Yeah, sometimes it takes a second to understand which cut is being made in a woodworking video. It’s not a huge deal, but for a visual person the context does help put the pieces together.
Ben, been watching you for years & commenting for the first time. Not sure why I never commented before. So many of your projects are functional, super simple to build & cool as hell Man!!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
@@HomeMadeModern Bro., I feel a bit guilty. I know it's no biggie. Not sure what ever kept me from commenting for so long!! All the stuff that you, Mike & Rachel do is FANTASTIC!! Oh & the Container house was so DOPE Bud!!!
look's modern, that about it . 280 $ a sheet of ply, 250$ cushiness, bang up job that looks good only on phone screen GOOD MARKETING. slick editing, easy money
The bamboo ply is great material. I made a platform bed, nightstands and built-in cabinets using bamboo plywood (and baltic birch for the hidden surfaces and drawer boxes. The edges have great detail for no extra work.
Is it just me but I am amazed how Ben can free hand a diagonal cut with a circular saw? 😂 Maybe I'm just new to this, but I can't do it without a guide 😅
Dropping a deuce of certified bangers this week! Another really great sofa design! I'm even more excited about the new cushion brand....might need to make a sofa just for the cushions haha
How much did it cost to build the wooden frame as far as material goes? I am looking to build something like this for a tent in my backyard, so you answer is going to help me decide to build it or buy ready made. Thanks in advance
Love the sofa, did you have any problems cutting the bamboo ply? Did the edges fray and how did they look? What type of saw blade did you use? Sorry for all the questions, at over $275 a sheet I want to make sure the cut edges are clean without chips, etc.
Any chance y’all plan on releasing a chair cushion on the site? I’m wanting to build some MCM chairs and wanting to avoid getting out my wife’s sewing machine to make some cushions.
I'm well on this DIY couch train. I just worry about the cushions slipping. Probably okay for adults, but i've got 4 grommets that do somersaults and flips on the couch, or watch movies upside hanging off the edges. Any thoughts on how to secure the cushions? a small cleat at the front? ties? velcro? Or maybe this just isn't the design for me. Love the work man, thanks for the vids.
Wouldn't the cushions just slide off the sofa as you lean back? I guess you could put in some front strips to stop this from happening, or something the connects to the bottom of the cushion without sacrificing comfort.
more expensive but varies dependingon how many sheets you buy. I have paid between $140-$220. that's a lot but with sanded pine plywood at $64 a sheet it doesn't seem as bad to me.
How much are you paying for each sheet of bamboo plywood? I'm seeing over $200 / 3/4" panel, does that sounds right? The edges are very interesting. Much more of a high end look than normal plywood. It's beautiful wood, but woof, that price. All in with the cushions you are about $700 on materials, right?
cushions are the difficult part, indeed. Me and my wife made our own sofa. My design, my woodworking. she made the cushions. It cost about $250 for decent quality material (stuffing, batting, fabric, ect).wood was probably $150. redesigned/fixed things 3 times to get right. Took probably a combined 40hrs of work. Not an easy task to make something that's comfortable, good quality, and good looking.
Pray for my mother, she is in hospital as tested positive for covid. Although she was very calm at that moment but I am not able to control my anxiety 😭. I don't even have anyone to talk to.
Impressed with these jigsaw half laps! 🔥
Ben uyeda, modern builds, four eyes, and michael alms videos are soooo satisfying.
Agreed 😜
@@ModernBuilds wow i didnt really expected you to reply. Thanks for being such an inspiration specially for aspiring furniture builders like me.
Couldn't agree more!
I love the use of the diagram to provide context for what you’re cutting.
glad you liked it!

The edges look amazing after finish is applied. Really love the striped appearance.
its so nice!
Bamboo has such nice edges
It’s very nice to see the recent use of bamboo. It looks great!
You doing amazing bro.. I’m following you from Iraq 🇮🇶.
Could we get an updated link for these plans??
you are so right, that caramel colour is gorgeous!
It really is!

Well this looks fun. I do need something more fluffy for couch cushions, but this works well for my teenager. Good project and thanks for sharing.
Vegan leather, nice one bro plus cool name SCC
Appreciate it!
The sofa looks great! And the bamboo plywood has really nice edge!!
Thanks so much!
Also bamboo edges are tight!
yes!
its very very very good quality work ,
Very nice. Love the bamboo plywood.
Good idea with the cushion company. Cutting down mattresses with a boxcutter is not fun 😆
So true!
Awesome job.

Hi, do you think that bamboo plywood stringer than baltic birch?

go slow and keep your eye on the line!

Subbed and liked mas videos then finally realized it’s the same Uyeda that’s Schulz’s friend 😅 This makes it even better! 👌🏽
Nice. Cushion site has some dead links btw but I’ll def order from it for my vintage Motorhome remodel
thanks for letting us know
that looks amazing Ben!!
Fantastic work, Ben! Best of luck with the new company :)
Thanks so much!
Great channel, great projects.
Very nice presentation. Thank you.
Great video. Sofa is awesome. Well designed. Love that bamboo plywood. Mahalo for sharing!🙂🐒
Thanks for watching!
Great work! I’m going to give it a try!
very good job
i like your work
Great company idea, good price, someone should start a Canadian branch!
We agree!
This is a LOT nicer than Modern Builds' cargo crate of a sofa.
Would those sofa cushions not slide around quite a bit on that bamboo frame. Maybe some ties on the back to attach to the backboard?
How much did it cost to build the wooden frame as far as material goes?
I am looking to build something like this for a tent in my backyard, so you answer is going to help me decide to build it or buy ready made.

The bamboo plywood looks great. Where did you special order from? - Also your cushion website isnt working.
Is it possible to buy the cushions in France ??? It is exactly what I want !
Nice video! This sofa is fantastic 😍
Thank you! 😊
@@HomeMadeModern You're welcome 😊
Wouldn't some velcro strips reduce the possibility of the cushions sliding?
Woaw ibwant that 👍😁
make it!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi there! There is a problem with the link to Simple Cushion Company.
I'm really curious to see what this material looks like in a carved project with the layering. Good, I bet.
You and me both! going to try some CNC projects with it
Good job, nice content, skillful congratulations 👍🏻👏🏻☺️
Vegan leather!!! Yea!!
Good stuff
Thank you! Great video 😀👍🏻
Glad you liked it!
My bro it's wonderful God bless you thks yrs ogaba Thomas
I just called and this material is over $300 per sheet! (3/4") Yo! That's crazy
I am glad you answered tat, I wondered myself.
typical 2021 prices going wild. better to go with veneer walnut ply.
The free plan link is not opening bro!
Can i use the same design to make a queen bed?
Bonito mueble me gusto que se hizo con birch
Hi Ben, I'm one of Mike's subscribers thought I'd pop over

I'd like this for outside 🤔

How well would these cushions stand up outside, like for your exterior couch design?
Can this sofa be used for outdoors? Will the bamboo plywood hold up for NE outdoors temperatures?
your link to design is not working
Phần khung xương có thể làm được,vậy còn phần đệm bọc da thì không thấy đề cập...
Just wanted you 🔥🔥🔥😁👋📸
Whats the price of the plywood? Do they cost they same as birch plywood?
more expensive but varies dependingon how many sheets you buy. I have paid between $140-$220. that's a lot but with sanded pine plywood at $64 a sheet it doesn't seem as bad to me.
I called them: they said ~$275/sheet + shipping. The 1/2” was a little bit cheaper.
Lol 😆 so not only do I need way more practice on my jigsaw skills but apparently I also need to utilize my shot jigger when working on projects.
What happened to the cushions?
Sofa season
yes! sofa summer! need to get some outdoor cushions
How about cushions made out of Hemp canvas
God job
:)
ya, rilo kiley, nice.
is there a video on your french cleat wall showing
here you go th-cam.com/video/uHTN9jc3CLI/w-d-xo.html
Velcro the cushion to the Bamboo base so that your cushions won't slip.
Helo sir..can i use your video for my youtube video?
Bamboo plywood looking hot
yeah I did it!
Nice!
But you know bamboo is acctually not wood.
I know, i know. Smartass.
Great build and really liking this bamboo plywoo... hmmmm... ply material?
yes! I think it is actually a grass!

the 2x4s you used under the plywood doing the rip cut costs more than the plywood itself.
lol wood prices are crazy! we talked about it on a recent episode of the modern maker podcast
Your link is blocked? To your website.
Homemade shin catchers more like it 😅
Simple cushion company website is down, so no one can access the plans
This is the same plywood that Frank Howarth used for his kitchen cabinets.
I love frank!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Man needs a bench
Yo your links don’t work
💗
😍
sound is very low for me
RIP shins
Why not single check things?
Some ties on those cushions to keep them on the board would really help
I don't like ties for indoor cushions and in my experience the cushions stay in place just fine
Pray for my mother, she is in hospital as tested positive for covid.
Although she was very calm at that moment but I am not able to control my anxiety 😭.

You always plug your simple finish, but its never in stock!!
😀😍👋
Why is there a seam on the front of all of the cushions? 👎
Maker Brand is always sold out! 🤦🏻♂️
We should be having futuristic designs, instead its going backwards to the ugliest era of the last century.
This wont last for sure.
Atrocious.
