I have flown on various twin turbine and twin turbo-prop aircraft, the honor of flying in a B-17 and a B-25, and a couple of flights in a Piper Super Cub. By far, the most fun and the best view was in the Super Cub. I even earned 1.5 unofficial hours of stick time in the Super Cub!

A lot of high value and low volume PCBAs are assembled in the US. Also, a lot of high volume products get prototyped in the US and moved overseas once the product is ready for mass production. Though, even with products that are made in the US, the unpopulated PCB usually comes from overseas.
With all of your airplanes, you should do a comparison of Garmin Vs Avedyne avionics stuff. Maybe even get sparkies opinion of the installation process.

Jimmy, thanks for the tour of the Avidyne plant. As a new Avidyne IFD 550/440 owner, it was interesting to see some of their processes. I did the Garmin 530/430 swap and couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the products from Avidyne. I am in the process of having the Skytrax 200 installed in the next couple of weeks to add traffic and weather. I am looking forward to seeing your Avidyne upgrades. BTW, the bluetooth keyboard is very cool.

Sooooo..we jumped in my clunker ..
and drove out to the local airpark..
I had been working on my PPL building up hours and getting my dual training done..I had scheduled a Piper 140..and one of my CFIs was in the hanger waiting for the flight to get started...
I asked my CFI if my friend could tag along..and he said SURE NO PROBLEM!!
with a big smile on his face 😃...
I prefllighted the bird .. we got in and took off..
For the next hour.. we did all sorts of stuff .. My CFI basically did a "20 dollar Discovery flight" because my friend was with us..and it was intense!!.. we even went up really high ( It was kind of cloudy) and did some tight turns and stalls...IT WAS GREAT!!!
I kept looking back at my friend and asking...
"ISN'T THIS COOL??".. ISN'T THIS GREAT???.. OH BOY!!!"..
And all I got was this look like ... 👀..
After we landed and put the plane away..I did some debriefing and set upthe next training session.. We headed out to the parking lot...
He said something ..very interesting..
..I will never forget it..
" Dude..you are one crazy.. mf...
This is your idea of getting high???..huh??.."
He had the look of sheer terror in his eyes.. 👀.." Take me to the beer store!!..Now!!.."
I hadn't thought about that time for years up until now!!!....

Aviation needs to get with the 21st century... Simrad Marine made their navigation screens work with polarized sunglasses years ago!
I was not sure if James had a multi-engine rating. It seems he does. I'm impressed with his confidence and skills, buying and flying older twins. As long as they're reliable the exterior appearance doesn't need to look sparkling new.

Congrats on your twin engine ticket. We did not know you got it. A short story of mine from years ago. I went up in a twin engine during a test flight of new avionics. The pilot asked if the tech wanted to try flying. So the tech took the controls. Then the pilot said to the tech let’s see what happens if you lose an engine. So he shut the right engine off. Well! We went into a dive real quick. Scared the crap out of all of us. The pilot took over laughing and we had a change of clothes back on the ground.

I used to fall asleep in my dad's planes all the time. That made the time fly by.
Many years ago, I had an opportunity to get a few hours in a 172. I was amazed at learning how airspeed is so connected with altitude. Found that taking off and flying were kinda easy. Landing was the tricky part.

My Apache instructor would hold the door open even on take off and short final he opened it again... did not like the Ontario Humid Heat. I did not mind it was a good excuse for nervous sweating. Flying is so great we even or especially do it in the Hot and Crappy. Must be love...

Another JW adventure! Your videos provide a unique look at general aviation airplane ownership. Behind your jocular manner, you fly like a professional and are fostering a positive image along with your infectious sense of humor. I enjoy each video as they roll out of JW World Headquarters, and look forward to the never ending 310 project and Sparky taking lessons. Think he'll make a good pilot.
One comment if I may; Twins certified under Federal Aviation Regulations Part 23 are not required to climb on a single engine on takeoff. Airliners and private jets are certified under Part 25 which requires them to be able to climb after an engine quits on takeoff. Not so for Part 23 twins. Most likely, if a light twin can climb after takeoff, it's because it is well below its maximum takeoff weight.
After an engine packs it in on takeoff, the operating engine on a Part 23 airplane usually serves to relocate the crash site, so I taught my multiengine students to bring the gear up only after the remaining runway is inadequate to land. The call I use on Part 23 airplanes is "no runway left, positive rate, gear up".
One can only imagine the embarrassment of landing with a failed engine and the gear either up or in transit.

Absolutely enjoy watching your content and all of your shenanigans and the people that are involved every step . I will say I was kind of shocked at how little sparky knows about flying and the instruments and physics with him being an avionics & electrical guy. Why is that?

I ordered a pair of prescription sun glasses. They assumed I made a mistake not asking for polarized. So they did it anyway. Got in the big jet and couldn’t see a thing. But I had the clear glasses. “What could possibly go wrong!” I’d let sparkly fly.

I’d double check. Sometimes they send a non polarized set of lenses in the box to switch out.
I had to have some prescription sun glasses made and specifically stated that they can not be polarized because all the electronic screens will blank out and if your are electricity heated you can see the hot spots in the windshield. Take those glasses back and tell them to do them over at their expense.
@@danandkimpage958 absolutely. They did. And yes I fly an airplane with heated windows. Couldn’t see out. Polaroid is great for fishing but not for flying.
@@therealjimmysworld no extra lenses. But they replaced them quickly.
Another reason you don’t want them polarized is that it’s harder to spot traffic in the air with polarized lenses. My optometrist made me aware of that.
