a leviathan swimming around and that roar!!! O.o I am HYPED for the sequel, I'm just bummed VR didn't come this time around as well... It really shines when you look around nervously for where the sound came from!
There's a mod on Nexus that allows VR in Below Zero. They also said that they were planning to add full motion controls in the mod, but it's been a while so I am not sure if that's in the mod yet.

I am so hyped for the full release to come I have waited 2 years, FYI I play on pc. but playing on the go is gonna be so cool. Also am I the only one that thinks that save data transfer should be a thing, so that if your at home you can play on your pc and if you go on vacation or somewhere away from home you can just take your switch with you and the save files are the same on pc and switch.

Should be a standard for any multiplat releases on the switch IMO, I don't own the console but can see how it would be a great addiction since most people own Nintendo platforms/handhelds as a secondary gaming device.
A few games actually do that, I haven’t tried it but I believe Hades does it and there are other examples out there. It could possibly be patched in later, but it’s still an uncommon feature, unfortunately.

As nice as that would be it is extremely difficult to do and in most cases is simply impractical. The fact that some indie developers even port their games to Switch to begin with is marvel enough due to how different the architecture is. Usually the PC game is well ahead of the Switch/console versions due to the extra time it takes to convert PC updates and in some cases the port isn't even being made by the same people.
My copy of the double pack arrived this afternoon. Several hours into the first game and I'm so pleased with my purchase. It's great!
Nice! The big box retailer I pre-ordered from decided it's good company policy to ship pre-orders on day of release (in the fine print of course) despite the game page saying "may arrive as early as May 14." Yes that magic same day delivery. Not even shipped day before release? Come on. Never again Best Buy.
Do both games come installed on the cartridge or is there a download?
Both are on the cartridge, no download besides a small system update. The two games do appear as separate squares in your game menu though.

The coming out of the capsule moment is really impressive for the Switch. And I can't help but notice that the game's resolution seems pretty close to 1080p. Pretty incredible.
Below Zero does look 720pish though.
Should be fine for users who play handheld like I do. I only wish it had stable frames

I think it’s worth adding here that the experience is doubled wearing a good pair of headphones. Actually being able to hear it that much better really adds to the chill vibe, and also the the total dread and terror you experience
I can't believe how good it looks on switch. I expected alot of blurry textures but it actually looks like a really good port.

Great review! To all those still deciding, absolutely nothing has been given away here, there is so much to see and do - especially in the first game. The story is spectacular.
im curious if the bugs transfer over from pc to switch. Were you able to see your base from thousands of miles away? did sudden features (like the tall rocks in the red grass area) suddenly pop into frame when youre barely a meter away from it?

It is worth mentioning that crashes and sometimes even savefile corruption is a common issue.
I’m glad this has been released on so many systems. I remember running this game much worse on pc when it came out in alpha. (Yes, I had a good pc at the time, just a rough start for it haha). Absolutely love this series.

@@rainqueens1731 Okay so my verdict on performance is that it actually runs a lot better than I had anticipated. Keep in mind I have only been running it in docked mode though. Occasionally you do get short freeze frames. Especially when using the habitat builder I've experienced short freeze frames when just starting to construct, or deconstruct. The frame rate is surprisingly very consistent, though that is being compromised with some higher detailed objects occasionally spawning just a few meters in front of you. Overall though, I am super impressed with how stable this runs on the switch, I haven't experienced anything in the performance or graphics yet that I would call outright annoying or game breaking. This is definitely worth your money in my opinion.
The only thing that is a tiny bit annoying gameplay wise is trying to catch those tiny fish with a controller instead of keyboard and mouse, but you get used to it.

I wonder how far the switch can take in term of base building... i'm playing on PS4 and loading time seems to take rather long lately, especially after i spent a few hours building that random underwater hotel 😒

I have this on PC, but definitely need to upgrade it in order to play it properly. Can't wait until that happens!
My only question is how bad is the motion sickness? I have both games on pc and have the camera slow and all that to be able to play. But on switch I imagine it would be bad (splatoon 2 is not something I can ever enjoy 😔). Anyone have any input on this?
Subnautica is my favorite game of all time, I’ve played hundreds of hours between the two of them on PC and was ecstatic when I heard it was coming to switch. The game is so immersive and exhilarating and taking that on the go is a miracle.
Love this port for Switch. Bought Below Zero for PS5 but may just get on Switch as well as I’m in shock how good the first runs in handheld. Sucks no he rumble 😩

The double pack is only for the physical version, if you get them digitally, you have to get them seperately.

So I assume they'll actually be fully contained on the physical edition as they fit on a 16GB card? I just looked up the PC versions, they managed to shave off additional ~50%. Really neat.

I never thought that subnautica and it’s sequel would look so good on switch. I expected the game to run like Metroid Samus Returns for 3ds, but it seems way better than that.

Edit: I noticed something weird with the switch version of both subnautica games. When you are playing them, they have smaller text popping up underneath the game title when you look at your profile screen. Just saw it saying "exploring the safe shallows" or something like that similar to the nes and snes online games showing what specific game you're playing.
Yeah there should be the option of buying both games in a pack digitally on the eShop
Yep, that text just shows extra detail at where you are in the game. Your friends can then see where you’re exploring

Actually after reading other comments, it seems only the physical versions come in a bundle. You could still get them separately digital if you want though.

So i have a problem.... i logged out below 300m in the water so everytime i try to go in to that save ,it crashes. Is there anyway to report this to the devs or give feedback about it? I dont wanna lose my progress since i already have alot of stuffs including cyclops,valuables and etc. Can anyone help?

For any of you who is starting this game on the Switch, there is a save bug affecting many people. Your game will crash upon loading when you last save in any vehicle. My first save file got corrupted because I saved in the Cyclops. There is a reddit post about it and it seems that many people encounter this bug by saving in the seamoth, cyclops, and prawn suit. I am currently playing my second save file with some crashes. I have been diligent not to save in any vehicles which doesn't cause any problem. The developers have already sent a patch to Nintendo. We are all just waiting for Nintendo to send in the patch update

I absolutely love this game on my Nintendo switch however below zero is constantly crashing on me sometimes after just five minutes of play time making it hard for me to enjoy the game experience :(. And it isn't my switch that's messed up because all my other games run with no issues at all, and I own below zero digitally on my switches micro sd card.
After such a long time, do the crashes still occur? or was it fixed?

Edit: That coverart though, lol. There's a reason why it's in 1st person, the player characters don't looks very good, stylistically. Bonus points for only putting one protagonist on there, either both or none if you ask me.

I really can't believe we have subnautica on the go. And it's sequel. Thanks again for the great video I pre ordered both of these games and thanks to your video it convinced my girlfriend to get both of them and we are both having a blast thanks again.
For those who've gotten Subnautica for the switch, is it good?
Is it better than the ps4 version? I'm not talking about graphics and all that, I could care less about that. I'm talking about the games optimization for the switch. Because the ps4 version was simply horrendous. Framerate drops frequently just by opening and closing lockers and doors. Areas and progression would reload whenever I close the game and start it again.
For example; I've finished the Sea emperor storyline and saved the game. But when I load my save the entire thing had to be redone! I literally had to open the barriers with the cubes and artifacts which are now gone because I used them already. Then when I redid all of this I had to meet up with the sea emperor again and do the searching all over again to hatch the eggs.
I want to play the game but I don't have a good pc. So the console versions would be my only alternative
The game runs stable in terms of framerate, but there are issues with crashes and savegame corruptions. I would advise staying away from it till its fixed.

It's kind of like breath of the wild where having it in handheld mode is super impressive but when its in docked mode its just okay. Games still absolutely amazing. Also the original is way better, below zero kind of threw out the whole idea of isolation and it way smaller and a bit more linear. Multiple tiers below the original.

Wasn’t happy with the performance on my gaming laptop and the size of the screen I had. So doubtful I will be blown away by the (so far) handheld oriented version with reduced graphics.

Below Zero crashes more and more frequently as you progress in the game. I have 2 days 14 hours of play time and it crashes every 30 minutes and sometimes SAVING TRIGGERS THE CRASH. Due to them, my Switch says 170 hours played but the game says 62. That's a lot of hours lost to crashes!
Panic Button apparently had a hand in this port.

Don't save on the sub in the first game guys. It'll crash on load, test in creative mode to see for yourselves.

Subnautica is the original game, you should buy that first. But subnautica goes on sale often on Xbox/PC and is free on ps4 so you might want to do that instead and buy below zero on the switch

@@davidlopezmartin12 If you can buy both of them. From what I have understood there are connections (for example the games take place on the same planet story-wise) but there still is a time skip between the two. Although for fans that played the first game and understood the story with all its subplots they probably put some interesting connections to spice up the experience of veterans because the gameplay doesn't change that much.

Subnautica is one of my favorite games on Xbox one. It freezes every few seconds of traveling which is super annoying. I honestly expect it to run even worse on switch.
Freezes? That sounds like either ur xbox is a potato or u have alot of stuff built on ur world

Just played the original on PS4. What a wonderful game but wow, it was borderline unplayable because of the glitches.
Do the worse graphics hurt the immersion? I really want to play this game, but Switch is the only console I have right now.

Although you can buy it in a bundle. You can save yourself a wee bit of money by buying them separately. I got 10% off Below Zero for buying subnautica. It's only around £2.50 but it's better than nothing.

I was thinking of getting them for switch but now that I’ve seen what they look like on switch the frame rates look too low
I was a bit concerned because y’know. It’s subnautica. On... a switch... A. SWITCH. So seeing the not crap graphics and decent not laggy gameplay is a godsent. I could get it on ps4 or switch but it’s way cheaper on switch and i can play it more. So I think I’ll go with that.

Edit: I’d also say it subnautica didn’t run that great on my ps4. By that I mean it froze and crashed and it’d take a minute to load in certain things but it seems the exact same on switch so. Sub zero here I come

It depends. Below Zero is more streamlined, has a better story, smaller map and is way less scary.
If you haven't played either, enjoy the frightfullness and don't mind some inconviences I would recommend the Original since it has way more stuff to explore.
Of course you could be unlucky and have constant crashes and savefile corruptions...
I want to know what kind of dark combination of eldritch magich and aliën tech they had to pull out of their arse to make this port work so god damn well. Seriously, Every other developper who ported a laggy game to switch with the excuse the game was too large should look at subnautica and think to themselves "Yeahh... we done goofed... We could've done better"

@@GgGg-xw3hj with good graphics? Cause my old computer certainly couldn't. That was a 30 FPS experience on lowest settings
@@sashashadowhive6128 Switch is running the game between low and medium, water look good but biomes and textures are set on low, there are no shadows and the render distance is even worse than low settings on PC (maybe because the switch only have 4GB ram, so the game render less). Also when you are in an underwater structure the game can drop under 24fps on switch.
For a game that can run on a 2011-2012 hardware this isn't really impressive and it's only a 8gb game on PC and it's only 5gb on the switch, this is clearly not an heavy game.
You technically have the same experience as on your old computer (low/medium at 30fps).
