The "Bismarck" , and his sister ship "Tirpitz", were the 2 largest battleships ever built in Europe (250 meters long, 36 meters wide, and displacing more than 50.000 tones) and they were the pride of the kriegsmarine (Germany's militari navy) during Ww2. The "Bismarck" set sail in May 1941 to reach the Atlantic and destroy merchant convoys, but he was intercepted by the British and during a brief fight, destroyed the former flagship of the British fleet and pride of the Royal Navy, the worldwide famous battlecruiser "Hood", by penetrating her armor and detonating her aft main ammunition magazine and killing all 1900 members of her crew except for 3 men, and heavily damaged the battleship "Prince of Wales". This enraged the prime minister Winston Churcil who ordered all his ships in the Atlantic to abandon their operations and destroy the Bismarck. In total more than 40 ships participated to the hunt, making it the biggest naval hunt in history. Meanwhile Bismarck, who had received a hit during the first battle, was leaking fuel and was trying to reach the French port of Saint Nazaire, in occupied France, for repair. After 6 days of playing cat and mouse with the British, Bismarck was attacked by airplanes launched from the aircraft carrier "Ark Royal" and hit by a torpedo in the stern, which jammed his rudders during evasive manuvers, meaning that he was forced to sail in circles, just a few miles away from reaching air cover. In the end battleships "King George V" and "Rodney", along side the heavy cruisers "Norfolk" and "Dorsedshire" fought the already doomed battleship and, during the following 90 minutes completely destroyed it. However, despite having all his guns destroyed, and having received more than 400 hits (out of the 2800 shells that the British had fired at it) his armor was still mostly intact and the ship was still afloat. So the british launched another 4 torpedoes and he disappeared beneath the waves. After inspection of the wreck however it had been discovered that the torpedoes did no significant damage thanks to the battleship's excellent armor, and that Bismarck had been scuttled by his crew (although it should be noted that many historians believe that it would have eventually sunk due to the damage received). Of the 2200 men that served on it, only 114 survived. The old man seen in the video is the son of the last survivor, who died in 2018, 1 year before this song was released

No Bullets fly for next Sabaton reaction. Be sure to watch the animated story video, it's an emotional ride and a wonderful storytelling. Watch it until the very end, thank me later.

Not on any album this tune. Bismarck was a request from the fans, so they made it. Gotta love these guys. Who needs history teachers or lessons when you got Sabaton 😛 Seen them live many times over here in Sweden 🥰

Next to the US Iowa class of battleships, the Bismarck and her sister Tirpitz, as well as the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were absolutely GORGEOUS ships. Shame the Tirpitz was ripped apart by scrappers, but this song is so amazing. Thank you for this cover (I play World of Warships, and love to play Bismarck often when I'm not doing well, she always cheers me up).

Two historical notes: 1) some of the lyrics are the (translated) quotes from Otto von Bismarck, the German leader for whom the ship was named. 2) inside the compass that the older man was checking at the end are the longitude & latitude coordinates of where the Bismarck went down. These guys pay real attention to the history behind their songs.

Something that took me the Nth time watching to appreciate, this video must have been incredibly uncomfortable to film for the band. They're in tank-tops and T-shirts sailing on the ocean amidst the spray in the North Atlantic. The way they look at the end of the video is freakin' cold, haggard and shows the dedication to their mission. LOVE THIS BAND!

The more I see of this band, the more I get to know them and like them. The videos are visually stunning and highly complimentary to their music..this one being a case in point. Their music is structured and lyrically they have perfected the fine art of story telling. The vocals have depth. Top drawer song and reaction. Nicely done.

This was the song that made me fall in love with this band. Sabaton and Nightwish are my favourite bands now. Since today is Star Wars day, you could check out their song Stormtroopers from their latest album ( song actually has nothing to do with Star Wars, just funny coincidence)

I can't help it, but I smile every time I see that they name the ship Primo Victoria after their first album. 😁

So what happened there was Bismarck and Prinz Eugen engaged the Royal Navy battleships HMS Hood and Prince of Wales, Hood was sank in the Denmark Strait taking with her all but 3 men with her. Then she was pursued by Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers from the Ark Royal and one scored a hit on her port rudder assembly causing it to lock 12° to port she was badly damaged and was scuttled. Excellent reaction!

Bismarck (KMS Bismark) - German battleship, the lead ship of the same class, was still no less famous for its brother-Tirpitz. Bismarck is one of the most legendary ships of the Second world war, as well as being the largest battleship in Europe and one of the largest in the world along with the Japanese Yamato and the American Missouri.

No no, Joakim sounds exactly like that live, i can confirm on my own two ears. The vest he wears is as iconic as his hair and facial hair, not just a prop to mimic a life vest, you can even see the bandmembers of Amaranthe play around with it in their cover of "82nd all the way" that they recorded the music video for while on tour together with Sabaton. The music video is so ridiculously accurate, i think there is actually only one single shot that isnt historically accurate, that being the one of showing the ship turn over before sinking, while in reality it turned over while under. Everything else is dead on, the iconic outline of the first shit it was engaging, the torpedo bomber hitting the rudder while it was trying to escape, the shot that hit the bridge with the commanding officers, the 3 turrets being knocked out of action while it fires its last salvo, the torpedoes they hit it with to finally sink it for good (although debated if thats what did it or the german engineers scuttled it), the turrets falling out of their mounts when it turned over underwater so they landed a bit ways away from the actual ship. Even the before the music video, the barely audible radio reporting of the Bismarck sinking the Hood while the crew makes their way to the skipper (the event that led to the big hunt and eventual sinking of the Bismarck, so it fits the report is played before the story of the hunt is told) the skipper's cabin being filled with mementos from the war (i cannot confirm this but the widely accepted rumor is that the man who plays the elderly skipper is the son of the last surviving sailor from the Bismarck and that the war mementos showed belong to him, again, i cannot find any way to confirm this so i would consider it false). Oh and the name they paint on the ship, Primo Victoria, the legendary song that started Sabaton as we know it. Would be correctly spelled as Prima Victoria but we cant all be fluent in Latin, i certainly am not.

Got to see them live WITH JUDAS PRIEST a couple years ago and they had one of the best opening sets I've ever seen. They are a really great band.

"Soldier of Heaven" is another really powerful one, along with the already mentioned "No Bullets fly" Story video. Also adding "The Last Battle", "Shuriyama", and "To Hell and Back".

This video was actually done for Sabaton by Wargaming, and the ships are from the game World of Warships. That's why the CG was so good. Also, saw these guys in St. Louis, and the wall of sound just about pressed me back against my seat when this song kicked off. They put on a great show.

Bismarck is my favorite. Such an interesting and gripping tale. The death star of the Third Reich essentially.

Everyone in the band is wearing their normal stage/ performing clothes . It's been basically same look for over 15 years now. Urban camo pants and black top.
