    There’s plenty of young people in NW unless you live closer to MD. Pretty much it has the most nightlife out of all of DC. U st, Adams Morgan, Dupont, etc

      North of those areas is 100% what I was referring to.

    I love you, gorgeous woman. U brighten the world every day. U make everyone smile when u walk in the room. U work your arse off and inspire thousands of people every single day and u should b so proud of the woman u have become. U r kind, smart as heck, beautiful, and such a hard worker. If I may ask, what did you study at AU? My husband and I are planning on moving to D.C. for grad school and he has heard the same things about GW being just for the name and tends to be less about the staff and how well they prepare you, but his subject will be Psychology and I’m not sure if that is the same for all programs. He hadn’t considered AU, but may now!

    • @elisabethhuijskens
      @elisabethhuijskens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I studied Communications for Social Change and Advocacy. AU is worth the consideration! I also asked several people in the work force in DC before I made my decision if AU is as reputable as GW and everyone was like 100% yes!

    SW (Navy Yard) is great but oh so expensive. Better make more than 90k a year.

    • @elisabethhuijskens
      @elisabethhuijskens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@elisabethhuijskens I've lived and worked there for nine years. Navy Yard is expensive. Good on you for your budgeting skills. I was considering moving back as I've a high paying offer in Georgetown but I have e tbeen there for three years (been working in Qatar). Any recommendations for apartments in Navy Yard?

    What are your thoughts on NoMa? Is it a good place to live for young professionals?

  • @JessicaRoseHood

    Great video! I'm moving to DC in August and this definitely helped me. I was considering more northwest DC like dupont or logan circle, do you have any opinions on that area? For context, I am a recent college grad starting my first job (which will actually be outside the city but I want to live in DC proper) Thanks so much!!

    • @lowusua2416
      @lowusua2416 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As one who has lived in Pentagon City (Arlington, VA), Capitol Hill (NE), and Columbia Heights/U Street area (NW)- I can say that I LOVE NW. Dupont Circle and Logan Circle are both great- very central and walkable to other neighborhoods like Adams Morgan, Foggy Bottom/ Georgetown and U Street, TONS of restaurants, bars, etc. So overall great. Just depends on what you're looking for.

    • @JessicaRoseHood
      @JessicaRoseHood 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lowusua2416 thanks so much for the advice!! I so appreciate it :) what are your thoughts on Arlington? Looks like they have some really nice apartments but it’s definitely out of the main action areas

    • @lowusua2416
      @lowusua2416 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JessicaRoseHood I loved Arlington because it was super close to the city and also close to amenities like Target, a good grocery store, the metro, a mall. But, I didn't really go out in Arlington. I went into DC because that's where my life really was. So, again, it's about priorities. I had a car when I lived in Arlington and also was across the street from the metro so it was fine. But, after a late night, you'll definitely rack up those Uber/Lyft costs because metroing at night on the weekends is not awesome. But, there are some great areas like Clarendon and Courthouse that are great on their own if you have friends in Va. It truly just depends on your priorities.

      Hey Jessica! I agree with Lindsey!! DuPont / Logan Circle are really fun. I lived a little north of there and it was a little too slow for me. But where you looking would be really fun!

    My boyfriend was born and raised in DC but I'm from Baltimore County which is much more suburban and car dependent. He keeps trying to get me to move here and I want to.....but omg driving in this city gives me so much anxiety. He can't relate because he's used to it, but I'm having such a hard time finding a compromise. I'm looking in Alexandria but its so expensive (we want to buy a house eventually), and I've looked in the surrounding Maryland suburbs which I find more comfortable for myself, but the traffic to commute to DC is so bad. I'm looking at NoMa and Capitol Hill as potential options and I'm just starting to come to terms with not driving anymore unless I'm visiting family.
