Dude, I used to own `14 huskies. Four is actually a lot easier than one. They play with each other and burn off some of their energy together so they're not as inclined to mischief.

    • @lishieandfamily
      @lishieandfamily  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

4 is definitely not easier then 1 it’s hard work, we have fight, between my older 1 as my older girl is on medications that make her hungry all the + she has the health of a 12 year old girl earlier this year I paid for surgery for a fracture, walks are 2x harder if they see a cat or another dog, my younger to are sisters so more sibling rivalry also their own personalities too then 2 who can climb tree and so much more but 2 is also easier then 1 for sure. With my 4 even though it is hard work I wouldn’t have it any other way ❤️❤️

After many dog breeds by chance a husky found on the street (lots of stray dogs here) entered our home. It took loads of patience to stop it from being scared for everything, but what a fantastic dog, drives us crazy but you cannot help loving him, he enriches our life and is lots of fun to have around. If you can spare the time for long walks or jogging at least once a day every day, a Husky is the most incredible dog to have in your home! We can go shopping without a problem, but if we stay away too long the neighbors go crazy from his endless crying and howling...... everything else you read is true too, stubborn, independent, difficult eaters, but also loving, funny, likes to talk, smart, not a boring day in your life with a Husky around!

I have worked for Animal Control & have had a Rescue for over 12yrs, & every time we get Huskies,...........they can't be contained in a regular dog run........They are so smart that they climb out, so they have to be in a run with a top! Oh, & they also know how to lift the latch of the gate, so we have to put a padlock on it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could pick the lock, lol......They are that smart, not to mention ESCAPE ARTISTS!

Escape artist is the biggest understatement I ever heard. I had trouble with mine undoing her collar so I got a braided one with the clasp locked into the D ring thought I was pretty smart , but the spring loaded clip on the chain was no match for her so I got a carabiner...no good. Chain link connector with a threaded closer, there finally got her beat...yeah, for about an hour. I get a phone call that my dog is running around the neighbourhood again...impossible! She wouldn’t be able to undo a threaded link 2 inches under her neck. But there was no dog at the end of her chain, just an unscrewed link connector. Finally that setup with some 100mph tape tightly wrapped around it and she finally just let me win and stayed on her chain.
Unless I dared to go anywhere and not take her along.

    Two surprising things about them:
    1. They live on air. A bag of top quality dog food lasts FOREVER. I don't know how mine is even alive.
    2. For all their love of rooting in mud they self-clean as if by magic. Their coats repel dirt. It's bizarre.
But oh my God the shedding.....

I'm in no way an expert on this, but I have a theory that because Huskies traditionally lived and were bred in colder environments--their skin produces more natural oil than some other breeds. The reason being is that it keeps clumps of snow from catching and forming on their coat (I had a poodle mix, and a yorky mix---snow would clump up in their fur every winter) the oil being a kind of natural anti-cling agent lol. Just some thoughts and theories.
Edit: basically it pushes out from the skin to the ends of the folicles any snow / dirt / grime. Giving them an unusual always clean look and not residue smell.

I thought that was only my dog he never eats i swear he keeps a secret stash somewhere or something we give him food when we eat and he eats like half and starts to sleep till he has to use the restroom. One day he is dirty a bit then the next day he is clean and we didn't give him a bath in awhile. Shedding isn't a huge problem for us as he is outside a lot either in the pool or just chilling in the shade. He does sleep with me inside but shedding isn't bad

    • @moealsharif13
      @moealsharif13 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think mine hunts his food, that's why his bag lasts forever. He looks very well fed compared to what he eats. He also brought me two rabbits he refused to eat.
One when I picked him up from the shelter, and a 2nd one when I moved to the country and he got a much larger yard.

I had a Husky many years ago. She was an escape artist too. A neighbor always let me know. I'd go to get her and she played dead dog. Most of the time I'd have to pick her up and carry her home. I'd grab her under her belly. Her paws would stick straight out and off we'd go back home. It wasn't long before the neighbors who didn't know me did. I'd see them in the grocery store, gas station, even the bowling alley and they'd say "I know you! I've seen you carrying your dog." Lucky this was before the days of youtube :) It looks like you are on your way to ten. All the best!

ONLY a husky Owner would understand is just about perfect. They have more energy than any large Dog and will play and play until they drop....20mins later they are at it again with just as much GUSTO as any/ They love to RUN around and do acrobatics that just amaze me with AWE..am I Right?
They talk like no other and you can actually learn to understand what they are thinking or need.
For ME...that's what I said, FOR ME, They are the smartest and most loyal of any other breed I ever had. I was given my 1st Puppy at about age 4 and I turn 70 in about a month so I've had a few.
I'm not living in a place for now to have another so I REALLY appreciate you for putting these together for us to enjoy and reminisce. THEY NEED ROOM, A lot of ROOM to Burn their inexhaustible energy. Yeah, I miss mine so much after they passed of old age. Thanks a ton.

She ran away for days, then when she was tired she came home as nothing happened, smiling as she was actually come back home after a lovely vacation. She was great. Gorgeous, funny, smart... This video surely shows what it’s like to live with Huskies. I’ve raised Siberian Huskies all my adult life. I’m 74 and retired. I adore the breed. They are challenging, but I wouldn’t trade the dogs I had for anything. Six years ago, my husband and I co-founded a wolf and wolfdog rescue here in Southern California. We live with a wolfdog, Sundance, that is part Gray Wolf and Siberian Husky. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, but, the challenge is real! LOL Triple the destructive behavior! We try to educate people about the pitfalls of wolfdog ownership; they aren’t for most people. And Siberian Huskies aren’t for first dog owners. Love your videos!! 🐾♥️🐾

Each Husky is unique in its personality, so the following may or may not work for you. When mine would escape, I learned the best way to get them to return to me was to lay down on the ground and feign injury. They would come to investigate and that's when I could get ahold of their collar. Works even better if you have a little treat in your hand, too. If you chase them, though, they'll just turn it into a game and always be _just_ out of reach.

    Husky; noun
    Dolphins with fur !
I have a Husky, Ebba, and the minute her eyes open she plays ! She is such a goober lol.
Huskies are the best dogs that have ever owned me lol.
Sadly, a lot of Huskies end up at the animal shelter.
They have a lot of energy and some people just can’t deal with their exuberant personalities !
However, they are easy to train, especially if you use food as a reward, they are very food motivated.
They are extremely loyal and protective and the majority of Huskies love children.
I think that’s because children have such high energy levels as well lol.
I have to congratulate Lishie’s family, to have four Huskies that are this happy and healthy says a lot about them ! Bless you !

You guys are great parents, you teach them boundaries while giving them affection, AND most of all you let them be dogs (do not expect them to act as human children)! THANK YOU!

These damn dogs are awesome!!! I had three of them, and never found any other breeds that had the human traits these dog had. I used to get into verbal arguments with a Malamute that got the neighbors in stitches. Biggest problem was with these guys running. I once had them run away for fifteen miles before i could catch up with them. The College kids they chased brought them back, saying "We didn't think they would follow us that far". And Destroying?? They ruined my utlity room when it got towards the first snowfall of the year. And god help you if you left them in your car for a few minutes!!- I rebuilt my pickup several times from their fits!! God how I miss those dogs!!!

I use to own a alpha female husky and she was very difficult to deal with. VERY head strong. She only lasted less than an hour in obedience class. As soon as the instructors approached us with the choke lease she drew her teeth back and snarled and that ended the class for us. And she ruled our yard with a iron paw. The two larger dogs walked a wide path around her and they each outweighed her by 40 lbs. Finally it got so bad that the vet ordered her some doggy anti-depressants to take and it did help to turn her flame down enough that the other dogs were able to tolerate her. I hated having to medicate her but it was either that or putting her to sleep which is something that I didn't want to do and especially to a young dog . . There was no way that I would have even considered finding her another home especially with her temperment. So we went with the medication.

This is so sad. Sorry for this harsh comment but this reminds me of the current trend of medicating school-age kids for behaviours that just one generation ago didn't require any fancy diagnosis and would be cured by, well, proper upbringing.

Omg!! Totally understand as I used to have two. The digging, ripping the fence apart, driving through town to find them after they run away, and fur after brushing them. Can completely relate!
