EVERYONE wants an explanation as to why Bass intentionally left LA during it's time of need. SHE has her own agenda and could care less.

Having a plan in place, being prepared for the emergency is critical. She was not prepared - maybe that would have been less obvious if she had been here. She is incompetent. I find the fact that she is always smiling when she addresses the people - she appears truly gleeful. She is incompetent and must go!

Her lack of capability and capacity, her ineptitude, was uncovered in this crisis. You really don’t know how someone will react until hit with a major crisis. Now we know Bass’s true character.

No amount of PR can cover such incompetence. Ditto for Kamala.

Why are you comparing her to Kamala Harris? Because they’re both Black? No one does that to white men.

Wow! Great podcast!! KB’s silent response is a metaphor for the empty hydrants left for firefighters. Those that are affected were let down in both ways and I truly wonder about leaders (irregardless of party politics) that can be so tone deaf.

Bass displays her ineptitude on her own.

Molly thanks for doing this very helpful and thoughtful analysis. I hear people referring to her as a DEI hire which makes me angry as she, an experienced politician, was democratically elected to her position. It’s her performance as an executive that should be judged, not her gender or race. I’m also glad that you admit up front that anyone who is not a non-cis white male does have an additional burden when communicating during a crisis. For anyone in charge, it’s all about optics and how you come through to people. Demonstrating genuine empathy is powerful while platitudes wear thin. This ability to communicate during a tragedy of the scale you’re seeing with these wildfires is a real skill that can elude most.

We were not prepared for this. Around 5:30pm, weather was normal then suddenly around 6pm the wind was like 100mph. We saw a “bomb” bright light in the mountain then Eaton Canyon burned. We can’t even imagine what our neighbors are going through. I could barely closed the door once I open that’s how powerful the wind was. Bass only been in office 3-4 months and she has not contributed anything positive toward Los Angeles. Los Angeles and SF homeless encampment looks like zombie apolcylpse. Newscum and bass should be held accountable for all these damages to people home and now they are giving them $770 FEMA relief which is not even enough for grocery. Bass knows what she did is wrong! 25 deaths as some are elderly who died in their sleep and some are disable who can’t evacuate and had not help

It makes one wonder what she was doing in Ghana. Several trips would be indicative of a going concern of some interest. This might also need further investigation by the FBI.

I have a question. How do you feel about how Trump handles situations, one on one conversations and crowds? I love Trump but I want to hear a professional opinion. I know he is not perfect so please don't forget to compare him with other politicians, both bad and good, how he rates as a speaker. Thank You

Maybe just hire competent people and then do a good job. How about that?

competent people are the first to walk away when lunatics take over, not flee during the colapse. that is why they are considered competent.

You teach how to spew bs and deflect blame. Your profession has helped create this fucked up system.
