Every time I hear this song, it elevates my mood and makes me joyful! I feel like jumping up and down and moving my body to Jackie's rhythm and dancing. I get lifted Higher and Higher!
The producer the way the horns , funky bass , & Jackie's soaring powerful voice.

There is not one second of this performance where Jackie is not doing something great, flourishes that make the song his. Always exciting, where it be wailing, cupping his hand to face, dancing, splits, foot work, just moving his body, it's constant performing.
Jackie Wilson was not called "Mr. Excitement" for nothing! He has influenced many recording artists including Elvis Presley!

Both Elvis and Jackie , if alive today would be appalled at these negative comments. They were mutual admirers ! Jackie once said, “ I took as much from Elvis as he took from me “ . Elvis once said after being accused of copying Bo Diddley after seeing him as a teen at the Apollo , “ my family was too poor to get out of Memphis but if I could go to the Apollo , it wouldn’t be Bo I’d see, it be Jackie Wilson “ ! They were also longtime friends. Elvis paid many of Jackie’s medical bills .

@@mikevallen999 Trust me I understood where you were coming from with that. You're right of course. Though I will say this. I haven't really come across Sam Cooke fans who take umbrage towards a Wilson/ Sam Cooke comparison topic as many Sam Cooke fans like Jackie Wilson. However Elvis Presley fans are a totally different story In my View after reading many comments on the subject of Presley and how viscerally angry and aroused they get at even the most minut of critical analysis and unfavorable comparison to Jackie Wilson, they don't deal in the world we live in. I'm not saying this in jest. They sound emotionally unbalanced and just generally bizarre when you don't have the same idolatry adoration for the man that they obviously promote. Not all of them to be fair but A MASSIVE Amount of them 80 -90 percent, are guilty of this.
One fan who was polite tried to say that Jackie Wilson had just ONE incredible voice while Presley had more than one sound. In his view Presley sounded different on Jail House Rock as opposed to It's Now or Never.
In his view Presley could sing in different tones where as Wilson sounded the same on every recording regardless of how well he interpreted the song. The sheer ignorance and lack of real Insight into that was epic in my view. Presley still sounded like Elvis Presley regardless of if the song was slow or Uptempo. Most glaringly what he failed to mention is that Presleys voice was already changing in timbre by the time he recorded It's Now or Never. And Presley also seldom escaped from his vocal comfort zone. Which explains why he sounded at least to me so bland on a lot of his recordings.
By contrast Wilson could change registers and hit notes you couldn't cash in a bank, with incredible dexterity and ease. His opera Arias are astounding. He was polite but doing some incredible verbal gymnastics bending to and fro to support this silly narrative. I politely disengaged from the conversation and came to the conclusion that these people are better off avoiding.
@@fitzgeraldanthony9333 ...Very well said Fitzgerald.....Jackie's voice conveyed a full spectrum of genuine deep emotions that captured the human soul that was incomparable ; and remains unmatched to this day......I doubt if we'll ever see or hear anyone of his immense talent and aura again .

Whatever it was its great. I have seen the clip before on TV music infomercials that sold CD's for Late 50's and 60's soul music and always wanted to see the performance. I'm thinking Merv Griffin but definitely only guessing. Keep them coming. This is the second great GEM youve' shared .

A friend of mine says Elvis was better than this man
...i told her to stop using crack....if society was different during those days and there was true equality...this man would have surpassed anything that over commercialized, over exploited, far less talented hack did...period. End of story.
He copied Jackie's style from hair Doo, dances moves, skinny necktie, without Jackie there would have not been an elvis. Real talk.

Levan Moore Jackie was fab but Elvis always the King. Both men were friends and arguments between both sets of fans are sad. Jackie is in my top five fave singers.

As regards to your question of where this show clip is from....I believe it is from " The Jerry Lee Lewis Show " ....the same show when Jackie sang a short live version of "I'll Fly Away ".
