      I'm 75 , i've been covered by my wife insurance ( she still works ) for several , years & I have a heart condition for the last 15 years , so I've also carried a medicare advantage plan that between the two , have always paid the bulk of anything I've had done , but she just turned 66, & is going to retire the first of next year , would I be able to pickup a medigap plan for my self when I loose her insurance ? She'salready talked to medicare & is signed up for medigap for herself.

    Thanks Stephanie for all of your very useful videos and information. I have a plan N, and at age 72 have been extremely fortunate to have very minimal medical care needs to date. That said, I am having difficulty getting an appointment with a specialist (urology), and the offices in question (plus my F.P.) will not accept me without a referral. Everything I've read from CMS information on down indicates I shouldn't need a referral, and that is one of the many things that made me choose a Medigap plan. Your thoughts? Thanks again for your informative videos.

    Thank you for your help. Considering deferring my Part B and supplement G cause I have good coverage with my husbands job but just don’t know if that’s really a good idea for supplement G?

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your husband is actively employed and you have good (and inexpensive) medical coverage through his job, then you can delay Part B without penalty! When you do enroll, you'll have a new open enrollment period for Medigap/Plan G.

    Medical underwriting is a health insurance term referring to the use of medical or health information in the evaluation of an applicant for coverage, typically for life or health insurance.
    As part of the underwriting process, an individual's health information may be used in making two decisions: whether to offer or deny coverage and what premium rate to set for the policy.
    The two most common methods of medical underwriting are known as moratorium underwriting, a relatively simple process, and full medical underwriting, a more indepth analysis of a client's health information.
    The use of medical underwriting may be restricted by law in certain insurance markets.
    If allowed, the criteria used should be objective, clearly related to the likely cost of providing coverage, practical to administer, consistent with applicable law, and designed to protect the long-term viability of the insurance system.
    It is the process in which an underwriter considers the health conditions of the person who is applying for the insurance, keeping in mind certain factors like health condition, age, nature of work, and geographical zone.
    After looking at all the factors, an underwriter suggests whether a policy should be given to the person and at what price, or premium.

    My mom qualified for disability and Medicaid when she was 55. It looks like she was enrolled in Medicare advantage. Wondering if she would be able to potentially sign up for medigap when she turns 65 if by any chance she doesn’t qualify for medicaid at that time.

    I've been trying soooo hard, with a broker, w/SSDI, Medicare A and B, with the buy in, paid fully with MA Health-, my medicaid, full, my secondary insurance. I get all benefits. I'm moving and I'm only eligible for medicaid, for Medicare B premium paid and I believe, as told today, qualify for Prescription drugs extra help. I'm so confused about the terms, as I'm on SSDI & was told not to get Medigap, bc of the premium. To get an an advantage plan. This is moving from MA to NC. I'm terrified 😨.

    Thanks Stephanie for the great information. One question that I have is will Medigap coverage go back and cover any medical costs the I may have that could happen before I apply for Medigap insurance since it seems that you have to be covered under parts A&B first? I believe you mentioned that you have 6 months to sign up for a Medigap policy. Thanks again.

    Do you have to go through medical underwriting when going from plan F to G with the same company as your plan F when outside of your 6 month window?

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In most cases, yes. Switching to a new plan letter means a new application, which would be medically underwritten in most states.

I think the rep said today that I will be able to shop for Medigap insurance once I get my Medicare card, but Part B doesn’t happen till July 1. So do I call a agent like yourself in 2 weeks or wait till June ?

    Thank you. This is very insightful. I have a fundamental question. Is Medigap insurance completely funded by beneficiaries? Or the firms who provide Medigap plans get reimbursed (completely or partially) by the government or CMS? I basically want to check if Medigap is a government plan (like Medicare and Medicaid) or a private/commercial plan. Thanks again.

    I'm turning 65 in April. I intend to continue working and use my company's group insurance. Also, I have an 18-year old daughter covered on that plan. Do I have to sign up for Medicare Part A? My concern is missing a required window and paying lifetime penalties. Thank you.

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency

      No, you can delay Part A without penalty. When you go to enroll in Medicare upon retirement, your Part A will be made retroactive.

    Hi Stephanie, I have a question. I'm turning 65 in July. in order to apply for Medigap do I have to do it before enrolling for part A and B or it can be after enrolling? I also would like to know when is the time frame to enroll to Medigap? Thanks!

      Roman, many Medigap insurance companies will let you enroll up to 6 months prior to your 65th birthday even if you have yet to enroll in Parts A and B. If you turn 65 in July, now is the best time to get started. Call us anytime! (888)465-9728. We’d love the opportunity to assist 🙂

    If I am presently not allowed to sign up for a Medigap Insurance policy because I am on Medicare and Medicaid simultaneously and at a future date my income increases to the point that makes me no longer eligible for Medicaid will I then be able to add a Medigap policy without underwriting or penalty and are insurance companies required to sell me a Medigap policy just as if I’d signed up for it at the same time as I signed up for Medicare Part B?

    Is medicare obligated to cover all unexpected medical issues for example arthritis, alzheimer’s disease, cancer, mental diseases, respiratory diseases? If there is something medicare will NOT cover, is it more likely the insurance company will also NOT cover it?

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Medigap plans must cover any claim approved by Medicare. Additionally, you can check on Medicare.gov (the search bar in the top right corner) to see what types of services Medicare does and does not cover. In general, Medicare covers all of the issues you’ve listed above, as well as any medically necessary medical service. I hope this helps!

Money comes first with these jackals so the hell with them. There's absolutely nothing she can say to get me to believe that it would be in my best interest to trust an insurance company. JEEZ
