For these older vehicles, some may have a GEM, other might not. But for those that do have one, that GEM will be responsible for: Power windows, switches, power locks, receiving signal from key fob, interior and exterior lights, wipers and washers, climate control and AC, Instrument cluster, speedometer and tachometer, alarm system, keyless entry anti-theft system, accessory power and radio, vehicle diagnostics (OBD2 port), cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, various aspects of ABS and 4wd system, idle control, etc.
If the fuse to the GEM is blown or the fuse is not blown but instead lost connection to the fuse prongs (or other issues related to the GEM), this can wreak havoc on the electrical system as a whole. Yet, even though the GEM is SO influential, I haven't seen any forums or posts concerning diagnosing it, hence the reason why I made this video.
Now, as for the OB2 port not functioning. I addressed in the video that the fuse for the OBD2 system is mislabeled on the owner's manual as well as a few other's that I didn't mention in the video. While this could be just an error with my manual, it could be an issue someone else is having. If that is the case, I hope this video helped out.
