    I hate Aeroplan's stupid "dynamic" pricing. Loved the old flat-rate system, which was actually pretty reasonably priced for points.

      It's not stupid, it makes sense. Though it does suck for consumers, they don't owe anyone any free flights

    "Any seat on any flight".
    |I just DO NOT believe it.
    Try doing a search on AC for a cash fare -- and then do the same search using points. A large number of the flights will disappear. I have experienced this MANY times when searching for flights out of Ottawa.

    Great tips Ricky. I saved a ton by redeeming Alaska Air Miles for business flights within Asia.

    I think the new Aeroplan program is great when you combine its use with the Aeroplan elite benefits. If you fly a lot of AC metal with mostly cash fare plus a bit of reward redemption on the side, Aeroplan can be of great value for frequent travellers, esp for those who reach 75K or 100K: priority e-upgrades, lounge access, waived change fees for reward tickets, 50% discounted reward redemptions, AC concierge service, free inflight wifi package, complimentary *Gold status for a friend, etc etc.
    It all depends on your travel patterns and how much you are spending. If you purely use Aeroplan as a rewards redemption platform, then probably it’s not the most ideal esp. under dynamic pricing. However, if you combine rewards redemption + AC elite benefits such as e-upgrades and 50% discount on reward tickets then it’s absolutely awesome: imagine flying from Toronto to Paris CDG in AC Signature Class for only 47K points ROUND TRIP when you combine 50% reward discount voucher for a Latitude fare with 22 e-upgrade credits - definite not possible under the old program.

      Sitting on a huge stack of Aeroplan points, CC premium and elite status holder and yet I don't seem to find a way to get a decent award redemption for the flights i am interred in, with the new AC dynamic pricing redemption scam.

    • @PrinceofTravel

      And indeed, that's what Aeroplan wants - to drive further engagement in the program which you can't blame them for

    Why not just save your points for your next trip. By going on a different trip and paying for your trip with your credit card instead of redeeming your pints right away. The points don’t expire.

    Alaska's program seems great but only if you have a few years to rack up all those points necessary (140,000 in spending minus the signup bonus). Versus using your aeroplan points immediately.

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, Aeroplan points can be a lot easier to earn. If your travel goals are varied I'd recommend using miles like Alaska towards their sweet spots while using Aeroplan as a general backup for other trips

    The problem is trying to find a (business) flight plan within the stated number of miles required. In my case, bkk-yyz. Search results yield miles required into the 100s of 1000s, not just the 85,000 stated. Either that or it is a mixed cabin, with the Pacific leg in economy! Duh!!!

    Flair Airlines is one of the worst airlines here in Canada. Seats don't recline, they charge you for everything, even the personal belongings on board shouldn't be bigger than a purse or very tiny backpack, and usually get delays of over 4 hours, I would never retake Flair Airlines.

    • @PrinceofTravel
      @PrinceofTravel  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While not defending or endorsing them, just want to state out some facts:
      they are a budget airlines and uses the budget airlines business model, which is to unbundle everything.
      Personal belongings can be bigger than a tiny bag pack or a purse, as long as it fits under the seat in front of you. Few times I brought a full size hershel backpack in without issue or questioning. And it fits under the seat.

    After a short and hopeful moment that the new program will indeed bring a better value for its holders, supported by an extremely aggressive marketing strategy including by POT, we just realize that Aeroplan is just another scam program. For those, including AC, who may thing that this statement is exaggerated and harsh, here is my question to you: can you give an ACCEPTABLE rationale why the cash dynamic pricing is far from being in line from the exorbitant points redemption pricing?
