I am a watercolour artist if the old school having painted for a very long time. I am as old as the hills now but not yet quite as old as the Queen! Having watched several of your tutorials, I have fallen in love with the splashy, wonderful way of creating something from a washy, wet blob of colour! Very inspirational and I am going to have a go and see where it takes me. Thank you for keeping the creative juices flowing,
Thank you so much Old as the hills Heather 😂 You’re funny! I love it!! I feel like I’m as old as the hills too! I want you to also check out an artist that still has her videos on YT but she has since died..she was well into her 90’s and making YT videos, and her freedom in painting is a joy to watch, her name to drop into YT browser is Millie Gift Smith. You’ll find her YT’s to be enchanting. Be blessed Heather!!!
Loved watching a real time video verses speed one. Learned a lot watching your thoughts to develop the painting, adding and subtracting. This was much more beneficial to me than a speed video. Thank you very much. Love your work.
I love watching your work... gives me hope. I have developed a tremor and writers cramp so whenever I pick up a paintbrush to do detailed work my hand turns into a tight fist. With your style I bet I could paint! Now I just have to figure out the intuitive part! Thank you so much
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve already said a prayer for you. I also have a disability with my hands...tremors. So I get it. Painting loosely is perfect for my condition, i’m sure it will work for you also, if will there is a will, there is a way. Remember, when you’re down to nothing, Gods up to something. Be blessed...DL
Wow I watched about 2 minutes and I had to go and try this as it looked like fun and I liked the idea of just starting and then working out what to do.Came back happy and watched the rest.Thank you I have had fun
@@debralynrosenbachart Debra Lyn...I'm struggling, and don't understand it. I've spent so much money on beautiful watercolor paints, paper, and more. Your videos are a great inspiration. It's springtime, and I've got to cease the "paint fright" and begin playing. Thank you. 🥰 💖👍🎨
I really enjoyed this tutorial, thank you. It is a really relaxing way to paint which suits me very well. I look forward to perusing your other videos.
Hi. I must tell you how much i'm enjoying your videos. I love this style and I find myself very drawn to it. Your painting is gorgeous and I love the way you explain your process. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!!
Wow! My painting brain definitely hasn't developed enough for intuitive painting, but it's something to strive towards. Your works are stunning. Thanks for sharing your process.
Love your work - intuitive suits me just perfectly and I'm looking forward to trying all of your videos. It's so fun to watch how watercolors mingles together. Your use of color is terrific. I'm purchasing the quill brushes because I live in a very dry desert climate and it's difficult to keep paper wet. Thank you for sharing your talent!
I'm not one to paint pumpkins etc. But I wouldn't be apposed to painting a snow scene. Right now its 90 degrees in Florida, so its hard to wrap brain around cold weather just yet...but soon.
This was very relaxing. I learned some good tips from this. I have a question...you are using the gorgeous green a lot. When that color is gone, do you have to buy the whole pallet of colors again, or can you replace just one color. I have never done water colors before. I am going to try. I bought the colors!
Love this!! I'm just wondering if you've stretched your paper beforehand as there's a lot of water and the paper doesn't seem to be buckling very much.
Thank you! No, I don’t stretch my paper. I live in FL where it’s humid, so that needs to be taken into consideration…Fabriano Artistico paper in my opinion is the best for the amount of water I use.
@@debralynrosenbachart Thank you - I have some of FA paper so I'll give this a try. I absolutely love your work and WOW - lucky you living in Florida!! I live in Ontario and we have a little place in an RV park in Port Richey where we go for a few months in the winter.
I love your paintings and your loose technique! ❤️ What paper do you use, and why doesn't it curl? It looks so relaxing to just take a sheet and some colours and go ahead with it. I am an impatient artist, and want things to happen quickly.😄
The paper I use from most of my art is Fabriano Artistico. It’s best suited for the amount of water I use. Also environmental factor come into play with paper and how it reacts. I live in the USA in Florida, were its very humid and the AC is running all the time, my home never runs on a heating system that can dry the paper unevenly and cause buckling. So, its all about trial and error and what works best for you. But I still highly suggest the paper, its fantastic.
@@debralynrosenbachart thank you so much! Iwill try it, it looks so fun the way you paint I live in Norway, so not humidity other than a lot of rain and soon snow 😄
I love watching your work and have now decided to try some loose watercolours. I have only ben using watercolours for a little while but love how they move and spread and create new shapes. great work.
As a beginer I am impressed ! I just have difficulties with my 300 gr dutch paper getting wrinkeld by the water. I use a blocked paper but still...Do you have an advice ? I love youre style !
It’s 100% cotton, so that helps...but as I work I slowly add water working towards the outside edges with my blending technique. Once it’s all wet it behaves nicely.
Debra Lyn, I'm from Virginia, currently in the Midwest for a couple of decades, & I can't place your accent. Let's just say that I love the cadence of your voice. More to the point, your technique is singular, loose & tight at the same time. You have the softest touch with a large mop brush. I just moved houses, but as soon as I've set up my "studio" again, I'll give it a go! Do you sell your work? PS: I love DS Cascade Green. Try it with a Cerulean Blue that's not too greenish, e.g., DS PB 36.
Hi Douglas, thanks for tuning in! I have a mixture of Nebraska/New Jersey and Florida mixed in....basically I’m a mutt!! 😂 Typically, no one can ever figure it out. By the way, I hope the setup of your studio is going well! Happy painting. It’s a crazy world we live in now, so Be safe, be well and God bless.
I love cascade green.
Beautiful , lovely. Really lovely.

I really love this! I'd like to see you do a sunflower.
Ahhh sun flower, fun. Yes, I’ll do one in the future!
Thank you for a real time video. The result is beautiful. Did you rewet the paper before adding the green so it would bleed?
As my work my paper gradually gets more wet. Typically my paintings will start on a dry sheet of paper.
So beautiful! Debra what is the white paint you used? Gouache? Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful!!!
Thank you!
Silly question but where do you get single-ply tissue paper ? Thank you

Beautiful! What is the white you used?
Thank you! It’s Dr. PH Martin bleed proof white. Just be-careful using it, it can muddy a painting fast if you disturb it.
I love watching your work and have now decided to try some loose watercolours. I have only ben using watercolours for a little while but love how they move and spread and create new shapes.
great work.
That’s the beautiful of watercolor. My thought process is why try to make watercolor conform, let it flow!

Hi Deborah, Are you still doing TH-cam demos? I love your work and miss seeing them!
Yes, life’s just been super busy, plus my studios been ripped apart, made some changes. I’ll be back soon, full time!
That’s great to hear! Look forward to seeing you soon!

Gouache

Thank you…I have so many brushes but I use a lot of natural hair ones. I’m not a fan of synthetic, they don’t hold enough water.
