Battling Arctic Winds And Ham Radio Blackout: ALASKA

- “Join me for a challenging Parks on the Air (POTA) activation at Finger Lake, Alaska, where winter threw everything it had at me! With a brutal wind chill of -10°F and a complete radio blackout caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME), this activation was anything but routine.
Setting up in my Kodiak canvas truck tent provided much-needed shelter from the Arctic winds, but the CME presented a unique twist, cutting off communication.
Will I manage to log any contacts despite the solar storm? How does the Kodiak tent hold up in such extreme weather? Find out in this thrilling adventure that showcases the rugged beauty of Alaska and the unpredictability of ham radio in the wild.
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to follow more epic POTA adventures!”

Love the song, 73's
Thanks my friend! 73
Great video. Most underestimate the planning, zillions of shots, and editing behind this cinematic vibe. You nailed it. Great work. 73
Thanks my friend!! It’s much appreciated. Thanks for watching. 73
Really enjoying your channel and hope to get you in the log sometime. 73
Thanks my friend! Looking forward to it, 73

Haha thanks my friend! Nothing like a cup of Joe! Thanks for watching!
I'm glad you get to enjoy the creature comforts, but man it makes me realize how hardcore pioneers were. Thanks for all you out into videos.
You are absolutely correct my friend! We have the leisure of technology and the “easy” way of surviving in this environment. The pioneers didn’t. The pioneers were hardcore for sure! Thanks for watching my friend, 73!
Thanks for the video. Sometimes, the radio gods are not in our favor 73
@@KG6UQA That’s for sure my friend! Thanks for watching, 73
The worst day doing POTA is better than the best day working.
Nice start with the magic bean juice.
Greetings from Minnesota. - KF0QNM
Absolutely my friend! Thanks for watching! 73
Love that song. By the way, I’m in Florida and if it’s below 60, it’s too cold to POTA, lol. But you know what, we will suffer through and maybe go next weekend. 73
Thanks my friend!! Haha, 60° and we’re playing in the water. 😆 Thanks for watching! 73
Great video! Thx for sharing. N4TRD
@@huntersvilledude Thank you my friend!! 73

Thanks my friend!! Wonder if Taylor would hire me haha!
Oh wouldn’t that be great!! Thanks for watching my friend! 73
Your outdoor ham radio videos make it seem like an epic adventure. The video production and voice over certainly add to that feeling. If your day job doesn't work out, I am sure you could get work in outdoor video production. Well done.
Wow, thank you for the words my friend!! I really enjoyed making this one and felt natural unlike others I’ve done. It was a lot of fun to edit as well! Thanks for watching my friend, 73
Radio Day was a failure, but the video show is Great! Thanks for this, dear Jeramy! 73 - Happy New Year!
Thank you my friend! Happy New Year to you and your family! 73
I need that song! Great video!
Thanks for watching my friend! Did you see the link in the description? 73
It was always nice to see and know how other operators setup for an activation.
Better luck next park.
Stay safe DV1K 73
Absolutely my friend! It’s always a treat to see how other hams do it! 73
Cool new video. The music is nice and the change in artistic style of the videos adds a feel to them. Good job my friend. Hope to see you this summer. Again thanks for all the help.
Thank you my friend! Editing this one felt natural unlike any others I have done. To top it off, was fun to edit. Thanks for this and for watching! Safe travels, 73!
Inspirational video. In Fairbanks, the aurora was SO bright that it actually woke me up at 1:10am with bright green light flooding my bedroom. But, yes... bands are no-existent. Getting a tad better - maybe for this upcoming weekend?
Thanks my friend! Wow, I’ve seen some bright ones but never that bright. I bet that was a sight to see. Thanks for watching! 73
That's a really cool setup! It's too bad the bands were horrible. Great job on the video though!
Thanks brother! Thanks for watching, 73

Great video 👍 just curious I have one of those Mr heaters haven't used it yet How long does it last on a small tank of propane?
Thanks my friend! It depends on the setting but I’d say about 4 hours or so. Thanks for watching, 73
Yep. Same thing here in Northern Nevada. Complete blackout. Not even ft8 lol. Neat truck tent. Who wrote and performed that music for you?
Thanks my friend! The song was written by me and transformed by ai. I’m in talks with a local band who I hope will record it. Fingers crossed! Thanks for watching my friend! 73
@@KL7ECoutdoors You write well.

I saw you pop up on HamAlert and I gave it a try, but it wasn’t happening on that day.
Hopefully another day my friend! Thanks for watching! 73
Digging the Ham Alaska vibe should be a Discovery show or something minus all the fake drama they back into those types of shows.
Thanks my friend! Wouldn’t that be something! Thanks for watching, 73!
Well, if hasn't been said already, chock this up as a great coffee video
Haha, absolutely! I couldn’t the day go to waste! Thanks for watching, 73
You should add a section to your description of the video with the products you use in your videos. I would be interested in buying some of them. What kind of shoes are you wearing.
That’s a great idea! Boots are Korkers polar vortex 1200. Thanks for watching! 73
I am looking for good equipment to go out in the winter in. Yes it is not as cold in ct as it is in ak but being warm and safe is my priority
@@stephenvandyke8014 I completely understand! 100%
Who sang the intro song? Some day I will work you from Kansas 😂
I wrote the song but a computer sang it! Thanks for watching! 73
Awesome change-up on the music. AI? I've had Kodiak Canvas tents for quite a while and they've been great shelter in some pretty adverse conditions.
Side note, it looks like they've updated their design with the rail that goes on the bed of the truck. That was a good move. Lots easier to set up.
Thanks my friend!
My problem with the truck tent was the tonneau cover. I ended finding those bigger C clamps. The cover serves as a table so it works out for my setup. Thanks for watching my friend! 73
Awesome opening song!❤❤❤
Thank you my friend!!
Is this some sort of AI generated music?
I wrote the song and inserted into AI for the vocals and music. Thanks for watching my friend!
