    I remember this movie and it's on Disney plus. I also remember watching it in school. But I think this movie is nice. My favorite songs in this movie are Just around the Riverbend and Colors of the Wind.

      I love the art of the movie. Especially the forests and rivers they made. Really beautifully made movie.

    Even though this movie isn't based on actual history itself, it's still a great movie to watch. One thing I love about this movie is it's got drama in it.

    Amazing movie. Glad they had native Americans in it. Can’t believe Stephen Schwartz worked on it. He’s so amazing

    I'm not here on a lesson in political correctness I'm here to know the reasons behind the design like colour scheme choices and who the characters images are based on, stuff like that. Alternate endings and story decisions. Beauty and the beast has one of the best "makings of" and its older footage. Something like that please! oh well, too late.

      Oh is it hard to hear about the holocoust of native americans or more correct first nation people. Or afraid to learn. To learn history is important and Pocahontas yes is a disney movie but it is also important to know what this people went through in the essence of the history.

    Pocahontas launched the tobacco industry, true story. Pocahontas was stolen from her home as a bargaining tool, again true. Pocahontas was forced into Christianity, so in what way was her true story less dramatic than this fiction!? Why would the Great Russell Means applaud this? The music and art is pretty, so it’s a guilty pleasure for me but the real story is very important to history and teaches people not to control another people group and force religion on them.

    Sorry, Mr. Keene, I respect your work, but don't make a point of talking about how you explored the actual landscape and site if you were just going to redesign it to your own imagination anyway. It's the James River, not the Amazon. It's swampy and marshy, and there are NO majestic waterfalls and cliffs for dramatic dives. *sigh*

    • @osimeon00
      @osimeon00 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To be fair, West Virginia is more accurate to the landscape in the Pocahontas film because it actually has all those things.

    • @stormygirl84
      @stormygirl84 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +osimeon00 But that's not where this takes place. I mean, even the western part of Virginia, as well as West Virginia, look like that. But this takes place on the eastern coast. Like I said, I live on the site of Werowocomoco. Looks nothing like that. Neither does Jamestown proper. That's poor research.

      HAHAHAHAHA!! When I moved to VA and was there for about three years, I quickly realized this! And trust me it's a running joke with the artistic community in the area, and it never fails to give me a giggle.

    • @Gemini053
      @Gemini053 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not gonna argue with you about things you obviously know but I mean...The setting of the movie took place nearly 400 years ago. Do you think that there could be a possibility that the waters were clearer with huge cliffs and waterfalls?

    • @stormygirl84
      @stormygirl84 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gemini053 No. Not only is there plenty of geological evidence (besides, it would take WAAAAY more than 400 years to bring soaring cliffs like that down below sea level where we are now), there are also plenty of contemporary accounts from settlers detailing the land. Rolling hills, sure. But mostly marshland.
      Way more oysters in the rivers, though, so they had that going for them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    ugh this isn't fun, this is taking itself SO SERIOUSLY (I have watched nearly all the makings of via my disney dvds, being an artist myself).
    I don't like her soft kid-glove voice when talking. I feel like she is reading a picture book to 4 year olds, explaining every little simple thing, not speaking to the audience with respect nor entertaining us. It's not engaging and i just zone out. Adults & college students watch this stuff, not children. They tip toe around everything.
