Thanks. It made me emotional to see the Cave. My grandad Paddy Maxwell was one of the men who made the Cave into a place where families could go for a holiday. It got them away from the struggles of life, and back to nature. They would walk from Gibshill to get there. I have photos of them at the Cave. Thanks again.
I’m going to try find this today. Inverclyde has got so many beautiful places. I’ve been once about 20 years ago but have no idea how I got there. Great wee video
Many thanks mate, hope you have an idea where it is from the video. It's on the very sharp bend heading up to Cornalees, and then you'll see a faint path that will take you to the cave. It's a stunning sight. Have a great day🤟
My dad used to take me here when I was a kid. We called it "billy connellys cave" coz it was a film location for Elephats Graveyard. lots if great memories.
Sounds magic mate, I had been up the cut loads of times and strangely never heard of this until my sister told me about it. We had a great wee day there, what a cave..just amazing
This is a very cool place. I have not been in a few years might need to go back for another look. I have seen old photos showing how this once looked and it was mighty impressive. Great little video 🙂
Cheers mate, Been up the cut many many times and I had never heard of this.lol...So when my Sis told me about it I was looking forward to seeing it. It's a stunning sight, takes the breath away..will definitely go back.
I’m from Greenock and never heard of or seen this hidden gem existed, it’s now on my to do list thanks for sharing, got a pretty good idea where it is 👍🏼👍🏼
I hadn't heard of the place despite coming from Greenock and going up the cut many many times. I looked into it online, some incredible photos of the place from years ago

@@fevertree1957 it's on the road up to Cornalees, at a tight bend.
Although at the moment, the road is closed as the carriageway is badly cracked
This is our magical place 🍄💙🙏
It sure is, a hidden gem
I've thought about going here for years but still not done it. I'm sure Elephant's Graveyard was filmed here in the 70's starring Billy Connolly.
It's well worth a visit mate, stunning seeing the cave.
And aye, Elephants Graveyard had a bit in it filmed here.

@@ScotlandandMe thanks. I know the corner so should be okay.
Looked a great little walk. It's on my bucket list for sure. Might find some fly agaric too. 🍄 And you just know there's fish in that stream. 😂
It's a great wee walk, enjoy it when you do it

@@JI7NKJ cheers mate...aye we are called Greenockians 🤟😎🤟
Made a video on this spot myself, love taking photos here and very tranquil too.
Aye it's a surreal place🤟
I’ve not been there in decades. We found a dippers nest down at the river one year.
That's would have been cool...

I thought it was but I was bird daft. Still am a bit.
I’m sure the front was more closed than that. I’m sure the wall covered more of the cave at one point.

Old Roman Bridge
