I'm a huge fan of the Golden Girls, but I can't conceive of a successful remake of the show. The way I see it a large part of the success of the original series is that they found the right actors to play the characters, and there was a chemistry between them that worked so well that we can't expect to find such a combination again.

I watched this show when I was in my teens and, loved it! My friends thought I was a bore for watching it but, they never gave it a chance because it’s old ladies. They didn’t understand how fierce it was and, boldly taking on topics at the time. Golden Girls is awesome.

Same here! Only watched it with my Dad, who said they reminded him of his mother & Sisters-I actually think they, including my Dad, could run circles around these ladies!!! Sitting here watching this, I could hear my Dad's roaring laughter-Golly! I miss that Wonderful man!!! But I sure appreciate the smiles in remembrance of This, & watching the reactions to All In The Family,& Sanford & Sons.
Love that he actually enjoyed it, & laughed at them, instead of freaking out, or passing out like some of the PC NUTJOBS would! We were truly lucky to have had so many Great shows that dealt with issues with a laugh,& just gave us an escape from the daily grind of life, with Laughter being the Best medicine to Cure Any day! "Comedy"shows of today are soooo flat in comparison.

Sophia was the Greatest. Even Dorothy had a mouth on her too. They did something about her too. This show was classic. Hands down

Sophia was the reason I watched the show, to be quite honest. She cracked me up more than the other three combined. Estelle Getty was a little pistol.
I have to admit, my heart dropped just a tiny bit when you were like “I don’t know who that is” when they referenced Roy Orbison, but I do know that not everyone has the same musical background as I do. I definitely recommend you check him out. His voice was absolutely amazing and one of a kind, very soothing. He sang songs like Oh Pretty Woman, Crying, and later on, You Got It and A Love So Beautiful, not to mention his work with the Traveling Wilburys.

Roy Orbison was a singer and songwriter who was most popular in the 1960's. He passed away in 1988. You've heard his songs in ads, on TV, in movies; plenty of them have been covered by other artists and translated into other languages: Pretty Woman, Only the Lonely, Crying, Blue Bayou, You Got It, etc. Anyway, he was albino, and wore dark sunglasses or tinted glasses all the time, hence Dorothy's joke. Bono (from U2) styles himself a bit like Orbison: the sunglasses, singing and writing style. My father is a big fan of Orbison.

Roy Orbison was a singer from the 60's and 70's. I think he was a country performer. He always wore sunglasses.

Did you ever start watching the show on Hulu? I watch the show every single day, and I still come back to your videos every now and then because it’s nice to change things up and watch some reactions. I specifically searched for this one because I remembered your reaction to Sophia’s comments when Blanche’s plus size daughter showed up. Harsh, but hysterical! You can’t beat this show! It’s so good! Just a look from Dorothy or Sophia in many moments cracks me up!

My face when you mouthed "I don't know who Roy Orbison is"...😮😮😮😮 He's an old time rock n roll singer. "Oh Pretty Woman"... "Crying"..."You've Got It"..."Only The Lonely and "In Dreams". (A whole lot more but that's just some of them)!!! Out of the four of them Sophia and Rose are my favorite ladies. I can't imagine them doing a reboot of this show. These four strong ladies had awesome chemistry...excellent comedic delivery and writers. I hope that you have a wonderful and blessed day my friend!!! 🙂🙂🙂🙂 🐧🐧

After watching this video, I CERTAINLY recommend some Roy Orbison songs..
For instance, "Oh, Pretty Woman" and "You Got it" was probably a few of his most well known songs, he was part of The Traveling Wilburys too with Tom Petty. In the video for the Traveling Wilburys song "End of the Line" they put Roy Orbison's guitar in a chair throughout the video as their way to pay homage to him.. And they put a picture of him in the video too
