    I had one complicated attack in early August. My doctor got me through it with three days of IV anti-biotics and sent me home with another fourteen days of oral anti-biotics and the suggestion I have surgery in about six weeks to get me well enough for the operation. Between the pain and nausea of the disease and medication I dropped twenty-five pounds in that period of time. It was pure misery and hell for me.
    I had surgery six weeks from my attack, went home after two days in the hospital with only Tylenol for pain and went back to work two weeks after surgery and required no temporary colostomy.
    The surgery wasn't a walk in the park but not as bad as the attack itself and I feel fantastic. Good luck and god bless whichever treatment you choose...this stuff is horrible.

      I'm glad you were able to get through it and get better. I am really struggling with this. I was upset about my diagnosis. And then that nasty diarrhea. I got so sick & couldn't do anything. I feel I was defeated with this and I don't want to wear a colostomy bag. Because they are a mess I heard they get BM all over the place. Then I would never be able to go swimming or ever walk long distance again. No way do I want to put up with that. I have been down in the dumps about that. I'm just hoping that when I see the Gastrologist he will tell me it's not as bad as that. Then I have had so many surgeries 8 of them. My body can't take anymore of this I had Cancer twice. After my attack of diverticulitis I lost 10 pounds since I have seen my regular doctor. I wanted to lose weight but not with me getting sick with diverticulitis. If my quality of life continues to decline my life is done for. I am 63 years old and I lost my best friend 3 years ago. On the twenty eighth of September and I have been lonely without her. We were friends for thirty eight years so we became more like sister's. As long as I can take care of myself I don't mind going on with my life.

    I just had this surgery. 20 days ago. I had no idea I would be almost 'total care' for over a week. I came home as did my neighbor who became my immediate caregiver totally unprepared. I would have prepared a cart by my bed had I just known I'd need things like Dulcolax, stool softeners, Gas-x, extra strength Tylenol and so on. I needed diapers for a few days. I had a catheter and givin my severe pain my neighbor was dealing with getting my clothes on, off etc. Later I ordered pants from Amazon that snap all the way down the leg. Each missing item was another trip to the pharmacy. No one told us to be prepared. Thank God I had my friend. This was the most painful thing I've ever been through and if I had it to do over I would not do it again. Never. I will hopefully fully recover and begin to eat normal again. Stock up with your foods, medicines, paper products. Prepare. Be safe.

    April 21st of last year i had emergency surgery for this exact reason and i had no idea what diverticulitis was nor a colostomy. I however was reversed last Oct. Im doing a lot better, just now i think i have a hernia that needs repaired i see my surgeon in just a couple of hours to determine that for sure and go from there. It was a huge wake up call for me and im going to be honest i hated having a colostomy but im happy i went through the experience however it changed me for the better.

      I was having a diverticulitis episode (serious pain as my intestine was moving food in that area, and a typical fever developing around the 13th hour which lasts for about a day with everything subsiding in about another day), my fourth in about 6 years (of varying degrees of pain) and I was trying to decide if I should go get it checked out. I decided not to go get it checked out believing that this is a typical old age cycle kind of thing for some people (and apparently me) and just accept it but that if episodes get progressively worse (which I of course would be sensitive to) I would go in and get checked out (based on the seriousness and death of me if I am not sensitive to this) and press for a colon ostomy (ugh)

It's amazing how such a small part of your body can make you feel so bad. I was leaning towards elective surgery but I will take a little more time to see if it calms down. Thanks again for sharing.

      I'm 34 as well. Back in March, I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. I was hospitalized over 23 days. Due to covid and other complications, I was unable to have surgery during that stay. After I was released, I experienced 2 more attacks. This was the determining factor to move forward with surgery. While in the hospital and follow-up appointments, I asked about the chances of getting it again. Due to age, it was highly likely. So I was prepared to move forward with surgery but not as soon as I did. I had surgery the first week of June and in recovery now. It's been some ups and downs with recovery but expected to make a full recovery. The chance of diverticulitis coming back is very slim.

    Unfortunately, things pan out a lot slower here in the UK. They won't even anaesthatise a patient prior to colonoscopy. I've been suffering now for 12 years, culminating in a rectal bleed last year and have been fobbed off with Buscopan, Colpermin and Fybogel - the latter of which makes things worse. I am slim yet terribly bloated and my surgeon says it could all go wrong but I would prefer life with a stoma than this constant pain xx

      !Surgery is barbaric & a money maker! Because it will just come back. You want a colostomy bag hanging from your body after? Many ways to deal with it. 1 is Apple Cider vinegar everyday. Stool Softeners when you have an attack. Eating seeds nuts & fiber a MYTH! Meat eating & only meat has saved my life. *Vaccines, GMO, Proceeded foods, antibiotics = diverticulitis. *Dr. John Bergman D.C. check him out!

    is diverticulosis fatal?

    • @RogwinMusic
      @RogwinMusic 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Diverticulosis is not fatal, diverticulitis if complicated can perforate through the colon wall and league septic fluid into your body, that is cause for an emergency operation immediate.

    Not one word about why people suffer from diverticulitis!!!
    According to good doctors the reason is simple enough, a lack of fibre and too much protein, (meat) carbs and sugar.

      Some people are stating that diverticulitis is caused by stress. I think mine is stress and antibiotics that caused CDIFF twice in one year. Now today , my doctor prescribes me antibiotics and laxatives

    Hello🐧🐧🐧🐕🐶, 🐦
    God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy and Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Jesus sincerely to be God's childJohn 1:12. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that BELIEVE on HIS name." That is great news! Will you sincerely receive Holy, Lord Jesus into your life today
