Sehr schön, freue mich jedes Jahr über die Videos von Übersee... Wahnsinn was es dort alles gibt. Wie es dort hin gekommen ist, ist allerdings weniger schön.
Many items, especially the medals, were looted by undisciplined soldiers and that bothers me a lot. It’s all mixed in with genuinely sold items to soldiers from the following decades, but I’m not comfortable not knowing which is which. I’m a US combat veteran and during the early 2000s during my time between Iraq and Germany, I would try and find medals that had numbers, names etched into the back (bought in the states by these brokers) and return them to their original owners…it became sort of a vision quest for me and I utilized the early internet as best as I could. One man nearly fell over in 2000 when I showed up at his door with his Knight’s Cross. I was a guest at his home for three days after that and learned some very valuable history. I’m thinking of compiling all of the stories and uploading them, I’m just not sure if they would’ve been comfortable with that and sadly it’s now too late to ask them :-(
Many thanks for the interesting video! I got a lot of positive emotions! Awesome things and interesting people. Dear Thomas Wittmann, thank you that you are!
"I bought this in Germany" lol, wooden plaque is faker than a 3 dollar bill, Collecting this stuff is for the educated so if you dont like reading books and doing research you better keep out of the kitchen, its a great hobby but you need to study, study.
