One of the things I admire most about Rex's style is his ability to fill space. The way Rex was able to fill the musical area while Dimebag did his solos is underappreciated if you ask me. This video shows just how good these three guys are musically and how brilliant the Abbots were at writing. Thank you for making this.
Rex was always phenomenal . I think TGSTK and RTS are two albums where you can hear just how versatile he is and how he can match Dime note for note and then go off on his own and still sound perfectly synced with Dimebag..his bass playing in Down is just as incredible playing along two bad ass guitarist in their own right with Pepper and Kirk.. He can play guitar like a mofo as well. He put out a solo album and he plays guitar and sings on it and it's not bad at all. Dude is just a well rounded musician.
Although he’s not flashy, he has a solid groove and an incredible touch on his instruments that translates into an amount of nuances that makes even few notes weighting tons. One of my heroes since my very early days into music.
Amen, Floods was always one of my favorites. I bought Trendkill in 1998, I was in 9th grade, I’d rewind the outro and listen to it over and over again for hours…in class or in bed. The guitar tone Dime used there with the rain was just magical. I recently went back and brushed up on a dozen Pantera songs, there was always a lot of parts in the solos I knew I was never doing quite right as the guitar magazines were always hit or miss. If only there was TH-cam and songsterr back then!
I came here for that solo . Trendkill literally dropped the day my mom died in my arms at 17 years old and this dark extremely aggressive album carried me through the darkest time of my life but this solo was warm and emotional and pulled on the strings of my heart in a way I just couldn't explain. Thank you for posting this and props to Zak for stepping into the shoes of a true legend so we can still enjoy this amazing music. ❤
@@jaytarantino yeah but Dime's tone was thinner, Zakk's guitar sounds fat as fuck, that's the only thing that doesn't match, anyway he did a great job filling those shoes.

That outro has a special place in my heart... I know Dime some where is smiling seeing his friend carrying on the legacy. Probably busting his chops too but in all love.

To see where Zakk came from, and his history playing guitar, he's exactly where he should be. I miss Dime and Vinnie, for sure. This is a solid tribute to fallen friends. Great song 🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘
I just saw an interview with Benante, he said he wants to play just like the records are, so, they tune the drums exactly the same that Vinnie used to do, trying to play 😊 Vinnie's way is his way to honor him.
I saw them live at Tons of Rock in Oslo last summer. Charlie’s playing and his drum sound was fantastic. So happy that I got to experience this Pantera revival.
Absolutely incredible, sounds so similar to the original and this is a warm up people! Precisely why Zakk and Charlie are the perfect fit to do Dime, Vinny and the Pantera legacy proud. Bravo gentlemen 👏👏🗯🤘🏼❤
Everyone including Zakk knows he can't fill Dime's shoes but he damn sure gives him a nice tribute and you can tell he's worked hard to do it justice...🤘☠️🤘
That's the thing. Zakk isn't trying to fill shoes. He's paying tribute to his friends. He's made no secret of this and is talented enough to hit Dime manorisms but with a touch of Wylde. For me it's perfect. If I want to hear Dime I have records, I want the soul and Zakk brings that in droves.
As a fan of Dime since the 1990 release of CFH and then Zakk several years later when he joined Ozzy, I love this combo Dime/Zakk style live! Sure he misses some notes and plays others different, but he's never tried to replace Dime... There simply isn't another on this planet who could love and pay homage to their long lost buddy like Zakk is to Dime! The first time I heard them do this a few weeks ago, I was absolutely floored how well both Zakk and Charlie did! It definitely let some tears flow as I've always thought this to be Dime's most soulful solos and Zakk did an amazing job🤘😭🤘Without Phil's vocals, it is so much easier to fully hear and appreciate Rex's amazing bass throughout!
Y’all keep saying that but dime couldn’t fill Zakks shoes either!! I’ve heard dimes ozzy songs live and they were way off!! But that’s what makes them all legendary!! They have unique styles that can’t be duplicated. Who tf would want any legend playing the exact way the other legend played? If they did they wouldn’t be legends. They would be clones. Zakk is the best for this job and dime would absolutely approve just like if zakk died he would approve dime playing his songs although they wouldn’t sound exactly the same
@@kidmac1514 Well said! Both Dime and Zakk more than likely could practice enough and sound almost, if not exactly the same, but then each would be suppressing their own unique style. It might be different if Zakk was actually replacing Dime in Pantera, but this isn't what this lineup was set out to do. I'm sure drummers or drum lovers can easily make out the difference between Vinnie and Charlie, but my ears and brain can't.
Awesome hearing the instrumental soundcheck. The band do a great job tributing this song. Zakk sounds great playing Dime's parts and Charlie sounds great too. Rex is on point as he always was. Such a great song. Nice to hear the tribute version played on this leg of the tour 🤟
This song has been in my heart after the first time I took in the closing guitar...it pulls at your heart, no matter who you are, this kind of art is a thing of beauty. I'm so grateful I have ears to listen to it. Hearing Zakk bring it back to life with Rex all these years later is plain awesome.
As an early 90s kid who didn't have the blessing to see Pantera live, this is so fucking awesome. Idc whether people call this a tribute band. Zakk, Charlie, Phil and Rex are paying homage like no others could! And the true fans are grateful.
I love the ending outro of this song so much. The storm/rain effect at the end just adds to the mood of the whole song. Such a beautiful piece of music that only Dime could have some up with. I remember reading an interview with him back in the day and they were asking him where he came up with it and he said it was after a night of partying he came home strapped on his guitar and just hit record on the fly. You never know when a stroke of genius may hit.
People say it's not Pantera because it's not Pantera, but that's not a disrespectful thing to say. Regardless, it's still 4 legendary musicians coming together to pay tribute to the band Pantera! I would consider them a supergroup, more than anything else. With that said though, I do hope to catch a live show before they stop playing tribute shows!

These guys are doing a great job. Rex's bass tone is awesome takes up good space. Saw the original Pantera in Buffalo with Sepultera & Biohazard. Met Vinnie in Vegas great guy. Met both after the Buffalo show humble & great. At first I wasn't sure of this tribute especially Benante on drums but they sound great. Hats off to you guys
This is amazing. I’m fortunate enough to have seen Pantera 5 times back in the day and this was always a highlight of the set for me. When they came on at Met Life and to hear the crowd loud AF bellowing “Respect. Walk” sent shivers down my spine. These songs are alive again. Thank you, for doing this.

This is amazing!!! Rex’s bass at the end HOLY CRAP!! That’s his custom sound. Zackoria as Phil says his spot on amazing and justified tribute. Dime and Vinnie are smiling big
Zakk is doing a great job, playing Dimebag's solos. Not copying his friend 1-in-1, still having it in his own way, but making it sound the best way possible for a tribute act. Also - THAT sound of Rex's bass. Goddamn!
zakk did great on the solo , no one will sound like dime . Dime had it in his hands the gift. But zakk comes very close and pays tribute to his fallen brother . I love it .
Dime would be proud of his band, friends, and everyone killing it him and Vinnie. Best outro to a song maybe ever. Reminds me of that line at the end of blade runner “like tears, lost in rain”. Legends 🤘🏻.

goosebumps during the solo..outstanding zakk
This is huge premier guitar!! A true exclusive
I love that Spector!
Spectors are awesome basses. I use them as well with my own band
The outro is my favorite piece of music of all time. Every time I hear it, I at least get goosebumps… if not have this wave of emotion that almost makes me tear up. This is the sounds of the universe at the end of all time, into the nothingness…
Killed it thanks fellas for doing this right
Rex fkn Brown 👊🏼
Super keen to see these guys at the end of the month here in Australia \m/ - Thank you for sharing!
Wow ! That was pure Metal greatness.. back in 96 when life was something else 🫡🤘🏻🧨
Thank you for capturing this!!!
Our pleasure!
That was jaw dropping 🤘🏻
Its Awesome to see this!R.I.P DIME&VINN
It's perfect. I wish I could see it live.
God damn they sound Heavy! Hope they release a live album from this tour!!
I saw them this time last year. I wish they had played Floods, hopefully they come back to Japan again
Dime would aproove of this. I wish we could get a whole concert recorded this good.
This is amazing!!! Rex’s bass at the end HOLY CRAP!! That’s his custom sound. Zackoria as Phil says his spot on amazing and justified tribute. Dime and Vinnie are smiling big
Goosebumps and chills all over, PanterA forever!!
Outro is so beautiful it makes me cry😢
Damn. This sounded good!
❤ thank you for this. I'm happy they made this happen in some way for us all.
what a beautiful guitar Zakk has!!!!
Great video
Legends 🤘🏻.
Love this instrumental version - going to rip a mp3 for my car !
Hear about pantera make me so happy
Tuned down to perfection 👌
Zakk u nailed it bud. Well done!
Caralho isso ficou fudidamente maravilhoso esses caras tem que vir logo pro Brasil, nunca vou me perdoar por não ver Floods ao vivo, a música da minha adolescência, olha esse solo tá fudido de perfeito.
Brought a tear to my eye!
❤thanks Premier Guitar for this post
I love sound checks , this is awesome
