Yes I try to extract outside where possible, rbis one did by going through the wall cupboard to the right of the extractor. This one was 4 inch, depends on the extractor and/or your cooking levels.

I’m sure your new renovation will, as usual, blow me away but I hope you were able to do some salvage as you suggested and pass these lovely cabinets onto a new person. … from PA, USA.
Great renovation. Wouldn't want to keep the doors clean with the mouldings.😝. Didn't realise that a fridge could go next to a oven, so that was interesting. Love all the pot drawers. Hopefully the person who bought the other kitchen was happy, it looked a good quality one.
Love the time lapse! What a beautiful kitchen! The flooring is awesome! The only thing I would have done differently would have been to square off the door tops that lead to laundry room and hall. And, remove the mullions from the windows. I'm guessing they can be removed. In America, the mullions can be removed for cleaning or removed from the windows altogether. You did a fabulous job, Nick!
I love the old kitchen so much character ..I would have had it resprayed with a soft sage green or ivory changed the tiles and flooring and added granite counter tops and a Belfast sink and a little reconfiguring.
A very smart transformation, great time lapse editing, shaker suits this bungalow, the colour is contemporary and the light wood floor really lifts the room, induction hobs are fantastic and built in microwave is much better than a bulky worktop model, the only thing that doesn't quite work for me is the medieval look cupboard door, the colour matches but i would have changed the door furniture to match the units. Nice lighting and plenty of sockets, many people don't consider ambient and practical lighting.
We do have high quality appliances from Bosch and Siemens aswell. They last forever and are worth the money. That kitchen turned out great, even though I dont like the old fashion look at all. More a fan of modern white, flat areas. Good job!
It looks lovely. I’d have not had a ceramic hob, but a lovely big range. It would have looked stunning. We’re putting a new kitchen in at the moment. We choose a Howdens kitchen and it’s just gorgeous. I love the shaker style, but decided to go for an ultra glossy handle-less design. I’ve got my island in a contrasting colour from the main kitchen.
I love the original kitchen ! I think you did an amazing job on the renovation. I am sure someone reclaimed those cabinets. I think the only thing missing would have been some backsplash tiles to give it a bit more personality but it looks nice anyway.
Thanks. I loved the old kitchen too, glad we managed to take it out easily (frankly because it was such good quality) and sell it to someone to reuse. 👍
Wow!! Nick your kitchen is fantastic. I had a new kitchen last year and I don't like it. The builder said that howdens were one of the best but they're NOT there rubbish. The kitchen that took out was 10 years old and from b & q and by far nicer and better quality. Yours is amazing x
After seeing all the changes.......I like finished result..........why wasnt the door in the middle section painted grey and left dark?...Id have also put something like a picture light on the wall above radiator in the middle section to brighten it up.....Love the worktop and sink - very smart....flooring too.......windows need to be replaced with plain glass.
Another lovely job. I used diy kitchens a few years back to update my kitchen cupboard doors. I am currently using their online planner for a total refit this year. Your client has up-stands but no splash back (except the cooker) so no replacing of the wall tiles is that the way to go these days? Is it a style thing or are kitchen paints & extractors good enough? Cheers
Thank you! 50/50 in terms of tiles or painted/upstand with my clients to be honest! Tiles can allow you to bring some bold colours/patterns to a kitchen that painting just can’t, but it’s down to individual choice. Good luck!
Amazing transformation and looks great. Wish people would stop putting covers over their radiators, they obviously don’t understand how they work 🤦🏼♀️😂
Hi, love this video! Can I ask, have you ever done a video on creating a utility area within a kitchen? I am currently planning my new kitchen and would love a small utility area within the Kitchen! Like to hear if you have done anything like that!
Excellent work and look of the kitchen, lighting, appliances and redesign. My question: backsplash is out? Or they did not want it ? Looks smart, very smart, so if that’s a trend I like it! Though of course it makes the space more white and grey which can get monotonous afterwards. The world it seems has got white and grey esp in 2020. Thank god 2021 sees more colour! I can see fuschia and/ or yellow- orange and/or green here, for example!
Very nice although I think I prefer the old kitchen. Especially prefer to have the sink in front of the window. If it was my kitchen I would have painted the units, changed the worktops and removed the fake beams and brick trims etc.
Hey, do you know the exact flooring that was used in this video for your kitchen and where I can purchase from? It looks very nice could do with laying it in my open plan lounge/diner, love the video also, thanks 🙏🏼
@@NicksHomeRenovations Thanks Nick would it be possible to let me know what the approx measurements were for the quartz, how many meters did you use? Thanks
About 7 metres of standard worktop, the breakfast bar was 90cm wide by 150cm long, plus upstand, taking it into windowsills and a 60cm splashback behind the hob. Hope this helps 👍
Can tell you're a sparky when the most work, obviously the joiners/carpenters is captioned as "handles" and the light installation is "pendant/lights second fix" hahaha
Beautiful job and just started watching your videos. The lay out is great and have two questions; Why use vinyl over wood flooring? Why such a small sink? Seems a bit small for counter and not that deep. Cheers from the states!
The old floor had dated tiles, screeded over then a wood laminate as mentioned in the video, the sink is 1.5 bowl, smaller part is for peeling and prepping food, Flexi hose tap useful for that, the larger section works ok for occasional washing up usually with a wire basket set in, most people use a dishwasher now, not much call now for huge daily washing up of pots, pans and crockery, and smaller less deep sinks use less water, so more eco friendly.
Hey Nick, did you ever manage to sell it on eBay in the end. If so, can I ask how much it eventually sold for? Helps me to understand how much these guys get sold for or if it's worth just scrapping it. Cheers
Yes. You’ll never get much on eBay if you advertise as I do; to take down, remove and take away. No more than £100. Maybe you’ll get more if you take it apart yourself but I’ve sold some for less than £20 but the point is you don’t have to spend hours or days taking it apart!
@@NicksHomeRenovations thanks nick! Really helpful. I imagine you’re busy with your own renovation and can’t gigs in London? If you can’t, possible you can recommend a kitchen fitter you’ve worked with? Perhaps the one in the video even?
Overall these looks really wonderful, but I'm surprised you didn't change the door to the utility room. All of those strange peaked doorways look like a throwback to a previous renovation, they don't look like authentic architectural features from the original house that have been kept, even if that's what they are. The paneled door in the butler's pantry section goes much better with the style of the new kitchen, I would have changed the peaked doors to match that door. The peaked doors just look like they're trying to emulate some kind of ancient castle style, and that's just not working with the sleekness of the new design. I also think the cooktop and sink look really small and narrow in scale in relation to the other features in the kitchen. In a kitchen like this, I would expect a wider cook surface. The ovens and refrigerator are great though, I like how both the refrigerator and freezer are tucked away and unobtrusive. I would have eliminated the upper cabinets flanking the extractor built-in, and placed open shelving with decorative cookware and objects. Yes, you lose a bit of storage, but it would make that area look like more of a feature and focal point. And this kitchen looks like it has plenty of storage. Once again though, this renovation turned out really well overall, this is just what I would do differently.
