Centering prayer, silence prayer etc; any of that is emptying the mind and when thats done evil angels can speak to you and influence you in a demonic fashion all under the guise of Christianity. It’s a dangerous deception. If you want to get close to Christ open His word and study it. None of this other stuff can lead you to salvation.

I understand that some “mystics” were way woo-woo, but many loved God with all their hearts and enjoyed an intensely personal friendship with Him. Thank you for sharing. A few clarifications…neither Joni or I follow his practices, but we’ve gleaned from them. And I believe that Christ’s suffering is my only redemption - nothing more is needed. But I’m grateful that God harnesses suffering and works His purposes in our lives, giving us everything we need to persevere so that we come out of the fire shining like gold.

I simply need to acknowledge His presence and develop the habit of a continual conversation with Him! That’s what Joni and I talked about and what Bro Lawrence inspired for both of us. It isn’t a ritual but a relationship. This is the rich inheritance we’ve been given yet so many people miss it.
No!. When we surrender to the Lord and repent, His HolybSpirit comes to indwelling us, give us new hearts and writes God’s laws on it. Heb.8:10 and 19:16. We are continuously in His presence. We have new desires, and love Him and His Words. He leads and speaks to us.Formulas are man made methods and will only bring deceptions. We pray continuously and seek,ask,and knock at heavens door, not the door of humans. These are days of deceptions. “ A broken and contrite heart He will not despise.” Relationship with God is a heart issue.

Many that don’t link the practice to His presence at all. Jesus said, “I will be with you always, even to the end of the age.” And the whole of the New Testament teaches us that He dwells in our hearts by faith and through His Holy Spirit. Communion is a holy and important practice that Christ called us to so that we “Do this in remembrance of me.”

@@JoannaWeaver I used to be a Pentecostal street preacher. The Holy Spirit led me to a Catholic Church where I opened the door and He was in the room coming from the tabernacle. It was not my small belief cause I had no prior knowledge.
