    I have both a Remington model 11 and a Beretta AL390. THE 390 being my first and only gas operator. I never knew how to properly go through the 390 for maintenance. I oiled the daylights out of it. After watching your video, I realize I have to go back and dry it out a bit. Thanks for sharing. Cheers and thumbs up!

    I bought a Baikal S/A in the Holts sealed bid auction that was in Summer. I can only assume the owner sent it to auction due to cycling issues because when I got it home and stripped it down it was absolutely caked. Every single part was disgustingly filthy.
    I gave it a good clean and it cycled fine first time I took it out. Not sure if the previous owner did have problems but I can't see how they wouldn't have done. Their loss is my gain though. £250-300 gun for £100 and a couple of hours elbow grease.

    hi johnny ive all ways been told to clean the barrell with the choke in then remove it and clean choke this way it stops all the crud going into the threads in the barrell

    • @FallHuntsman
      @FallHuntsman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s exactly how I was taught to clean a shotgun barrel - I’ve seen the choke threads in a barrel basically ruined by trying to screw a choke back into badly fouled threads.

    • @tgsoutdoors
      @tgsoutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Always wipe them out before putting the choke back in. Removing the choke and cleaning that area after everything else means you have to mop out the barrel twice, which seems less efficient.
      I have done both ways in the past and the only preferable one is to just own a fixed choke.

    Bel video complimenti !! Hai fatto , però, tre errori : 1) la canna internamente la devi pulire con lo strozzatore montato ! Altrimenti potresti rovinare la filettatura interna o riempirla di scorie . 2) l’ asta del tappo del serbatoio non si deve pulire con un cacciavite , mai , al massimo puoi usare della lana d’ acciaio molto sottile ( in Italia si chiama paglietta ) 3) quando rimonti l’ arma , prima monti il gruppo otturatore e solo dopo inserisci il gruppo di scatto ! Così facendo sei facilitato nell’ inserire la punta della biella del gruppo otturatore nella sua sede a ciotola ( quella che poi entra nel calcio e rimanda l’ otturatore al suo posto ) . In ogni caso , pulendo la tua arma come hai fatto, la useranno i tuoi figli , i figli dei tuoi figli e anche i loro nipoti . MADE IN ITALY IS BETTER !!

    • @HERMESFM
      @HERMESFM 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just have to stir the parts of some pieces where there will be friction and with just a little oil. If we use a lot of oil they get dirty again very soon; dust sticks to them more easily if they are bathed in oil. I'm sorry my english is not very good enought, But that's the idea.

  • @claybonner
    @claybonner 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I took the barrel, forearm, and piston apart for the first time to clean it but now the piston slides freely about 1.5 inches with the bolt open - what did I do wrong, or miss? Or, does the piston move like this freely with the bolt open, and get pushed into the forearm cap by the operating rod once the bolt closes?

    • @tgsoutdoors
      @tgsoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the bolt closed the Pisyon should sit into the housing nicely. When the gun fires the gas pushes it out and the bolt back accordingly.
      So when the bolt is open the piston should
      Have free(ish) travel

So cleaning your SLR / LMG / GPMG / H&K MP5A3 / MP5k / L85A1,2 etc in the field or on the 600metre point on the range when it is chucking it down isn’t a good idea, lol. And this is why I own a benelli and a franchi affinity I don’t think I’d have the patience for cleaning a gas gun you can put a 1000 cartridges through a benelli and it’ll still be relatively clean

      Dave Graham Your right! I have a Beretta 391 and a Benelli M2 , the Benelli is so much easier to strip and clean.

    To me, double-barrel classics are forever the best for most bird hunting, for safety, easy cleaning etc. Semi-Automatic are just too complicated mechanically and useless for most bird hunting... Not mentioning that these litter the fields and forests with empty shells that fly all around while the shooters are focusing on the bird...

    Thank you for sharing, highly appreciated.
    But it’s seemed like to watch a drama only; due to very strict, unreasonable & ridiculous restrictions laws, still same as martial law implemented period since the end of World War II; nobody is allowed to buy any kinds of gun, no chance to touch semi auto guns; if someone has against the law, would be put in jail for many years or endless or shot to death by the government!
    It’s stricter than some communism countries!
    No real democracy, freedom and human right! Cheating other countries and people in the world!
    Damned officials! dirty! Corrupted!

      @Robert Stallard Thank you very much.
      Somebody said freedom is a natural thing, like water flow mountains to ocean; but there’s a very sad history for people in this area, they want to get freedom for more than a century, millions people (too many, can not be counted) got slaughtered, people’s blood flow from mountains to ocean. Up to now, just get a portion of freedom, vices still exists. It’s not real democracy, freedom and human right; don’t mention other areas. A lot of Asia people still under totalitarian ruling.
      Wish European & America areas countries help Asia people to get rid of strict control.
