- Let's completely overanalyze one of the new summer 2022 LEGO Minecraft sets - the Nether Bastion! The set looks promising with the inclusion of a Strider, Magma Cube, Piglin, Piglin Brute, and new player skin. Does it live up to all the hype?

considering what the nether is often seen as an allegory to, it would'nt suprise me if the skinned player is meant to be a "doom guy" reference
That would be really cool if it was - certainly not out of the question! I bet there's a lot of subtle references in these Minecraft skins to be honest.
I dont know about you but i think the sentence "skinned player" is kinda dark

The design for the magma cube is so creative and satisfying. I also wanted to let you know that I think you are one of the best LEGO creators out there. Keep up the great work.

would be cool if they did it for normal slime too it would be unique
@@demoe1966 I may be mistaken but I do not believe that the slime splits into multiple segments when it jumps in game.
Honestly my favorite thing in the set is the cooked porkchop, I don’t know why but I never really realized we never got one. We’ve had chicken legs to represent cooked chicken, and steak pieces to represent raw mutton (I think?) so now maybe we could get recolors of the 1x2 round tile in pink to be a raw porkchop, and in brown to be cooked beef.
The new piece would be great for a lot of Minecraft items! It would just be great to get more colors as well as I feel it'll be useful for all sorts of MOC detailing

@@zOOpygOOpert It looks very different from minecraft steak. Looks a lot more like raw mutton but I don’t think it was ever used in a set. I must’ve seen a minecraft moc with that piece in it.

Really feel like this set should've been more akin to the mountain set from years ago. Nether bastions are MASSIVE
While that could have been really cool, I do appreciate how affordable this is. It wouldn't be too hard to pick up 3-4 of this set and make a more proper Bastion for the same price, but probably double the mobs than a bigger set would have come with!
@@CheeseyStudios with how bastions generate, they could've released this set as the "bridge" bastion, then release a massive "treasure" or "housing" bastion
You know my grandma would just not have gotten that I th ink both should exist this could be an expansion then they make a d2c bastion sets

I just found your channel and oh my god it’s refreshing to see somebody go over every portion of the set. And to really say that some parts are stronger than others. I will most likely pick up at least two of this set, since I want to make a custom bastion but I’ll have to go to bricklink to get the bricks.

I think that although the price the amount of variety of nether pieces were great! A blue flame, more pigging, another magmacube...so much to enjoy.

There are two new 1 x 2 round tile colors, the first one is the creamy color which you said represents cooked porkchop, it will also be in the llama village set. While the other one is color tan and it's in the set bakery which obviously represents bread.

Great review of the set. Unfortunate that it had to be a part of LEGO's general price increase, but it's still worth just about what you pay. Looking forward to your next Minecraft MOC.
Yeah, Minecraft fared alright in the price hikes, especially compared to some of the other themes - yikes!
This definitely my favorite Minecraft set of the year! The Magma cube is just SO satisfying to play with! The Guardian Battle is a close 2nd though & The Skeleton Dungeon is 3rd.
It was a really good year for Minecraft sets. Looking forward to next year's lineup!

The hype for this one is definitely not unwarranted. There's so many cool parts and builds in this set. Hopefully Bricklink sellers start parting them out soon lol

Love this set, pairs great with the Warped Forest and Ruined Portal for a pretty nice Nether
It sure does! I think a lot of the Nether sets have really been bangers.
I just recently picked up a few Minecraft sets from the last couple waves now they're on sale, will definitely buy this one in a few months when it's price is more reasonable. It should connect really nicely with my ruined portal and warped forest sets! Love the channel, can't wait for tomorrow's video!
A man with patience - I respect it! I feel pretty guilty when I go to the store and see all the sets I bought at full price last year now 20-30% off. Oh well lol. But yes, this is a must for a Minecraft display and I'm sure will be well worth the wait!

thank you for showing me the nether rail way. when i was younger i dreamed of getting a pile of those plus the nether portal set "with the mine cart in it" and i dreamed of making a nether rail way system. now i never had money for that and i never achieved nor get either set, but just seeing the set made me have a nostalgia flash back, thank you.
Both my brother and I got a copy of the railway set. Definitely one of my all time favorite Minecraft sets.

As with all of LEGO's cost cutting on instructions and increases on consumer prices I wouldn't be half as annoyed if they hadn't just spent one billion dollars on the metaverse. Another explanation I've heard about the instructions is that this new style is more environmentally friendly which I also find difficult to believe considering the negative environmental aspects of the metaverse.
Either lego has billions to blow or they don't. Either they care about the environment or they don't.
Yeah, the metaverse thing is super sus imo. It sucks because I have no interest in that whatsoever, too. Any sort of 'metaverse' isn't something I'm going to want my kids one day to be involved in either.

I actually made a custom Lego strider where you can't see the hinges on it's legs, and they're more spaced out like in game, I'm pretty proud of it.

I personally found the Llama to be really fun to build, addictive even.
I had to take a break from building it to sleep at one point and I had to tear myself away.
That's probably the one I'd like to get most. I should just put that order in!

I always wanted a Lego piglin brute And this it does not disappoint although I think they could’ve put the sleeves on the Piglin and the Piglin brute But this is probably the best nether set in my opinion

Return of the Magma cube, but they should’ve used those wolverine-ish claw pieces as the strider’s… hair.. I guess. The rest of the strider looks good.

The claw pieces would have been perfect, yeah. I saw so many custom versions with those. I might purchase some dark tan ones and swap them out!
you have inspired me to make my own layout yes it may take time and money for me to get there but i plane to throw it all sorts of minecraft jokes and references such as thing like a broken aither portal or maybe something from a youtuber i use to watch like dantdm, on top of that i would like to throw in some history i had with the game like pixel art i use to build with a group of friends or jungle tree houses something i was obsessed with for a bit. pretty much turn it into a love letter to minecraft.

Piglin Brute is in my opinion the best LEGO Minecraft minifigure of all time and the best thing about the set.

I know your a mock builder and might not take this into consideration, but for me who takes the sets and tries to put them into a large world without having to be super creative and have a lot of specific pieces there is one thing I think of. How well does this fit with others sets? Like how well can you take this bastion and combine it with the warped forest or combine it with the nether portal or other sets. I was just mentioning this because some sets do really well at mixing with the rest of them like this one in my opinion. But others like the llama house/village (not sure if it house or village) doesn’t really combine well with other sets like it. It’s so big crazy like you said in your video on it. That’s just my opinion and I know you’ll probably not even read this comment but I just thought I mention this. :D

I can't say I've ever combined any sets together, but I know what you mean! I've seen a lot of people add this one pretty seamlessly into their kit-based Nether layouts. It's nice that it's so spread out too I think, as it makes your world significantly larger without adding too much cost

Yeah, what the heck are those instruction renders?! 😂 They honestly feel like what they did with the Games sets in the early 2010's, where they would use renders where the Lego logo didn't even show on the studs. Yet somehow these manage to look even worse. The set is amazing though, I really like that it feels like a complete set, because it actually has full rectangle base to build apon.
The instructions drive me nuts... Hopefully we see it changed for next year

I've been working for Hypixel for nearly 8 years now actually! Things were a lot different back then. I was basically invited to join after making a lot of community map submissions. It's a dream job, I love working there!

(booklet) that's a shame because the booklet usually re-use the render used on the box, and that allow to keep a flair of what the theme looks like with the CG background and effects

I really think although this a good LEGO set, I think they should have made a massive bastion like the size of the Mountain cave and then that way it feels like a true bastion or they should release smaller ones of these like labeled part 2, 3 etc. once you got them all you put them together and it forms the bastion
I'm surprised Minecraft hasn't done any of those 'combine A and B to get the much larger C' - the theme is perfect for it!
