That is not true at all. Even if you had a fighting of only two characters and those characters were echo characters like Ken and Ryu, there could be a tier list off of a single difference. Let's say Ryu had a 3 frame crouching jab and Ken had a 3 frame crouching short but everything else is identical. Ken would be higher on the tier list because crouch short is a mid and crouching jab is a mid. They are identical but Ken's crouching short offers him an organic advantage over his opponent since his low is faster. Can Ryu still win, of course. But it doesn't mean tiers are not real due to differences in the characters
CVS2 is one of the greatest fighting games of all time, and is probably imo one of the most underrated games ever. I absolutely grew up with fighting games because of my friend, we were Mahvel heads all the way, but we were pretty deep into 3S as well, then ofc some SF4 as it came along. We really liked CVS1, then CVS2 came along and it didn't click for me at first how fucking incredible it is until a while later. I actually feel really bad for not having this be my favorite fighting game when it was new, everything about it is absolutely perfect. I will ALWAYS click on a CVS2 video by jwong. Always.

I really hate the whole high/low tier mentality in fighting games. A lot of times s character is branded "low tier" and then suddenly someone starts winning tournaments with it and becomes "high tier". While the balance is mainly the developers fault, the tier mentality comes from the community, and more often than not is a flawed one...
I think the tournament thing is because most of the pros won't have practiced the matchup and don't have a counter strategy. You rarely see those people come back and win multiple tournaments because of that.
I almost died of laughter when Justin said "Low Tier God" and actual picture of LTG appeared on screen.
Man, Eagle is probably my favorite character in this game. I wish he was in more Capcom games.

I like N-Groove Morrigan. I think it's probably her best groove, though she really wants meter for those Darkness Illusion combos.
N-Groove allows to play Capcom characters with SNK mobility (one of the main reasons why SNK titles are sooo good), trully a super fun groove 👍🏻
