- A grandmother loses her cool after a suspect package is found in her laptop. Officers in Birmingham stub out a couple's plan to make a quick buck. And high traces of cocaine are found in Gatwick.
In Gatwick and Bristol Airports in England customs agents check baggage and travellers to uphold allowances and prevent illicit activity and substances from entering the UK.

This is a typical and well known behavior of some foreigners , when guilty and under pressure they pretend they do not speak the language so when they get caught they have an excuse . But luckily these officers are experienced enough to see through this childish trick .
Funny thing about the language barrier is is that acting stupid looks the same no matter what language you speak or don't speak

I've done that, too. Hasn't everyone? You wear comfy travel clothes, then change at your destination if you're stopping for a meal or something as soon as you leave the airport

That entire airport is so cross contaminated with cocaine, and the ion scanner run by untrained staff, I am sure everyone's baggage would test positive.
They omitted to X ray the couple as they could have swallowed drug packets as in one other case!

When I was travelling to Asia, I ALWYS got stopped. Even when I had a medical boot on, I had to take it off and get into the scan machine. People always say they are stopped because they are black or brown or green. I’m blonde, blue eyes and a senior citizen. These people just do their jobs to protect their countries from bad and dishonest people. Each time, after I was cleared, I thanked them for being diligent.
The customs agents are excellent. They know and have seen every trick in the book!!!
They probably see the same things over and over, day in and day out, and get used to it quickly.

I've just noticed that yeah, changing clothes would be weird on an airport in some situations. I did this some years ago at an international airport, because I wanted to look fancy for my fiance after wearing comfy baggy clothes the whole trip. I was very young, short height, traveling alone, really shy behavior. I looked like a teenager, and changing clothes would be a odd situation, omg I was so lucky to not being asked by officers for suspicious behaviour. I would be scared as hell, and probably started to cry due severe anxiety lmao.
Changing clothes isn’t very unusual. We do it quite often for business meetings when we have the company picking us up from the airport.
Depends on the weather too I’ve done that so many times but I just changed after coming out from the checkpoint!

watching this series always reminds me of the time I got pulled aside and patted down by security at o’hare because a sniffer dog flagged my prescription meds (I take methylphenidate- which is a controlled substance) which hey at least the dog was doing its job! Stopped traveling with more meds than I needed after that 😂

Drug dogs are trained to sniff out things like cocaine, which Concerta (methylphenidate) and other ADHD meds are semi close to- I’m guessing the dog in question only flagged me because people do abuse those kinds of drugs and I had a full bottle on me at the time. My guess is as good as any, though! Could have very well been a fluke but security wanted to pull me aside and double check anyways
When my mom was married to my brothers dad he lived in England first time we flew we went from LAX to Houston and from Houston to Heathrow and to Gatwick and leaving Heathrow my pants hand a metal button on the front and it set the alarm off and I had a little toy car in my pocket they pulled me aside mind u I'm 6 years old thinking I'm about to go to jail it scared me so bad bcuz isaw cops and was like what did ido all for a toy car lol but made me feel safe honest
Never happenes to me for mph but after I left the military I got constantly flagged for explo sives. Had to throw out all of my backbacks and boots 🫣
I was flying in from CR once. Hadn't shaved in a while, looked and was dressed scrapily. I got the full search. The best part was the guy who went through my luggage gave me packing tips to help my booze make it back w/o breaking. :)

from what i've seen in my countrys version of this show (which also encompasses freight flights and harbour customs) there is quiet a lot that these customs officers pull out of the circulation. tons of Drugs, worth millions that get smuggled hidden in some containers or boxes.
Shows like this are a good representation in showing how they achieve that.

They generally have people form a single line so that everyone gets sniffed. They normally do it a chokepoint like a doorway, or something like that.

In my country Norway there is a strict limit of how much cash that can be carried when arriving and leaving the country, without declaring them. NOK 25 000. You don't have to pay anything when declaring the cash. The customs seize 20 per cent of all cash you have as a penalty charge if you don't declare the cash. And it will be reported to the police.

I think they are incredible animals and I can only guess why they only do 1 'specialty'. Pot dogs have been retired in many countries, they aren't looking for pot any longer and that is all the dogs did. I hope they all got a nice retirement, it seemed like they lived for their job.

Now I could understand that. What I don’t understand is why he can’t appeal the seizure when he gets back from vacation? He should be allowed to dispute the seizure (verify the cash/income) when his holiday is done and he’s back home and had time to gather up the necessary documentation.

My last vacation was prepaid and included airfare, accommodations, meals, and some add on excursions, for 2 totalling a bit over $6k. My wife and I each had $3k cash on us for any other vacation purchases we chose.

if you can prove, it's not from criminal activity, then you get it back, or they have to prove it from criminal activity,
Don't carry large sums of cash, ever, even if you're driving your car and the police pull you over they can pretend that they think that it's money you earned from drugs and they'll confiscate it and record it being a much much lesser amount than amount of cash you had and you'll never get it all back if any at all that you do get back. Put your money in the bank and carry your debit or credit card, it's the only way.
Or buy Travelers checks.
