woww, she has the same hair texture as me! I just asked my hairstylist to recreate this style on me this weekend! :) so tired of people saying that I should've straightened my hair to make it look neat again.. but the truth is, curly hair rocks! :D
Man. When I go to the salon with my wavy-curly hair, they wet it, cut it while it's soaked, blow dry it, and then straighten it. The first thing I do is go home, wet it again, then let it air dry NATURALLY so I can see what it actually looks like.
Same. Hoping I can find someone familiar with curly hair this time. I chickened and only got layers and swept bangs so not sure if I could get a long A line like I want.
Oh god the way you rough up her curls and the crazy frizz she's left with at the end leave my jaw clenched like crazy.... I would have cried if that was me.
Thank you for sharing this! I have super curly hair, and I love getting it cut in this exact style! I love seeing the process, and what the stylist is calculating to ensure a great cut, and what the stylist is calculating in order to aid in helping relieve the weight of the curls, while shaping it perfectly for my face & head shape; while still working with my curl pattern as well so I can choose to wear it either curly or straightened! I highly recommend this hair cut to the gals with curly hair that are looking for a change! When I am in search of a hairstylist, I chose a few different salons, and call each place to ensure there is a stylist on staff that is experienced with, and comfortable with cutting my precious curls into this exact haircut; it saves time & money in regards to knowing what you'll be spending on the cut, while saving fuel money from not having to drive from salon to salon looking for "the one"! I hope this helps those in doubt!
I love this cut! My only wish is that we got to see her true curl pattern in the finished look. I don't care to do any more than diffuse my hair in the morning after I wash.
Ever notice the stylist that diffuse your hair or don’t straighten it blow it all around and put their hands all in it? Drives me nuts. It’s a frizzy mess. I’d rather just do the styling at home after my cut.
I am a cosmo student and it is so hard to find good curl cut/style tutorial. This is so great! I also have very similar hair so being able to achieve a great look on a client is kind of expected (I feel). Keep them coming!! 😊
Her hair is awesome. Its the best cersion of the colour i wanted this last tkme i bleached kine n dyed it btiwn but oc box dye/it was too light thry disnt have what i wanted i went back to soft black or natural black something
Wow natural beauty the hair cut just accentuated her beautiful face very nice job on makeup couldn't see the color dimension hair cut was point on nice job please keep it coming thanks to all that was involved I love my profession all 28 years! Jay
Wish you were closer to my area. What respect you have for curly hair and the differences in people. I used to get my hair colored at a salon and the stylists would make fun of my hair once it was brushed out.
Thats was amazing! The top layering technique is an eye opener for me! I need to listen it to it over and over for it to really sink in! I sometimes get like a triangle effect on top and i believe that if i can get what your teaching here it will help my problem. Im trying to understand the head shape more....i hope it will click. Im grateful for your videos!
I have very long very curly hair and ive been wanting to cut it short for awhile now but ive been soo nervous that it wouldnt look good on curly hair. This video has inspired me to go for it so thank you soo much! :)
absolutely beautiful! can you guys do a dry cutting tutorial on curly hair, similar to deva's technique but with your own influence of course? that would be... amazing!! please please.
Beautiful young woman. I would have liked that they welcome her and thank her by name for being their model. The presentation was so impersonal. The haircut looks gorgeous! She looks stunning.
This cut and model are beautiful. I've always fought against my wave but since my A line cut is too short to in the back to just lay flat maybe I will embrace my natural texture for a few months till it grows out. My next appointment just might be at your sa lon! Lol I can't find anyone who can cut my hair decently.
Thank you I have learned much more here than any on site paid classes, just ordered my tripod I'm really into improving my hair cut game ,thanks again for what you and your team do !!! I'm so exciting to see your idea that haircut is killing my self esteem 😉😉
Although I prefer the Deva or Curl Artistry technique where the hair is cut dry and curl by curl, at least you appreciated the unique qualities of curly hair and let it spring up and activate before you cut it. But what killed it for me was right at the end after it was dry, when you texturized/(teased?) it by running your scissors up the strands similar to razoring. Ouch! All that does is guarantee frizz for us curly-haired women. I wish stylists would stop doing that.
Xenia Jones to get the curls in heavier sections of hair to show you need to create a shape where they taper. Using really sharp scissors as he is it doesn't give each hair a razored end finish where it can frizz instead it just cuts each strand some longer and shorter to taper the curl.
That might be true! However, when stylists have used this type of technique on my hair often I end up with wispy ends that end up looking ratty. There's too much variation in the end length of the hairs that make up that curl. I much prefer to have blunt or slightly tapered ends, not ends that vary a lot in length.
I went to get this haircut before seen this video and my hair is a mess. Love this I will take this video to a hairdresser so they can reference to the cut... thanks
Thank you for sharing your all the videos, you do a EXCELLENT JOB!!! thanks for taking your time and go step by step, that way is easy to recreate any hair cut. I love the way you teach.
Like the video but it's a little unclear how you started the fringe area. How did you know how short to go.? Your using the guide from the back? The sides?
Fabulous! Any chance to get a diagram showing the different angles for this cut? Also, how long the top layer guide is? For my personnal use, thanks!!!
KageNeko1989 Most of the time it's best to cut it dry , but as you see in this video, if you know exactly how to do a certain cut on wet curly hair, you will get the same results each time. Note that he is cutting the hair fairly long for a bob and when it shrinks up, it's in the right place. IF he were cutting on straight hair the cuts would be made almost twice as close to the head. :) Long curly cuts are best done dry... this is a shorter cut. Do what you are comfortable with .
@@SuperStanster disagree to an extent. Curly hair is not uniformly curly. People might be curlier at the crown or at the hairline and won't shrink equally. Stylists won't know this when hair is wet.
I still have quite a bit of mroe damaged hair than not in outgrowing my shoulder length hair and im so tempted pately to do this to jy hair! I had to cone see how itd look tho. Ive had a pixie (bad bleach w hot water mess 2019-2020) & the outgrow of course went wonky and short hair on Ccuuuurrly hair is a no for me! I get that old lady poof look. So its scary but also whens a better time to experiment than now?! ❤
Oh man that was awesome! I always wanted to go short but was so nervous to have anyone cut it because i have curly hair. Matt is their any way to see to cut my hair and i can finally donate this pony tail to locks of love!
Are you based IN New Jersey? I live in NJ. I think I would trust you or any of your students with my hair (I have not done THAT in a long while after a bad haircut!). I have curly hair with some odd spots that are straight, I am older and have some thinning hair above my temples and right in the front so I need a skilled stylist to address this as well as my grey (cover it or go with it?). When I see someone with a great haircut, I always asked them where I can find their styst, but i am still too chicken to just go and do it! Awesome channel, you answered many of my concerns about hair cuts and styling. ❣😁
I have a question. I have pretty curly/ wavy hair but once I go outside my hair frizzes out like crazy! Can you tell me a way to make my curly/wavy less frizzy?
Go to naturallycurly.com. They have tons of info on taking care of and styling naturally curly hair. I have the same problem, the wind destroys my curl pattern. So I use several styling products to keep as much control of it as possible. Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie is great if you don't like gels. It's a thick cream and a little goes a long way. If you prefer gel type products, try Kinky Curly's Original Curling Custard. Nice hold without the crunchiness of other products.
Make sure you are using sulfate free shampoo and condition like crazy. Watch the youtuber CurlyPenny. I have naturally curly hair and ever since I followed her advice my curls have been beautiful. Other than my leave-in-conditioner, regular conditioner, and shampoo. I use no products. I haven't bought mousse, gel, or anything! And I have fine hair so I used to have frizz like crazy.
Thanks for posting this! Great haircut... exactly what I'm wanting. Would it be insulting to a hairdresser to ask them to watch this, so they know exactly what I want done?
ahh you are not supposed to cut curly hair wet. You can cut curly hair wet you just aren't supposed to use too much tension because curly hair shrinks when it dries. His technique was perfect. He did everything right.
Cutting curly hair wet is perfectly fine, I think it turned out amazing. Like Bailey said, you just cant use too much tension (which is something I think a lot of us are guilty of) because the end result will suffer greatly. Having curly hair myself I would never ever let it be cut dry completely, maybe finishing, but an entire haircut, my hair would freak out.
thefoxieroxie I agree with you Sierra! I transitioned to Devacuts and would never go back! I honestly think it would be beneficial for stylists to get Devacut certified!

did you do it?
You should do a video explaining what haircuts look good on which head shapes.
this made me cry when she walked in the room at the end very inspiring
