One of the first songs I heard where I thought "Yeah, I really need to get into bass" that was 10 years ago and this is still one of my favorites. Thanks Julia!
Charlie is playing both parts live at the same time on his 7 string guit-monster. He is originally a Bay area boy who definitely gets his funk pocket from the likes of Chester Thompson as much as anyone else. A total Badass... (example link of him in action below. There are many!) th-cam.com/video/_ln6Zwxo6ZA/w-d-xo.html
The 1st baseline that blew mw away as a young musician was Joe Osborne on Larry Norman's "Forget Your Hexagram". It's a 1969 recording that used the bass melodically as well as laying the groove. Now that I have picked up the bass again after many years I think I'll break it down and learn it. I enjoy your videos. Would be interested to know your thoughts on this line.
That was awesome, very nice tune that you play so easily and so inspired. I love that movement with your right hand. As always you get me in the right mood for playing Thank you
Hi Julia love your videos. i have suggestion for a subject that are both bass and recording gear oriented beginner setup to record bass to computer and use computer as amp sim for all of us that hide in our basements and bedrooms playing :)
That metallic green with the white pickguard reminds me of Christmas for some reason. (Also reminds me of my Mustang Bass, it’s Sherwood Green with a mint pickguard)
Hi, well done cover, thans! It would be usefull if you would tell us something about the bass you use in the video in a couple of sentences. What model, what are the settings, why you have choosen it for the song… it is just 20 sec but could add a lot for the bass fans… :) like myself :)
In the b section where it walks G,B, the next note should actually be that C# instead of D which leads them into that Cmin7 change. Other than that sounds great!!
Hi Julia, du machst immer einen tollen Job! Daumen hoch. Da es sich aber um Bassvideos handelt wäre es schön wenn man diesen auch hören würde. Richte deinem Tonmenschen doch aus, er soll da mal was ändern. Herzlichen Dank dafür und weiterhin alles Gute.
Not the type of music or song that I would listen to, so I appreciate the feature because the bass line is pretty killer and does wonders for the song. Thanks!
I don't know this one .. Yet . once more I learn about new music from you . Last night while rubbing my wife's feet we played a new game .. Call out a Song to Alexa ( the one I bought for my wife has a gr8 bass sound ) you have to call the Song & the artist .. but the competition was to keep a nice ' Mood ' not disturb the vibes .. Lots of Motown etc . but you lose your turn as DJ if you get the artist wrong .. I started strong with Phyliss Nelson & Move closer & lasted about twenty minutes b4 I got called for changing up the Tempo to much with Billie jean .. Lol hard not to dance to that .. But my wife knows a lot of folk songs from the 60's & we had a good laugh .. Sometimes alexa does not understand my Scottish accent lol But It was a lot of fun .. Try it for a laugh ? we don't keep score but we have been playing for over 30 years now with name that tune & who sang it Ten points for each correct answer & bonus points for trivia about the artist or the meaning behind the lyrics ... Just for fun Kids But sometimes my wife cheats as she has a better phone & if I leave to fetch snacks & drinks she is very quick . I don't know how you could play Guess the Bass line ? Unless you had Prizes & a give away for answers .. But it might be fun near Festive Holiday's .. Just a suggestion .. Stay Frosty & wear your Mittens keep those hands safe & warm .. we are having an season of wind & rain here at the moment set to last .. Log fires yeah Hot chocolate .
That closed eye focus, get it, queen 💖
That's a nice finish on that Fender.

Your bass is great especially, intro.
Love it 👏
I love the glasses :)
I like the WAY youre concentrated on your bass...you have a degree of INTEGRATION that ALL goosd musicians should have ! 😉
I think you should cover Strawberry Fields Forever: start on the bass, then move to the cello.
Ahhhhh I did this on guitar for my univeristy recital for second year. It's a tough track but so much fun to play
Yeeees 👏👏💚
A great bass line is universal
really enjoyed your playing and the way you `re focussing on the music.
And the green Fender Bass makes a good match 😊

Very nice.
What a soulful song and sultry woman! Awesome, your passion is contagious. Have to go play bass now.

He played the guitar and bass line…at the same time. He plays a custom guitar with a lower ranger that lets him do both at the same time
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Please, play This must be the place - Talking Heads.
It's only special because of you! 😁
anyone know if Charlie performed this on a bass/guitar hybrid or recorded separately? Impressive either way, Charlie has a ridiculous pocket
yeah, he did it at the same time on his multiscale guitar
I’m almost certain that it is both together .
Rockin' the glasses, Julia....HOT!
Awesome right hand palm muting!!!
You're awesome.
Not the type of music or song that I would listen to, so I appreciate the feature because the bass line is pretty killer and does wonders for the song. Thanks!
When people ask me who my favorite bass players are , I will be including Julia Hofer
Waiting for top 5 rock basslines by you starting 1990 ending 2000
That's a nice Fender you have.
Great playing as ever but truthfully I'm just here for the stank faces this tune induces 🤣😂
