    FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will not be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.

Thanks for helping me finish my moms blanket! Quite a few years ago I crocheted a bunch of squares and never quite finished making them into a blanket. My mom took them home and sewed them all together and put a nice border around them and gave me back the finished blanket. While she was in the hospital she asked me for a blanket to keep her warm so I gave it back to her to have. Incidentally it is the same blanket she had on her when she passed on June 6th last year. The border she put on her blanket was the same that was in your video
After she died and we were at the apartment clearing away some of her old things we came across a collection of squares she crocheted. My step dad didn't really know why she was making them, so I asked if I could have them and make them into a blanket. I just completed this blanket today, and with the help of your video was able re-create the same type of border that she used. It was my mother who taught me how to crochet to begin with, thank you for allowing me to honor her one last time this way!

What a touching story.I send my sympathies to you. When l was little my mother crochet a blanket and mind her saying 3 in the whole and 3 at the corner.During lock down I took up the challenge of learning to crochet following Sarah Jane tutorial it worked and think my mother would have been amazed and yes it's the 3s but I know now it's a treble crochet.

I have just crocheted my very first baby blanket for a nephew and his wife's baby and I needed to add a pretty border to set it off nicely and I chose the shell border that Bella Coco had posted. I thought she did an excellent job in showing step by step instructions how to do it and it worked out perfectly for me to understand and it was easy to follow. Very pleased with my finished baby blanket! Thank you so much!

You're gonna want to add more double crochets to do the corner scallops. My piece looked good with 8. So you do clusters of 5 D.C.'s along the straight sides and then clusters of 8 for the corners. If it bunches/curls, do one less, If it stretches out the stitches add one more D.C. It depends on the thickness of your yarn/hook but clusters of 5's and then 8's on the corners worked for me.

    • @donnabuttons1
      @donnabuttons1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@dianaponraj3108 I'm at that stage myself right now. I'm trying 3 single crochets (as there are 3 chains on the corner). Looks okay so far and should hopefully keep it simple when I come back round with the shells.

I learned how to crochet by only watching your videos. They are so descriptive and very well done! Thank you! Thanks to you I have now used this last video to end of my first beautiful blanket for the kid I am about to start fostering. I needed something to encourage me to pray for foster children, so I started crocheting and praying! Looking forward to learning so much more from you!

I watched all your tutorials from the beginning on how to crochet a granny square, put it together and do a lovely border, I had never done it before, your tutorials were so clear. I was amazed and very happy with my finished blanket for my 4 year old granddaughter, she had been watching me do it and just loves it. Thanks so much for such informative videos.

Thank you Bella for teaching me how to crochet! I just finished my first baby blanket for my grandson, and added the scalloped border. Crocheting is a very soothing activity after a long, stressful day. Back in the days before TH-cam, it would have been hard to learn by trying to follow diagrams in instruction books. Thank you again!

As Sarah Jane said below I have also gone through loads of video's to find a easy to watch calm way of doing edging. I have managed to follow your footage and do the pretty edge on my soon to be Grandchild blanket. Never crocheted before in my life. My Nan, Mom and Sister could all crochet and tried to teach me....just couldn't get it and I am 51. Great, thank you. I love it now and watching your other video's. xx

Started this week with the basic granny squares for beginners, great start, had colour block and also two tone, then looked at your border tutorial and have now just reviewed your scalloped edge and will be finished my first blanket tonight! Thank you so much, I wanted to crochet a pram blanket for my first grand child, but was a little apprehensive as my crochet skills were very limited, but with your tutorial, patience and very detailed explanations, I have been able to complete the blanket in a week, so thank you so very very much, I'm pleased as punch with it and I'm sure my daughter and soon to be grand daughter will be delighted with it in a months time when the new arrival comes. So, now for a cot size blanket and maybe different edging, thanks, brilliant, will recommend to friends and I have just joined a craft class, so have told them all about your great tutorials. Thanks a lot

For those having asked about doing the corners I looked through the answers and Bella's answer is as follows.."You would just continue as normal and you can skip a chain if needed to make it sit correctly."
Hope this helps everyone that needed help with corners.

Do you know why she didn't start in the corner? Is there logic to why she started just off the edge...and how many stitches from the corner?

It is such a pleasure to learn how to finish a blanket that has been crocheted. I also love the colours and style of the blanket you are using to illustrate your edging. It has inspired me to crochet a blanket with similar colours. I have done a few with very bright shades but yours with pastel shades looks so pretty.

Very informative video. I was so pleased to watch you do the edging and you explained it so well. I was also interested in the base stitch you did of single crochet. I have been struggling round a biggish blanket stitch by stitch. The way you did it was much simpler. I will watch your video again. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much, my blanket now has a lovely edge around it, was worth spending the time putting the treble crochet and single crochet layer on before the scallop edge as it pulled in my loose stitching and gives it a better shape. Was shocked at how much wool I went through...and how long it took but it's worth the time and effort, really pleased :D In future videos please can you remember to show how to do the corners too to save me searching elsewhere for the answers :)
