For a longevity report. I purchased my plx1000 brand new out of the box back in 2014. I used it daily moderate use for just playing records not dj use. Brand new out of the box the tone arm was loose but I fixed that myself with a small screwdriver (easy fix). The turntable sounded great and was trouble free for 10 years. Then last month the power would cut off from time to time. Now it won't power up at all. I took it apart checked everything the fuse was still good had it tested. The only thing I think it could be is something in the power supply went bad. I don't know if this is rare or if anyone else has had this problem at 10 years of use. Can't find any info. I loved this turntable while it lasted.
Does the slide mechanism equate to the ability to micro adjust the platter speed if the strobe light indicates the need? I am not a DJ. This TT would be for home use. I am just looking for a TT that allows for speed adjustments when and if needed. This is why I prefer direct driver versus belt driven TT's. Thanks!
I am on the look for a direct drive turn table that can handle 78 rpm, I had the at-lp120 but I see a lot of people reporting wobbly platters... but even this higher quality pioneer, you can clearly see that the plater is wobbling near the end of the video... even at this higher price range, you get "cheap" products...
@@JumbleTasteSpinning New Technics is Hanpin TT. There is also +$7000 TT from Technics made in Japan that is service nightmare plastic over engineered rubbish if you have too much money. But from Hanpin TT's Pioneer is the best with big margin and best 1/3rd of the price to Technics. Technics is just flying with it name that is age old history.
Has anyone had any luck with this model or the plx500, as I’m unsure whether to get either of these or a technic! I want to play my records I’m not a dj,and don’t wanna pay too much or little!
PLX1000 is better than $2000 Technics. PLX500 in my opinion is a bit of a waste of money as it comes with poor cartridge. Yes it can be OK table but you need to invest on a good cartridge. The main thing about any turntable is the cartridge. Personally I think you will be disappointed if you have to ask. I think you are better off spending a bit more for the PLX1000 and because this table doesn't have cartridge you need to get it separate. Spend some time researching cartridges to find the one you like and suits your budget. And don't buy from Amazon as you get shit someones disappointment they send back because they had no knowledge how to adjust or use the table. You will hear loose bearings that is 1 minute job to fix and anyone can do it. It will happen to all the tables on transport when they rock on the truck. Noise because people can't install cartridges and blame the table. Simple things that need little research how to.
@@paulboyce8537thanks for your insightful information. I got the PLX-1000 with ortofone 2M bronze, and you have the luxury to change the stylus to black without breaking the bank.
This is 1 minute fix. Happens to all turntables on transport. If this is your take what is poor quality I recommend you stick with with the CD's. Whenever I read comments like this I LMAO because the knowledge is not there. Same with noise when you need to add a cartridge people just don't get it nor are they able to adjust it. Result they say it is a faulty table when in reality there is only a lack of knowledge.
"A hole in the marketplace?" Since when? It's a Hanpin Super OEM turntable. All Super OEM's have damped platters and removable cables. I don't know why Pioneer is marketing this unit as original. And it's $300 more than the VERY similar Audio Technica Super OEM. Come on.
Additionally, technics engineers did all the research so the guy just lies and we all know it. This is a BAD COPY of SL1200 series. I say bad because if you look the inner of this turntable you will want to send it back to them.
vapon Yeah but a Technics isn’t an Audio Technica, which is what the above guy referenced. This PLX 1000 is a very nice turntable and easily worth the price range they’re going for today. Just my opinion.
@@GunninRebel55 A salesman at a local Guitar Center called the PLX-1000 on display a "SL1200 clone". Lol. What was that guy smoking? The PLX had platter wobble and a drifting strobe, just like other Hanpin decks I'd seen. It was a piece of crap, but that didn't stop Pioneer from charging a premium price for the unit.

Product Spotlight - Pioneer PLX-1000 Professional Turntable
But what does it sound like?
Great Turntable, sir , is it manufacturing china ??
Audio Technica, Reloop, Stanton, Technics, Pioneer all come from the same factory. China.
What? 🤦@@paulboyce8537

Does it come with a needle?
No.
Lower. Stand of SL1200mk2
Maybe if the tonearm bearings weren't loose it would be ok

Poinzy I don’t dispute the SL 1200 part. Other than that, perhaps you and I have had different experiences with the unit. I’ll leave it at that.
Poinzy I do acknowledge though, nothing beats Technics when it comes to turntables. They are the undeniable gold standard.
DJJ.
