Step 1: Start with a hot mess. Step 2: full page portrait of a flower, using soap. Step 3: Admire masterpiece with open mouthed awe. Step 4: Scream curses at Debra, green-faced with jealousy at complete inability to paint thusly. Step 5: Smash Subscribe. Step 6: Binge watch every video in open mouthed awe, curses falling out at random.
So I braced myself and had a go - 0h my word, what a riot 😂! Perhaps a little too much washing up liquid when the painting actually starts to froth up 😱! The effects are beyond amazing though - I am definitely going in again 👏👍. Biggest thanks for this inspiration 🤗
LOL…so funny, I love the whole frothing up, BEEN THERE, DONE THAT 😂. I’m glad your enjoying the journey with me as I take you along with me on this crazy journey of the wonderful world of watercolor…its like a DRUG, with a splash of soap 🤣…xoxo DL
You have such an infinity with the paint. Your 3D vision explodes from the beginning to the end into this wonderful painting. I so wish I could do it 😅
Thanks. A lot of my piece have the hot mess stage. You almost have to be patient enough watching my videos to the end,to see how I pull it all together. Thanks for tuning in!
I know you’ve mentioned in other videos, but I never completely hear what the white watercolor product you use is. Will you please provide me the full product name do I can get some? Thanks and by the way, I LOVE your videos and I’m totally re-inspired to do watercolor painting again (instead of acrylic for now)❤
Oh boy!! Loved the dish soap trick AND the toilet paper trick too! I swear in my mind I have a pic like that but when I go to do it im WAAAYY to tight. I gotta just loosen up. ALOT.😂😂 Maybe I need to have a glass of wine first!😂😂Thanks for sharing. Love your videos!!❤❤❤
I am new to your videos. However, I can’t stop watching them!!! I love your style of painting. You have made me come back to painting again. I feel like a new person, I have to write down my ideas. I have decided to do an art show in the Spring. Can you tell me the name of your watercolor paint set? I need more vibrant colors. I use a Daniel Smith, I brought back paints from Japan, and South Korea. They were bright, and so much fun to work with. Thank You for your informative videos. God Bless
I live in Florida, its humid here and my AC runs 24/7. You might be dealing with the opposite with heat running which will effect how quick things are drying.
I’ve watched you many times, love your outcomes but haven’t tried your approach yet. I’ve been apprehensive about being so unstructured. Something about the soap intrigues me. I’m going to give it a try.
Hi Maria, I just used normal soap you would use at the kitchen sink to wash your dishes by hand. You can use even bar soap for pushing pigment around. Thanks so much for tuning in and commenting! 💕
Dr. P.H. Martins Bleed Proof White just be carful using it, it can muddy a painting quickly! Many of my videos show me using it, and how to deal with it. Enjoy
Some of my pieces have sold to friends and family, I have not yet gone live to the public for sells my work. This will happen once I have my website built.
You might not have enough water on the paper, as it has to move, if its to dry it won’t work is my thinking. You can even use bar soap and it will work.
O my gosh. I loved this. First time I have seen your site. Exactly what I was looking for ...inspiration! Also.. that's a great large... looks like metal palette. Can you tell me about it?

Love this, but how do you keep your paper wet for so long? Mine always dries too quickly. 😢

Awesome! Just play and enjoy how the medium flows!
Cool
Debra have you ever done this on a watercolor canvas?
No I haven’t. I have a canvas waiting for me to do something on it, not sure how it would react, could be interesting!
Many thanks for this interesting idea. Does the washing-up liquid affect the drying time?
No, not that I could tell.
@@debralynrosenbachart Thanks. Can't wait to give it a try.
Very beautiful and interesting..gonna try this but I only got Yes dishwater soap, and it's green. Would that work? What about liquid handsoap?
Hi Rebekah, use dish soap…not dish washer soap. Hand soap might have to much oil in it…haven’t tried that.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Is this soap for the hands/body?
Hi Maria, I just used normal soap you would use at the kitchen sink to wash your dishes by hand. You can use even bar soap for pushing pigment around. Thanks so much for tuning in and commenting! 💕
Debra what’s the white stuff called ? I believe I do have some
Dr. P.H. Martins Bleed Proof White just be carful using it, it can muddy a painting quickly! Many of my videos show me using it, and how to deal with it. Enjoy
Wow! Really cool effect! Does this work on arches paper as well?
I just play with it on 100% Fabriano and it worked.
What is your soap recipe. And does it need to be a specific soap?
I’ve used dish soap that you use at the sink, and I’ve used bar soap that I’ve collected from hotels. Both work well.
Do you sell your originals framed? Or just the painting?
Some of my pieces have sold to friends and family, I have not yet gone live to the public for sells my work. This will happen once I have my website built.
Thank you also!!!
It doesn’t work for me. I’m using blue dish soap, is that my problem?? 😅😂
You might not have enough water on the paper, as it has to move, if its to dry it won’t work is my thinking. You can even use bar soap and it will work.
I thought that weird spot looked like the thing orchids have in their centers.
Yeah it could have been.
Hugs
