I just in the last week started modding w/ YAML and YAW and you're tips are much appreciated. Definitely gonna get the Purchase Salvage mod next since I've wanted that option so many dang times.
There are even more interessting mods from the Yet- another-Group, for example: Yet another Clan Mechs and yet another IS Mechs. You add a few more battlemechs and their variants. All mods are compatible with each other. However, these mods sometimes do not work with other mods, for example the Advanced Career mod or 330's Pilot Overhaul can cause problems. But all in all this group of mods is an absolute enrichment for Mechwarrior 5
The yet another clan mech mod I found mostly lacking because it just reuses in-game models And brands it "IIC" with maybe like two mechs that had their own model.
@@danwalker3851 Yeah, but there are some new IIC Mechs, Hellhound, Adder and some other. But there are a another IIC mod out there. On Nexus. If you with a lot of "real" IIC mechs, go for it. But the mod is not as mature as yet another clan mech. The name of the mod was something like Clan Invasion 3048, something like that, but I can't remember exactly
Im not to keen on yaml It crashes my game, I recommend for diversity and play MW5 mercenaries 5 as it should and not to far from vanilla, is in my opinion Is to Add Standalone Mechs from vortex, Add standalone weapon packs to mw5 mercenaries, And add mw3, Mw2, Weapons to use unnerfed classic weapons i also recommend Thunderbolt etc, I just wish for a vehicle driving mod then it will be like Roguetech for battletech game, I just want to make a budget roguetech Roster
I'm getting notified that the YAML or YAW mods are conflicting with the 'No Tonnage' mod. It seems that most players recommend removing tonnage limits-what are your thoughts? If you feel it's a necessary mod than is there another 'no tonnage' mod that'll work with YAML and YAW? Thanks!
Clans out next year has better UE5 AI so theres at least that to look forward to. At the very least I'd be happy if they didn't walk in front catching friendly fire constantly lol.
Did you try ttrulez_aimod2? "Updates the AI of both enemy mechs and your Lancemates AI to perform better in combat. New behaviors and logic to seem more human, and jumpjets enabled. No more circle of death."
@@KnightKnowledge I know it's super late for a reply but boy oh boy if you're wondering what is unique about Coyote's you're in for a treat. It's as revolutionary for a vanilla install as Yet another Mechlab. It adds a ton of new mission types, tweaked AI for enemy pilots and it even adds a couple touches to vanilla missions. The amount of variety and random/surprise objectives you get during gameplay is enough to keep you hooked for a good while. Really, try it out.
I want to try these mods, but I'm uncertain whether or not I should install them on my first playthrough. My concern is that they will make the game too easy.
@@wolverine005Just turn down the health multipliers to 1-2x. The YAML defaults are very clearly broken in some missions with coyotes pack. Weaker weapons become way more useful, and the enemies become less of a chore whilst still being a threat if left unchecked/in a large swarm. On default settings some missions need around 2 tons worth of LRM ammo just to take out defending turrets. If you got an Igor swarm at the start of the mission, expect to lose your whole lance in under a minute.
Vanilla, even vanilla with DLC is just a drag by the end of it. Maybe rush through a campaign run then use the mods, but I'd suggest some of them even on a mostly vanilla playthrough. Coyote missions can be hard for a firth playthrough though, and YAML by default sets enemy vehicle health to like 3x, so you should prob make that 1.5x for the beginning missions until you can easily one shot the tanks and VTOLs
@@KnightKnowledge I downloaded various workshop Mods as well and use WebMods but unfortunately the author(s) keeps screwing around with the updates. It’s annoying because they don’t fix the bugs when they claimed it’s updated. Smh
Do you use the mod loader? A couple of months ago when I was trying purchase salvage with the YAML mods and some other mods i already had, it was causing conflicts (and crashes, iirc)
I use Vortex b/c I'm on Epic; its quite good, never had to think about loading it in a specific order. I just turn them on and off on the Main screen (when I switch between vanilla and modded play). If you have issues, you may want to check if some mods aren't compatible with each other
I cannot get Bobbert's Mod Options to work properly. It says that I need to reorder how it and YAML load. But I guess I'm not editing the correct file. Upon further investigation and some testing... Mod Options is incompatible with YAML when it's loaded from Steam Workshop. Adding it from Nexus disables all the other mods I have.
It's important to understand how modding works when not using external tools to facilitate it. Using external tools or managed libraries like Steam and Nexus takes agency from someone. Mixing modding platforms is exactly one of the problems that was introduced by the Steam mod workshop, regardless of how insultingly strangled those tools are.
@@davewills6121 I finally did downloading mods now I'm really excited to experience a way better version of this conole gaming has gotten so lame these days.
Just like chloe smith said. Your console (Xbox, PS4/5, etc.) is basically a computer, wrap in a nice fancy UI. That's all. Remove the hard drive, hook it up to a computer. Install your mods.
Mods for MW5 are really the best thing about the game
The DLC stuff does enrich and expand the base game. But the mods allowed me to actually turn it exactly into a game that I personally want to play.
YAML, coyotes mission, and vonBiomes are a must-have for tons of variety and freshness. every map and encounter feels unique
I just in the last week started modding w/ YAML and YAW and you're tips are much appreciated. Definitely gonna get the Purchase Salvage mod next since I've wanted that option so many dang times.
Purchase salvage is definitely useful!
Yet Another Equipment Collection is to me an essential mod (as is "Yet Another Heatsink Distribution").
Ive been playing a lot of Mechwarrior recently and as an 40k fan can only dream of a similar game about 40k titans or knight houses
Hopefully one day!

Fahad is working even harder now! Better invest a heavy amount of C-Bills into some Timbiqui Dark stock.
I always wanted an under tonnage bonus!😊
thanks a lote ... any good mod for control in the game ...

Ive never needed no tonnage limits as it is only limiting in early game. I think YAW and YAML are worth it.
Okay thanks!@@KnightKnowledge
Shouldn't need a no tonnage mod anymore since you can set the tonnage penalties to 0 in the custom difficulty options.
Now if only there was a way to make the AI teammates better.

Not yet I will take a look thanks. Almost 6 months since the Clans update though. We gotta be close to some kind of announcement 😄
Only the time will tell 😁 I forgot to tell that the mod found on nexus mods like others.
@@jiipee2841 Thanks yes. We have the solaris dlc soon so i might wait till the modnis updated to work with that

Does the YAML and YAW requires he (mod option) mod for the to work?. I found those 2 very interesting.
O cant play wo them
I wouldn’t call the yaml collection separate mods imo
What the heck is the name of that mod that makes all mechs and equipment available at the start, instead of being released at certain dates?
It's not a mod, it's Instant Action mode (instead of campaign mode)
@@KnightKnowledge No, there's a mod that can do that, too. It works in campaign mode. I had it at one time, I just can't remember the name.

YAML includes a feature where drop ship can be upgraded, in the operations tab.
