You explain your cuts way better than other instructors than I’ve paid a lot of money for. Bravo.

When you say “don’t worry about the neckline right away, it doesn’t have to be perfect while establishing the line...” that has helped me so much!!! I just do my cut then customize the neck line at the end. I’m fairly new to precise bobs so thank you!

I think this is one of the most beautiful cuts in the world, when done well. People think it's "out," but it's flattering and beautiful. I have one regular client who asks for it. I do some texturinzing and it so cute. Shhe looks amazing.

First off, THANK YOU for doing these free videos!!! It is truly appreciated!!! Also, I was only in haircutting for 6 months when a shoulder injury forced me out of haircutting, its been nearly 3 years and my shoulder is at 95% now, but because ive been out of it for so long, I need to reeducate myself. The angle Bob has always been one I could never get the hang of, so I am hoping if I watch long enough it will finally click. Thank you and God bless you!!!

I have never gone to barber school, but I’ve watched haircuts being done for years. I’ve been cutting hair for forty years and after watching you I wish now I had gone to school. Thank you for sharing your talent and expertise online with people like me who can’t afford to go to school!!

The timing could not be more perfect-FSE on demand is AMAZING. I started watching your vids in hair school and it was YOU and your free youtube videos not my teachers that had people requesting me because of the consistent quality of good work I was doing. I'm cutting hair in a chain salon now and that app is going to be a go-to for me like a little hair bible! Thank you for continuing to create these videos Matt I just placed another order on FSE for some new ys park clips-they are really helpful with sectioning a bob and they never fall or slip out!

This cut is so well done, it's so precise and so neat, that not only does it look good freshly cut, but I also think it will allow hair to grow back in good shape without having to maintain it too often, which helps a lot when you have little time to take care of it. Congratulations on your excellent technique, and thank you for sharing your expertise so generously. I have learned a lot in just a few minutes, it is just what I was looking for. Greetings from Argentina.

I did my first A line bob on my mother this weekend. With a ruler and a pen in hand, I drew a small parallel jaw line on the right and left side of the neck, plus a line on the back. Then I worked carefully, section by section. Paying attention to angle, shape, length. The angle changes: below occipital bone, above occipital bone, and then near the back crown. As I finished the sides, I did diagonal partings and I pulled the hair backwards behind the shoulder, but instead of downward angle (which doesn't give side layers), I instead kept the hair parallel to the floor as I pulled it back behind the shoulder (creating side layers). I took notes on the various strategies, referred back to my notes, and I succeeded on my first A-line bob. Oh. I like the Equinox pro shears for $15 dollars!

For those of you saying this is a “Karen” cut, you’re wrong! I have this A line bob and I get compliments constantly. It is difficult to perfect, but very elegant and classy, but can also be really fun with a little product and messy-ing. It can also be sexy when flattened perfectly and one side tucked behind the ear. It flatters so many face shapes and is way WAY more interesting than a straight bob. I love this technique, I’m going to share it with my stylist!!

Yup. The haircut my hairstylist gave me that ruined my used-to-be beautiful hair. The only attractive thing about me that's now gone😿

YES!!! Set yourself up with at least one pair of really good scissors and multi-sourced lighting...both stationary mirrors and a hand held....but most importantly, tons of patience mixed with a desire to enhance your best features. Wait to cut your hair when you feel good about doing so...take lots of breaks...i'll even spread a haircut out over a stretch of time if it's one that requires tons of time and effort. Think positive and triple check everything before each snip. If I had a friend who enjoyed hair cutting like I do, i'd team up watching videos together and help one another to create desired styles. I've paid money at hair salons around the world and only twice was I happy with a cut because they're so quick to plop you down in the chair, convinced they are the expert, and within a few minutes they start cutting instead of taking the time to understand your head shape, growth patterns, face shape, etc.. Most people's hair doesn't fall perfectly like a mannequin and we probably have features we'd like to enhance or tone down. For instance, I have a less than perfect jawline, a round face, a thin crown, a short neck and the back of my head is too flat so if someone accentuates any of that i'm gonna go home and cut it myself. A good haircut that is suited to enhance your own individual positive points needs understanding for your more beautiful features to become the main focal point. This is why I absolutely prefer my own hair art. It may not be perfect but when i'm happy with a cut there's something special about wearing something you've created yourself with tender loving care and understanding.

Matt , thank you I am trying to get that classic A-line bob have not had it like that unless I cut it and I don’t have the skills you do I cut mine like that in 1968 I had a lot of fine hair very long at that time and lol I grabbed the Pony tail and went to work and that’s truly the very last time I managed that look I’m older now and I love the look.Your excellent and I will try to find a beautician who can watch you and achieve that style it’s comfortable for me. Have a great evening from a downpour of rain here in Louisiana. Thanks again.

Wow just looking for video to cut my own hair but this is the cut I always get via a salon but dude You are so easy to watch. My Aunt used to be a hair stylist/barber. I have always loved doing hair for special occasions. I did my best friends hair for prom and their wedding but I have always been nervous to cut.

Could you show the sectioning you do from your perspective, I struggle a bit to see how you do the sectioning and guidelines from the side perspective.
