Hey RD Allen,.. I have a John Deere 310B where we took the head off and had it resurfaced, and magnafluxed and it's good, Im getting water in the oil and believe its the O rings on the sleeves because we drained the oil and, with the head still off we poured water down in the water side and it began to dribble out the oil plug hole, so likely it's the O rings, but do you know of any other common possibility like a crack in the block? It was running fine, just getting water in the oil, and the tops of the pistons were clean with no indication of water that I can see, and as I stated, it was running well, Thanks,..
Well your filling up your shop with a lot of parts , I forgot how many parts there are when you start diving into an engine ! When your done with the engine your Goin to have clean spot on the tractor ! XD , lookin gewd, lot of work Fer sure. Now you can see how well it was kept and used..now you can take gewd care of it when your done. The rust on liners prob. Water in rad ! :)
Like Crazy farmer bro says. Someone added water at one time. I have worked a wee bit with insert liners and they should not be rusty. Clean the rust off the liners and then wipe it with an oily rag. One other thing you should check is the radiator. I would hate to see you spend all this time and money only to have it overheat and destroy all your hard work.
That is a good point, I should check that radiator! I don't get thought why someone would have added water without coolant.... I don't plan on reusing the liners, I'm not sure what the tolerance is, but I have about .010 to .015 clearance with the pistons, which seems a bit high to me.

Yes, definitely adding up the parts!
The rust on the liners would’ve come from someone putting water in the radiator with no coolant
Or what I was wondering maybe even worse low on coolant?
