    Can't recommend KM Weiland's blog and books enough. I've read other books on story structure and struggled with understanding the concept of GMC, but reading KM's book on Story Structure I totally got it. It changed my writing and my books.

    The hook is so important because we're so used to instantaneous gratification with technology, the internet, and streaming. I've found myself DNFing more books as I get older, some for other reasons, but most for not being able to catch my interest soon enough.

    I'd really love a long video/discussion about how to increase stakes without it seeming contrived - which is maybe also a video about getting stakes set up without it seeming too obvious about how it's being done? I fall into worrying that a lot of these "perils" seem overdone or obvious to the reader and that furstrates me when writing.

    • @Miab0711
      @Miab0711 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I would also like to see a longer video on this. I've seen so many stories with high stakes that still failed to grab me, and others with incredibly low stakes that had me riveted. It seems like so much comes down to the execution. I'd like to see more about what makes a story's stakes actually work for the reader

    • @HeartBreathings

      I don't really use my iPad for writing much. I use it mostly for Goodnotes as a journal or notebook and for Pinterest or just playing around! When I'm writing, I'm mostly using my Chromebook (now that I have it back) or my laptop. But since I write in Google Docs, I do sometimes use the iPad if it's the easiest option at the moment!

    I am looking for more discussion on Needs vs Wants. I know what they want but how do you figure out what they need or vice versa? What about resources about needs (psychology or go over hiearchy of needs more in depth in the relationships sections maybe) and that sort of thing applied to characters.
