- The Public Library Parks Pass has enabled tens of thousands of Californians to visit their state parks at very little cost to taxpayers. So why is the program now in danger?
UPDATE (6/25/2024): According to the California State Parks Foundation, California's legislature reached a budget agreement with the Governor’s office that guarantees $6.75 million in funding for this program. This ensures the California State Library Parks Pass program will continue beyond December 31, 2024!
This is nuts! Access is everything. I hope they figure out how to keep it. Great video!
It was nice while it lasted. I told a lot of people about this but didn't take advantage of it. I just haven't been to my local library in years. I have friends who have used it for surf fishing and hiking. I've been wanting to pick up the Golden Poppy Pass but $125 is a lot. Especially when I could find free street parking for a lot of places I go to.
Yeah, that's where I'm at... I don't know that I spend enough in day use fees to make the Golden Poppy Pass worth it for me (by comparison, the America The Beautiful pass pays itself off very quickly).
Excellent video
wow, thanks for the information. I thought the pass was like a permanent thing. It probably won't do much, but I'll reach out to the state park foundation and my representative like you said
Thanks! To be honest, I thought it was a standing policy, too. Will be sad to see it go if it does (which is looking very likely).
