DIY hack for threading the chain links through the tire tube - spray the inside of the tube and the chain with WD-40 and the chain will slide through much easier.
Thank you for the information! Being brand new to river kayaking & trying to figure out the anchoring options, it feels a little overwhelming but this video is super helpful !!! Newly subscribed, you've got some great videos and I'm looking forward to following your channel, thanks!
Very helpful and informative good job, planning ahead for the anchor system on my old town 120 pdl tight lines buddy your yak has come together very nice 👍🏻👍🏻😀🎣🎣🎣
I’m considering buying a Power Pole for my Hobie PA 14. I haven’t found a video anywhere that explains what the process would be if you’re power pole battery was to die while in the down (anchored) position. Have you had that issue and if so how did you retrieve the pole while anchored.
@@aaanglers Alright cool, so I saw that in the video. But how do I get the pole back into the unit while on the water. Let’s say it dies while anchored and I pull the emergency cord, I’ll have an 8ft pole sticking horizontally out of the back of my kayak. Is this one of those deals where it’s better to just get a spare battery and save myself the headache ?
Love this video. Where do you get the Pulley (@10:46 in the video) and the Tabs for line management (@10:46 in the video)? Will be incorporating the chain anchor system on my new Jackson Kayak Mayfly.
I will never have a powerpole. I find that an anchor trolly and a push pole is lighter and much more useful. In current how are you supposed to control which direction your kayak is facing without a way to adjust where the pole is stuck? I also use the push pole to push around in the flats.
Very nice. I am new to this all but it seems to me that so many people carry a lot of extra gear with them. Wouldn’t just an Anchor Wizard be enough by it self with out the extra weight of a power pole, plus extra chains?
Just checking if you have a installation video with anchor wizard with chains using the hobie trolly system pa 14 360? Thanks for all your content been extremely helpful in making decisions for rigging.
Would pairing the anchor wizard with an anchor trolley be better for positioning? Also is there any way for a quick release in case of an emergency when using the anchor wizard?
Wizard to trolley can cause some issues. The set up is just kind of funky. Some people put the wizard on the front, which as an option too. As for worst case quick release... It's a knife to the line lol. It's just paracord so you can replace it super cheap. I use drag chains, and I have never been caught in a bad situation, even on my rivers.
Hey Jeff, have you heard of brush gripper anchors? I love that things man. you can anchor onto anything. Ill anchor onto weeds if i have nothing else and i dont move at all.
I hadn't heard of those. I looked it up today and it looks solid! I use this set up to either pin myself to a spot or slowly move along the bank. I could see the brush gripper as a good alternative if I want to just hang out, or get off the kayak. Especially for the money.
You need to paint that Hobie Power pole mount that white is ok but green and black would look better I think. Paint the whole thing green let it dry then make some tiger stripes with black.
@@1776willful All good man, I honestly wouldn't get the micro anchor unless you fish flats a lot. Most of my lakes are bowls and the river is too swift for those power anchors. Very specific function, unfortunately.
Did you upgrade to the h rail mount? Just got the anchor wizard and was thinking I would put it on the h rail mounting plate so its closer to me and not clear at the front of the kayak however there aren't many videos doing this. If you have did you make a plastic plate to go between the h rail mount and the anchor wizard of is the mounting plate big enough to directly attach to anchor wizard?
Am considering the Power Pole but concerned about wind...I fish a lot in Narraganset Bay in RI...it can get windy in the Bay...if I am facing away from shore...but the wind is coming off of the water...wouldnt it just turn me around? Would a stake out pole on an anchor trolley be more effective? Would appreciate anyone's thoughts.
Power Pole on the rear of the boat WILL turn you around in the wind or current. You would need another one on the front, or a stake out on the trolley to pin you. Otherwise the stake on the trolley could be a good solution allowing you to reposition.
Anchor Wizard OR Power Pole OR Both? What is your move?
Burly Fishing I have the power pole but I will add that anchor wizards after seeing it on your Yak.
Works like a charm
Definitely will try the drag anchor. Looks enough for where I fish, plus I love DIY's 👍
I’ve used it now a few times. Works great!
Thanks for the info very helpful as I’m just setting up my kayak with an anchor system
Just got the anchor now to install it
Thanks for posting
Great video man, this is the first time I’ve seen your channel
Thanks!

Absolutely love my ancor wizard!!
It’s awesome!
Informative video thank you. Was looking at anchoring options this helped a lot.

What kinda anchor do y’all recommend for river systems (mostly rocky/ muddy bottom)

There is a pull cord to flip the pole up

Sorry...fat finger. Pulley is at 10:36 in the video.
Yak attack anchor trolley
@@aaanglers Thanks! And what about the Tabs you inserted for managing the line. Did those come with the anchor trolley?
What’s the best way to run an anchor wizard and rear mount motor?
Off the front with the chute
Please help what is the best mount for Anchor Wizard bow or stern
I prefer stern but many others ive seen do the bow mount.

Years later and Ive sold the micro pole. I agree with you!
Can you let me know what anchor trolly system you used on your hobie pro angler 14 and where you got them? Thanks
Yak attack, from the yak attack or austin kayak site

Just an anchor wizard is plenty.

Did you ever update it to the universal mount?
Yes, and it is an absolute game changer! Recently dropped an updated rigging video with that in it.
With the chains dragging in the water did you notice any tracking issues? Did you feel like you lost speed?
Nothing noticeable on this boat

Good call!
Why not purchase some fiberglass poles the correct diameter and manually insert them via the scupper holes?
I mean sure, why not! I got it to try it, don’t actually use it anymore.
I like the anchor drag n being that you don't use the anchor shoot are you willing to sell it?
Sold that anchor already, sorry.

Paul has it and Anchor Wizard makes an adapter plate for it. Definitely the way to go!

My buddy who fishes with me on my videos and is my podcast cohost we both have the PA 360
U could use heat shrink tubing
Both
Definitely!
