Thanks for this video! We're first time calf owners - we bought a 12 day old heifer, we've had her 2 days. She's drinking 2 gallons a day, 1 gallon in the morning and 1 gallon in the evening. She seems happy and energetic. We take her for walks on the halter, she's not a big fan - but she's getting the hang of it. I like to spend a lot of time in the barn with her - I want her to get used to humans and not worry about my 3 year old being around her. I'm really concerned about scours or over feeding her. At this point, after she finishes the second 2qt bottle (or is close to finishing) she clearly doesn't wany anymore milk. I've used this as a que that she's had enough. She eats a little calf-starter feed, and when we walk her, she likes to nibble grass - but we don't let her do too much. I'm hoping we're doing everything right, because so far she's super affectionate and a joy to be around. If she dies because i do something stupid, I'll be devastated.
Great content! We found your channel today and have enjoyed your videos. What brand of milk replacer is your favorite? We have a 29 pound premature calf we’re trying to keep alive right now.
We have a bottle calf who was given to us after it was weaned, at about 12 weeks old. We have a bag of milk replacer. The calf has been weaned for 3 or 4 weeks and is much smaller than other calves its age. We’d like to use our bag of milk replacer to supplement the calf’s 100% grass diet and hope to see it grow some. How much milk replacer would you suggest feeding the calf at 12 weeks old and having been weaned for about 3 or 4 weeks. Thank you.
@@triciahill216 I would sprinkle about 1 cup of the milk replacer over couple of cups sweet grain and see how he/she takes to that. It’s tough on one that small to thrive on grass only. Give it that little extra protein and think you’ll see extra growth and energy. Good luck.

You’re first on the list! We could call her “Bossie” for
short.
Macy votes Willow
Millie votes Bessie
I vote for Minnie
May the best woman win!
Thanks for the suggestions. We're going to put all of the names in a hat and draw one out.
Since it's a freemartin, I was thinking Martin, but since she's a girl, I'm thinking Martina
Excellent suggestion! I like it.
Nice!

How about Chloe or Marley (suggested by Dora FFA)
Thanks to Dora, MO FFA for the suggested name. I appreciate the input. We'll put all the suggestions in a hat and draw one before the next video!
