You should go crazy and react to Buckethead. Something completely different for you (no lyrics, just amazing guitar). Preview him by listening to Albino Slug album then react to soothsayer live.
You should definitely check Julie Christmas's work. She's quite unique in her style and has that raspy thing, both the porcelain and the one who breaks it. See her live, because that's where she expresses herself with her whole body and freaking passion. I'd say "The Wreck of S.S. Needle", that you can find with the timecode 17,25 on the video "Cult of Luna & Julie Christmas - Mariner live at de Kreun". This performance is epic. And Julie cleraly my #1 favorite female singer ever. She just gives everything on stage and you can clearly feel that. I hope it'll interest you enough. Julie "I have a present for you" Christmas. Legend.
Should check out in this river by black label society it’s a tribute song for dimebag darrel sung by his best friend zack wylde the song is only ever played using guitars that dimebag gave to zack
This song started as a 'bad relationship' song, and when the Slipknot bassist Paul Gray passed away Taylor dedicated the song in his remembrance. So this acoustic version is basically Taylor singing it to his now-gone friend.
There's a bit more to it, Corey was hesitant about releasing the song, but Paul pushed him to put it on the record. Snuff is also the last piece of Paul's music that was released before his death.
I saw him on his acoustic tour when he released his book Youre Making Me Hate You, and he does Q&A before he plays songs, and I got to ask him what his favorite album recording process from both slipknot and SS? And he said All Hope is Gone because it’s the last album he did with Paul, and he brought this up about Snuff!! He’s such a nice guy and I was happy I got to ask him a question
As others have said, the song is about a woman in his life that hurt him during dark times. He had help from Slipknot member and best friend Paul Gray. Corey has stated that if Paul hadn't supported and pushed him, he would not have released this song. The crowd sings with/for him as he would break down singing this. When Paul Gray died, this song forever became dedicated to him. Great reaction to an EPIC song 🤘🤘
He asks for “help” a lot on this song. Quite a few times he fails to make it through. You can tell it still hurts just as much every time, yet he still shares his pain with us all.
Find it slightly ironic that she's telling a singer with arguably the largest vocal range in music that he is slightly 'flat in pitch'. It's a song about his dead friend, if she's going to critique an obviously emotional performance then she should understand the background first.
This song is doubly heartbreaking. There's the obvious literal meaning of the song, about Corey's divorce, but it's also a song Corey didn't write for Slipknot. The Bassist Paul Grey championed it, bringing it to the rest of the band and convincing everyone that it should be a Slipknot track. Paul died in 2010 at 38 years old. Not only does this song have the weight of the personal history behind the lyrics, but also memories of his lost friend. Gotta be tough to perform.
Corey has an 5 to 5-1/2 octave range(depending who you ask). Dude can belt like an angel and scream like a demon... when he falls a little flat, that's serious emotion coming out.... also his damaged vocal cords from his early slipknot days.
10:35 when his voice cracks, a tear will always run down my cheek. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat an cried to this performance. Corey Taylor is one great musician, but one hell of a performer and person. I don’t care if your like Slipknot or not, Corey as a very special person on and off stage and can play a heart like a fiddle. RIP Paul and Joey🖤 Long live the Knot, long live metal🤘🏼
It took the death of hope to let you go... That hit so hard.. damn Also you are one of the few that actually paid special attention the lyrics which they absolutely deserve. So props to you for that
What a soul breaker of a song! "It took the death of hope to let you go" "If you still care, don't ever let me know" This quiet acoustic version hits harder than any heavy metal could. 💔And Maggie your reaction was perfect, feeling the song in addition to the analysis. This is why I love your channel, you cover all aspects of the music, the technical and the emotional, the how and the wow. And the editing supports it all. Excellent!
@@Jo_youwhatmate I was referring specifically to the Slipknot version of this song.. The words are difficult to understood unless one listens numerous times, preferably with a copy of the lyrics at hand. The processing and low volume of the voice track certainly does not help, submerging those lyrics well below the music. The video version further distracts from the meaning of the words, which is subtle and unless one can hear them clearly, the impact is muddled or even lost. But that is just my opinion, You are entitled to yours,
I've been waiting for her to do this ever since sound of silence. I'm so happy she finally heard this. Little backstory, Corey has tried to perform this song live several times before this and couldn't get through the song, he would break down crying and couldn't finish.
As someone who dated and loved a heavily depressed person just to be betrayed at the end with all of her emotional baggage still sitting around, I can't tell you how much I feel every word in this song.

The 'HATED' sign come from the fact that Corey is extremely opinionated on everything. And he gets a lot of criticism for it. In fact, there's a popular meme in metal that is the phrase: "But what does Corey Taylor think?" Every story in the rock and metal world, some wiseass will post that in the comments.

"Corey, who hurt you?!" I just watched The Therapist that he did. I think the more complete answer is: A Lotta Folks. Thanks for being brave enough to scream and sing your pain and rage into the world, Corey. You let a lot of other hurting kids feel less alone. Including the grown-up ones.
I tear up every freaking time at "I only wish you were my friend" verse. No matter how many times I hear this version. The raw pain and emotion. RIP Paul
The info page was wrong. The band Slipknot came first in which he is one of the founding members, and he joined Stone Sour to replace the lead voclist. Year were correct to my knowledge but they had the band backwards.
I'm so glad you mentioned my boy singing his heart out in the crowd because no other reactor I've seen has acknowledged him yet and he's got a set of lungs on him. The non-acoustic version has a few longer notes like that which I think is where he's getting them from (there's a bit towards the end where Corey paused before his one but CrowdMan goes right in where he expected it to be). Worth noting too (and chat might have pointed this out outside of the part cut down for 'tubes but) Corey wrote the song and was quite nervous to bring it to the band because it's a very personal song, and it's also a lot softer than some of Slipknot's generally heavy vibe. The bassist, Paul Gray, was really instrumental to pressing him to go ahead with it. Since then though Paul has passed away and it adds a double-layer to the sadness because Corey's thinking both of the original meaning and of Paul - he's dedicated performances to him ("When I hear you all here singing the songs, it like he's here in the f-n room man" [paraphrased] ) and he's broken down on stage more than once. Great song, recommend listening to the non-acoustic Slipknot version too at some point. Happy reacting!
There's another live performance of this song like this, but he actually has to stop singing because he breaks down in tears, so the crowd keeps singing for him.
It was the last song he wrote/recorded with his Slipknot-brother, Paul Gray. The song was released on their All Hope is Gone disc. Paul died about 1.5-2 years later. This performance came after that which is why it's hard for him.
Though I've heard this version of the song no less than probably 30 or so times, I still can't listen to it without getting teary eyed. It's so emotional and the lyrics are extremely relatable. I haven't been a Slipknot fan for such a long time, but I absolutely love this song.
This song was my introduction to Slipknot, and it literally saved my life. I heard it right after my divorce was finalized and I was in an EXTREMELY dark place. These lyrics shook my core! Then I dived into their entire catalog and forever became a Maggot. I’ve seen Slipknot and Stone Sour live and Corey Taylor LOVES when the crowd sings along. Besides the powerful message of this song, he dedicates it to the late Slipknot bass player Paul Gray because Paul convinced him to put it on the album All Hope Is Gone. So whenever he plays it he thinks of Paul and of course that makes it that much more emotional.
The note the audience member belts out wayyy in the back is actually part of the song originally. Fantastic ear, most never notice it on their first listen.
The reason everyone screams is because he is one of the rare singers that literally make you feel what ever sings. Seriously whether it’s metal or something else you feel it especially live. I’ve been to well over 200 concerts and still he delivers.
Was at Wembley 1986 as a 32 year old now 68 will always be in my top five concerts of all time along with Led Zeppelin Earls Court 1975 Dire Straits Alchemy Hammersmith Oden 1983 and Bruce Hornsby and the Range again Hammersmith Oden 1986
You catch him looking up (for Paul his late bandmate) when he mentions angels, but miss the look up on "Then I could hurt you in the end". He also chokes on the "hurt" as this song is just that hard for him to sing. This song was written by him and Paul originally about his wife/ex wife but the song took on new meaning for Corey after Paul passed away. Such a powerful song.
This proformance was at a book store Corey wrote a book and this was a thank you for the fans that came to his book signing lmao he played a small venue but the setting is perfect for this melancholy piece. (He cover the opening for SpongeBob as a joke when he started the show)

Hello, another excellent reaction. There is another Acoustic version that is available on TH-cam but it does not have good video resolution. There, at the end Corey ends up crying.
Love love love the song- and, of course, the reaction. Great choice. Writing, like any art form, from personal experiences can be cathartic but really can take you down a dark journey to find that release. There is so much beauty that can come from so much pain. Here is hoping no one feels that level of pain, but if they do...hope springs eternal. Perhaps Corey needs a hideaway? A place to heal within?
@@maggiereneemusic Hi Maggie! I just found you just now! Fantastic react, and I love your perspective. I’d like to add some more context to the comment you replied to… This song began, like other have mentioned as a Slipknot song about Corey’s past with a former flame. There’s a bit more to it. This song was Slipknot’s first “ballad” as it were. They’re obviously known for their brutal musical style, so this was a big departure. Corey said during the premiere of the video to this song, that the subject of this song had weighed on him for a long time, and this was the way he could let that part of his life go. The video plays like a short movie, with lots of twist & turns, and it was a big deal. Where the meaning shifted, again like others have mentioned, is when Slipknot bassist Paul Gray passed away. During a Q&A, Corey told the audience that it was Paul that originally got behind Corey’s idea for this song, and he helped Corey “push it thru” to the rest of the band and get everyone on board. Essentially, Paul had his back, therefore Snuff took on a whole new life of its own after Paul’s passing. I hope that sheds some more light on why this song means so much to Slipknot and their fans. Keep rockin’!! 🤘🤘
This whole concert Live in London or Hated concert. It's a hard song because of meaning/lyrics. But in this Performance it's because of friend/brother Paul Gray who died. The crowd helps him because of connection but also to literally help Corey through it. He feeds off their Energy
The acoustic version of Snuff is a tribute to Paul Gray, Slipknot Bassist, who passed away 2010 (according wikipedia), that's the reason, why the song is so heavy for Corey. Jesus... Coreys voice is so amazing. The "original" is a song by Slipknot. In the video Corey is shown without his mask for the third time.
"Zyzxd rd." And "Bother" from that live show are also nutssss. Nice reaction on this one, i was wondering if his "extra wide" neck has an effect on his singing and voice?
Learning that a good-looking, successful, rich, guitar playing artist can get dumped so hard made me feel so much better about myself. That really put things in perspective. I feel great right now. I'm glad I watched this video.
This live video and Disturbed performing sound of silence on Conan are my 2 favorite live rock videos. It’s the reason why disturbed and Slipknot are my favorites. Both are both full of passion and emotion.

It's nice that you are open to all sorts of music. This had the same feel as Hurt by Johnny Cash I think. Im sorry I missed you live Maggie.. (I live in sweden so it was a bit late). I'll try to make the next one :)
Great reaction as ever! I do wonder if we will ever hear it live from Corey again. The two people, Paul Gray and Joey Jordison, that pushed him to write and sing it have both passed now and he already connected it to Paul Gray who he dedicated the song to as part of his remembrance. With Joey passing this year it may have even more weight for Corey now.

Disturbed's debut Album, The Sickness was released in 2000, Slipknot's self-titled debut was released in 1999... So no, that wasn't "very David Draiman"... it was in fact pure Corey Taylor. ;) Also, if you want to see some very interesting vocal techniques by Corey... check out Slipknot's new song The Chapeltown Rag, released last friday! He does something on the chorus, that I've never heard before... I think you'll appreciate it.

in interviews, Corey has said it's about a relationship with someone who had let him down, but then after Slipknot bassist and longtime friend Paul Gray passed in 2K10, he dedicates this song to him
💔 Such an amazing song. I've been a huge Slipknot fan ever since their first studio album and love their softer songs just as much as their brutally heavy ones. Spot on reaction, so well done there! 💔
To add on to his heartbreak, his best friend who is also in the band and helping him finish the song died of a drug overdose so every time he sings this song there's dual heartache for him.
Corey is one of my top 3 favorite artists. I'm very particular about voices and Corey Taylors voice is by far my favorite one. I love this song and especially this performance. Thank you for checking it out. I really like Disturbeds version of The Sound Of Silence, too, but I don't really hear such a big similarity between Corey's and Davids voice. But that might be, because I've been listening to Rock and Metall for 30 years and have heard so many screams, growls, raspy voices, etc. Greetings from Germany

@@maggiereneemusic possibly, what time?
In less than 2 hours.
Introduced to yet another artist via Maggie Reneé, and the reaction just makes it!
YAY! 😊
David from disturbed isn’t even in the same stratosphere as Corey.
The note the audience member belts out wayyy in the back is actually part of the song originally. Fantastic ear, most never notice it on their first listen.
Man I was looking forward to this!
Yeah this one gets me in the feels big time. He's a real broken guy & I know that feeling very well
The reason everyone screams is because he is one of the rare singers that literally make you feel what ever sings.

Most definitely! 🤘😊
@@maggiereneemusic Hi Maggie! I just found you just now! Fantastic react, and I love your perspective.
I’d like to add some more context to the comment you replied to…
This song began, like other have mentioned as a Slipknot song about Corey’s past with a former flame.
Corey never disappoints, his voice is amazing right now too!
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Slipknot LIVE reaction stream tonight?
Having seen Corey as himself, in Slipknot and in Stone Sour, he commands the stage unlike anyone I’ve ever seen
You could listen to any song from this live performance and would not be disappointed
This live video and Disturbed performing sound of silence on Conan are my 2 favorite live rock videos. It’s the reason why disturbed and Slipknot are my favorites. Both are both full of passion and emotion.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but "Hated" is the name of the tour
One of your best reactions yet. Loved it

Wow, after a difficult week this song broke me, I felt so sad and emotional these last days that it was like a trigger to me, great reaction Maggie, as always, much love 🤗🤗💔
Would love to see you react to Corey Taylor CMFT must be stopped
See you tonight! 🤘
This song is so meaningful and poignant that just hearing you read the lyrics brought me to tears. That’s powerful stuff right there, Mags. 😭
He wasn't smiling. It was a grimace. He was putting everything into not losing it completely up there.
It's nice that you are open to all sorts of music. This had the same feel as Hurt by Johnny Cash I think.
Im sorry I missed you live Maggie.. (I live in sweden so it was a bit late). I'll try to make the next one :)
The audience is ever better during the song Bother from the same set.
b e a utiful Maggie. What a touching and emotional song.
I think "Hated" is the name of his solo acoustic show, a reference to the SlipKnot song "I am Hated".
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Slipknot LIVE reaction stream tonight?
You should react to bother from the same Show in London, the way corey and the crowd sing together is absolutely amazing
Thank you for your lovely comment. Will you be there for my 195K Subscriber Celebration Live Stream tomorrow?
Maggie hi, after "you got the song meaning" your reaction became what we love to see. Your true sef.

That whole concert is amazing
It says hated in the background as this was around the time of the release of his book "Your making me hate you" please check out Bother from the same show 🤘🤘
Disturbed's debut Album, The Sickness was released in 2000, Slipknot's self-titled debut was released in 1999...
So no, that wasn't "very David Draiman"... it was in fact pure Corey Taylor. ;)
Also, if you want to see some very interesting vocal techniques by Corey... check out Slipknot's new song The Chapeltown Rag, released last friday! He does something on the chorus, that I've never heard before... I think you'll appreciate it.

You should check out more of his songs from this 'hated' tour it is phenomenal. Bother from this live show is brilliant
This song saved my life when I was in a very dark period after a rough deployment to Iraq.
in interviews, Corey has said it's about a relationship with someone who had let him down, but then after Slipknot bassist and longtime friend Paul Gray passed in 2K10, he dedicates this song to him
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Slipknot LIVE reaction stream tonight?
💔 Such an amazing song. I've been a huge Slipknot fan ever since their first studio album and love their softer songs just as much as their brutally heavy ones. Spot on reaction, so well done there! 💔
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Slipknot LIVE reaction stream tonight?
Finally... Been waiting on this one... When I went through rehab, this was a love/hate letter to addiction for me
To add on to his heartbreak, his best friend who is also in the band and helping him finish the song died of a drug overdose so every time he sings this song there's dual heartache for him.
It says “Hated” because it’s on a book tour. He’s written four books I believe and goes on tour after each one. Highly recommend if you like reading.
Mr Taylor is a musical genius, one of thee best
Corey is one of my top 3 favorite artists. I'm very particular about voices and Corey Taylors voice is by far my favorite one.
I love this song and especially this performance. Thank you for checking it out.
I really like Disturbeds version of The Sound Of Silence, too, but I don't really hear such a big similarity between Corey's and Davids voice. But that might be, because I've been listening to Rock and Metall for 30 years and have heard so many screams, growls, raspy voices, etc.
Greetings from Germany
Greetings to Germany. Thank you for your lovely comment. Did you like the new reaction video I just posted? Hope to see you TONIGHT on my LIVE stream www.twitch.tv/MaggieReneeMusic?
You should the making of the music video and how hard it was for him to do
This song always gets me into tears, God
it just means something different to other people..the lyrics come into your heart and means what they mean to you
The same thing happened to me to I was suffering from depression and I had someone help me out I really liked her she was with someone who treated her like dirt and I thought I was helping her while she was helping me but it ended badly we both got hurt she didn’t realize that I knew she needed more help then me but yet we both broke are hearts I saw her the other day I was down town but she didn’t recognize me or she did and she didn’t say anything
One of my favourites is Be Somebody by Thousand Foot Krutch. Or if you’d rather a mixed male/female vocals song, check out Hero by Skillet
He is a good singer ngl he is my hero love him
YEEAAAH!! that's my chord
-Chordie taylor
thank you for another amazing song ♡

Pay attention to Slipknot this was all about Paul Gray's death that is why he gets so emotional I don't know if you've seen the video where he breaks down and cries on stage because of this song
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Slipknot LIVE reaction stream tonight?
I love this song more and more every time that I see this performance! 🖤🤘
You should hear the original slipknot version. You can see the times he breaks down, like when he says soul
You favorite reaction was a autotuned version of sound of silence?
I love this version of "Snuff" and I am so glad you liked it too. I am also glad you didn't slam him or the lyrics. Awesome as always, Maggie!
He actually says it's heavy 'cause it just reminds him 'bout Paul Gray who passed away not so far from this date, and now that Joey's dead too I can only think on how even sader must be to sing this song now
Hated is one of his books he was promoting. He does Q&A before concerts.
Fantastic Friday B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L young lady!!! 😘🤘❤ .. By the way,not sure if you've ever reacted to Shinedown doing Simple Man.. It's well worth a listen!!!
you should check out bother from the sane concert, best crowd interaction
