I have nearly 2,000 hours in Stormworks yet this is the first ECU tutorial that has actually worked/explained to me how an ECU works, you've just gotten a new susbcriber :D

That was a really good breakdown for a basic engine. I really hope you do one on Stoichemotery. I can't wrap my head around how to use it properly.

It’s because it doesn’t work like an actual diesel. Set it to around .45 or so for power

There is another video, but it isn't really broken down, there's just a copy-pastable function in it that you can use for stoich

Modular engines were alwasy hard for me but now it feels so easy thanks to this vid!

Im following this guide along step by step. This is much better than the offical stuff in the main menu. Thanks a lot Captain.

After copying this engine and building it, I found a 0.0001 integral component really helped with this system's idle capacity under load (esp. gearing up). Set it up under a flappy paddle system and it transfers between gears very smoothly and idles happily on all gears. The main thing is you need to rev a little to switch into first, which I think is normal.

Love the way you explain things! Wish this video existed when I first tackled modular engines months ago, would've been so helpful. By the way love seeing how different approaches to logic ultimately lead to similar outcomes, like running the air and fuel ratio and the anti stalling logic, I used different methods but they still worked, that's some credit to the game

thanks almost easy to pick up on. i dident want to use the W and S for throttle so instead of making seat a composite i made it a number and labeled it throttle and with some playing around with it and changing gears its working well now and dosent seem like ima blow up my engine at start up lol. only added that aspect of your microcontroller (having modular engines idle at low rps and go up when u want it to) i like pressing the buttons for things lmao

Overall great tutorial, some minor mistakes
    (didnt connect radiator to battery)
But doing a one hour tutorial, with one long take is a task in itself, eagerly waiting for the stochiometry lesson!

you want keep 0.2 for efficiency, so around 13.7 to 14.0 afr as temperature rises from 20°C to 100°C

Hi, this is decent tutorial. Flywheel boosts engine power by reducing losses caused by mechanical parts such as gearbox, clutch, propeller...etc. Also coolant water tank is required for cooling very small engines; single cylinders definitely need it, not sure about 2 cylinders.

I did not see how to engage the load to the engine, so I connected the Composite Read to the clutch for when I press "W" which engages the load (propeller in my case). I probably just missed it, but went back through a few times and could not find where you connected the clutch. Thanks for the video, it really helped.

Just of curiosity, if an engine is built using this microcontroller for a boat application has there been any erratic RPS related issues while idling?

how u move tho when config the microcontroller? cuz i cant move from place to place, i’ve been doing it like moving the node and composite stuff instead of my cam position. what do i do wrong and what i did not know?

ok so me and my 2 firends now have a 4 cyll rig and we still have absolutely no clue what the pvalue in the uper pid does. some how tweaking it can make engine take rps more aggresively but we really dont understand how

Thank you, this is an excellent guide. I followed step by step, and success. However when i tried to add in you auto clutch. I had an issue. My rps oscillates i havent hooked up the gear neutral position. i replaced the constant number That was set to 5 with a p value, but it oscillates all but when it set to 18, correction it still oscillates with 18 but not much. I get that now the car only moves when the rps reaches 18. not sure what im doing wrong. The rps does not go higher than 5rps when the constant number is set to 5. i think this is got something to do with it. lol
