i have the st. croix avid series 7ft M-F and the Avid walleye 8ft ML-F, the avid series everytime i hook i land it, but the Avid walleye sometimes it misses during retrieval, but i like the far casting and sensitivity of avid walleye.
Just got mine, love it.
Just ordered the 5'8" rod!
Going to have this one day 😍😍
I prefer a shorter rear grip, is Avid or Eyecon shorter on the 5'6 ?
The Eyecon rear grips, in general, and shorter than Avid Walleye’s rear grips. In the 5’8”, it’s about ¾” shorter.
Do I have to buy different rods for each technique ?
In short, you don’t, it depends on how specialized you want to get. For general walleye applications, a medium lite power, fast action (MLF) will likely get the job done for multiple popular applications, however, we build special lengths, powers, and actions for the angler to be able to focus on a presentation. An example of this would be the 5’8” heavy power, fast action rods in all our walleye series, these specific rods were built to fish heavy jigs in robust currents like the Detroit river. The 7’1” medium power, moderate fast blanks were built for Rapalas popular Jig-n-Rap lure iconic amongst walleye anglers, the 7’1” medium power, fast action for the Jig-n-Rap. At one time anglers voiced to us that the perfect rod for these lures didn’t exist, so we went to work with Rapala pro staff anglers for years to dial in these rods to both work the bait correctly and lang the fish once it was hooked. These rods even go as far as to offer extended foregrips, again, requested by anglers for these specific presentations.
