I was actually a bit excited when I heard the news that there was going to be a J.J. Abrams influenced comic series, but after reading through three issues of cringeworthy dialogue with a rushed plot, I'm starting to think that J.J. Abrams made this Spider-Man comic series just for the sake of proving he can make a Spider-Man comic series, and not a good one if I might add. I'm also getting the vibe that the character "Faye Ito" was probably written after Henry Abrams' actual girlfriend, or a girl he's crushing on.
Actually he looks to me a lot like Robert Evans. Which isn't helped by the fact that in this comic Peter is apparently a conflict journalist (the exact same profession that Robert Evans has)
Amen Sasha. Let the pineapples lay on pizza different strokes for different folks. Applies to food as much as anything else. Also a review of the Spider-girl series would make an amazing video as it is an amazing series. The true Spiderman legacy series even if some of the villians were not the most compelling. Keep up the great work.
@8:00 - SO JJ Abrams is bringing to fruition the unused subplot from ASM2? Or maybe partially-used? Or maybe it was totally in there? I don't know, my memory of those films is a bit hazy... "Spider-man's blood is special because of science his dad did!"
I've always thought Marvel editorial always had it bad against Spider-Man, but I think it extends to his fans as well. Spidey is only allowed to have a family in alternate future stories . It's as if editorial wants to say, "kids wanna relate to our heroes, they don't wanna get married or have children, they want to grow up to be omnipowered single losers!"
Really just discovering your stuff, and I gotta say that I love it. Your entire style is refreshing, funny, and awesome. Now, effusive praise aside, is there a follow up to this video? I want to know what happens next, but only if it’s presented with a generous sprinkling of Sasha brand salt.
.......I thought that the 80's-90's turtles changed that pizza toppings thing???? Aawww man, oh well, pizza. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and hard work with us dear sister. I'm glad that you read that, saving me the trouble, as you guide, it's not really a compelling yarn, just average.......should it be better?? probably, considering the source,....????? naahhh, tis more of the "shoulder patting" you spotlighted. Oh well, business politics. MAD LOVE Miss Puzzler, sensational spreader of supremely special salty sass, PEACE.
"Talk to me...When he's putting pieces of chalk on his pizza." No need to pica shame, neither. The iron deficiency game is real in these virtual streets...
I think at that point if they want to make spider man surprising . Peter Porker is happy . Married and simply dealing being a father and a super hero .
I don't even want to read anything Abrams has touched now, this entire series is meh, but I *looooooove* your videos and reading and reviews and analysis 😂 this is the best.
Nah, I'm not reading it, and just from here (though of course I'm enjoying your take on it) it doesn't seem worth buying, at least not at full price. Maybe down the line when it's collected and there's a sale on Comixology or something. I'd rather go re-read the "Old Man Logan" trade.
I’m not reading this comic, I’m just here for the salt - I ran out and it’s too hot to go to the shops. .. .... I’m really loving your take on this series despite having no desire to read it 😁
So if Riri is the Pepper stand-in in this universe, does that mean she’s marrying her Tony in 10 years? 😂 Also, IM2 Tony is the most objectively “charm your panties off” Tony and I will not hear otherwise lol
It's like both Abrams watched the MCU and then skimmed ASM: Renew Your Vows, Marvel Zombies, the MC2 comics and any story with Spidey's parents, and then decide they should do their own fan fic. Very derivative. (Cadaverous is basically a cyborg version of Regency at this point) I honestly thought that Henry Abrams was a child when I first these issues; like it was a whole Axe Cop sort of collab, and that is why the story seems shallow. He is actually in his 20s (so I guess my assumption was wrong), so now he just seems like it's a rich kid, living off his dad's coattails. Trying not to judge, and I guess take every opportunity life throws at you, but from a POV that's just how it seems. It's just weird that these two, neither of who have any comic writing credits to their name, got a mini-series of Marvel's flagship character. I get that JJ is super successful with his films, but from what I understand, writing for a film is completely different to writing for a comic book. It almost seems like Henry wanted to write a Spider-man comic, and asked his dad to pull a few strings. And I guess if you are famous enough, and you bring in billions for Marvel's parent company, it opens a lot of doors. ( I actually completely forgot the last issues were delayed until I saw this video pop-up on my recommendations)
Why do no-talent hacks like Jar jar Abrams, Ruin Johnson, and their entitled little no-talent brats keep being allowed to pass off their horrendously bad fan-fic as actual entertainment? They write on a 5th-grade level.
Cadaverous is roughly a thousand times funnier if you read whatever his speech impediment is supposed to be as a stutter. "Oh no, it's C-c-c-cadaverous, c-c-c-come to k-k-k-kill me!"
You are so salty that the salt creature from Star Trek has to go on a diet. Next issue, Tony blasts the cyborg zombies with a some old school flame thrower built in a cave out of a box of scraps.
The more I hear about this story the more it feels like JJ JR is using it to slam on his dad. Like Goro to and Hayo Miyuzaki. Except that Goro is a good Director in his own right.
Thank your Sash for reminding world that Amazing Spider-Girl and Renew Your Vows happened. Not knocking this book but let’s not take credit away from others for doing something you did sooner.
If anyone out there wants to see a story of Peter Parker's kid taking up the family mantle, check out May Mayday Parker in her late 90s to mid 2000s Spider-girl series. It's a lot more entertaining and uplifting than here.
FINALLY!!!! We finally found a champion who will defend us the unsung minority who loves pineapple on their pizza. I am months late making this comment, but I just found this channel. If you ever write your own fan fiction.....I mean comic, can you have all the characters talk in your cadaver voice?
Tony Stark looked like Tommy Chong, and he had to be kinda burned out to have all this knowledge about Cadaverous yet not been doing anything about him over the 12 years. I mean, he completely dropped the ball on knowing he had dug up and cyber-zombied the 'Vengers, yet knew everything about his gear, plan, and everything. This feels very meh. I'm glad I skipped it.
The more follow Sasha's reviews for this series, the more enjoy them, though see the flaws in J.J. Abrams's son's Spidey series. I feel as though I'm in the Andrew Garfield Spider-man universe with how this world is portrayed. Seriously, grey skies, moody peter, and a tone that's wants to be a serious drama but also has out of place awkward humor that doesn't belong.
Late to the party but has anyone pointed out that the man Ben saves looks an awful lot like Greg Grunberg? I know Abrams like to put him in everything he does as a good luck charm, even his comics?
Quick question Was there ever a comic in which Peter Parker’s daughter was gay? Because I remember that happening but not where and I can’t find prove of it. Am I crazy?
soooo... this was only hyped because JJ Abrams huh? because yeah, this is nothing new or innovative. even down to Peter missing a limb. or having a kid become spider-man. it's just really it's so far not shocked or caught me by surprise with anything.
Hearing about this story just makes me upset, like there's this mediocre story written by a writer (who I'd have hoped would have actually stepped in more given how amateurish something hyped up like this turned out to be) and his son when there are so many talented writers out there. Like cool, you're bonding with your son making a comic but it should've been a fan comic that you announce in a normal tweet. Not a hyped up official comic book people have to spend their money on. This just feels weird
So bad writing glossed over with cliché emotional scenes, bland attempts at comedy, and mystery. Sounds like typical Abrams fare. Also, Cadaverous definitely sounds like a twelve year old trying too hard to come up with something badass.
JJ Abrams is mediocre at best, and he never has an ending planned. I don't have any hopes for this comic, honestly, as I didn't when it first came out.
I was actually a bit excited when I heard the news that there was going to be a J.J. Wait a minute, this isn't the Star Wars TROS review.
He should just stick to writing his version of *Star Wars: Episode VIII*
The most enjoyable thing for me about the series is your dramatic reading.
Gotta love her Batman voice lol
2:28
why does Peter look like Keanu Reeves?
I thought i was going nuts
Actually he looks to me a lot like Robert Evans. Which isn't helped by the fact that in this comic Peter is apparently a conflict journalist (the exact same profession that Robert Evans has)
JJ's obsession with magic blood returns!
Maybe they will accidentally discover immortality here too lol
@@CasuallyComics well that prediction aged well.
Zombie cyborgs don’t feel the same ever since I was traumatized by apokolips war
It's kinda cool seeing a grown up Riri Williams in this. I'm not even a Riri fan, but it's a nice non-MCU Marvel reference.
its kinda less cool if you meta read it as them being asked to by marvel since riri has plans to be in the mcu
"When you're as salty as me you need to balance it out" 😂
Amen Sasha. Let the pineapples lay on pizza different strokes for different folks. Applies to food as much as anything else. Please no. At least Snyder knows the characters, I'll take him any day of the week.

"Spider-man's blood is special because of science his dad did!"
Aunt May is in this?! seriously she's immortal! she's gotta be like 90+ in this
More like 100+.
You know, before she had to retire to raise Peter, Aunt May worked as a host in EC comics....
I miss Mayday! She was my whole love. And Wild Thing.

Or maybe you're thinking of Batwoman?? Red and black outfit and red hair?
