    OMG, my Piscifun Honor 2000 is my favorite reel hands down. I have never seen anybody mentioned them in a video. I put it with a Scheel's NOS 7' ML ($75 on sale, half price) and it is awesome for my application. You have great taste in equipment when it comes to value and function. Love your videos.

    Hi Tom. I broke my 6'10" ML XFST Mojo Bass St. Croix rod. They upgraded them to Trigon with a higher price point (175ish). Worth it? Is there another that is closer to the retired Mojo Bass you'd recommend?

    Tom I have a question on why you use braid over full florocabon?
    I have found braid terrible in windy rigging conditions as it blows all over.

  • @erikbeckwith2571
    @erikbeckwith2571 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Tom, so what is your favorite knot for connecting your 12lb fluorocarbon leader to the 10lb braid, keeping in mind casting through the guides with a longer lead? Btw, I used your power slip bobber approach on Mille lacs earlier this month and put the hurt on them! Your tips about electronics have really given me more confidence in what I’m seeing!

    Awesome video, brother! I just picked up a 7ft HMG, medium heavy/fast, with the SLX DC for a reel, to do all my walleye fishing with. Had a HMG medium/fast 7ft rod for all my walleye fishing with, and it seemed like it had too much give or flexibility. Giving it more of a drag vs a pop. Would love to hear your opinion on this.. Looking forward to the next videos.

    Ugly Stik Elite 7ft Medium spinning rod with a Lews spinning reel is a great value. Can get it for under a hundred bucks if ya wait for sales. Ugly Stik doesn't get the love it deserves. I also use a St.Croix Triumph 7' medium fast with a Penn spinning reel...Both combos perform well for all my needs. Not a bass guy so not sure there. I have a 7' Lews Origin Medium casting combo that I don't love. 15lb. Spider Wire to a 10 lb. Floro leader.

    Tom- Imcurious what your thoughts are on the St Croix Eyecon rods are and why you like mojo bass over them? Seems the same sizes, power and and actions between the two so what do you think the differences are? Eyecons are supposedly specific to walleye fishing and I’m just wondering what the differences are between the two - thanks!

    • @joeboilee
      @joeboilee 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure if this helps you out with a decision but in my research, eyecons are sc2 material and mojos are sc3 material. Sc3 I think would offer a little more sensitivity for almost the same price. And mojos also have ipc technology whatever that means but not on the eyecons. Hope that helps out.

    What's the difference you like better in the Mojo bass rod opposed to the Eyecon series rods?

    • @xCruZChaos
      @xCruZChaos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mojo bass is built on an SCIII blank, while eyecons are built on an SCII. Also the handle is much more comfortable on the mojo bass series (personal opinion obviously but still, the handle on the Eyecon is weird).

    • @cincinnatiking8008
      @cincinnatiking8008 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xCruZChaos I've been thinking about buying a mojo bass, but I keep hearing people saying that the tip breaks very easily. Have you had any problems with yours?

    • @xCruZChaos
      @xCruZChaos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cincinnatiking8008 I had no issues when I had my mojo bass. I have since sold that rod and upgraded, but I still liked it for the price. I do prefer the Avid X more though after using one of those too.
      I would honestly say the only way people are breaking the tips is because they swing fish into the boat with the rods and end up high sticking the fish. Basically holding the rod straight up and down while a fish is dangling there, but that can break any rod. St. Croix also has a pretty nice warranty program, so if you do bust a rod, you’ll get a replacement or an upgrade fairly quickly and cheaply.

    Don't put all your eggs in one basket with St. Croix Rods and their warranty. I use to think the same till my favorite 7'O" ML Legend tip broke. Now all my St. Croix Rods are mostly bought back in the 90's and I new/remembered the lifetime warranty on my Legend thinking I had a rod for life or new it would be replaced if something should happen to it. St. Croix Rods wouldn't replace my broken Legend(tip broke somehow transporting it) and would only offer me a percentage off any new rod of my choice. So, I hope any St. Croix Rod owner never get's the misconception their rod warranty will get them a new replacement free of charge unless upon inspection by St. Croix Rods your defective rod was due to their craftsmanship. The lifetime warranties on rods needs to be addressed with the manufacture at the time of purchase to understand the details of their warranties if concerned down the road. With my Legend I personally thought St. Croix Rods gave me a raw deal because at the time I purchased the rod it was expensive and their now equivalent rod to my Legend cost double what I paid. I'm sure if I had been sponsored, was on the Pro-Staff or worked in the fishing industry and still new people at St. Croix Rods like I use to my free replacement might of been a different story rather then being treated like some other old consumer has been. Either way I decided it wasn't worth dealing with St. Croix Rods since I don't fish as much as I use too and I didn't feel like paying St. Croix "X" amount of dollars for another rod. Instead I have about a 6' 6" St. Croix Legend now, lol.
