Umm….it’s as good as any I have seen. He sounded amazing. His background singers, actually, needed to be dialed back to hear his beautiful falsetto.
hes 41 years old, stop focusing on the fact that he doesn't look like a 24 year old anymore he's an amazing artist.
I started listening to his music around 3 years ago, only playing his full albums non-stop, one at a time. I couldn't contain my emotions and feelings from everything he and his teams put forth and through. And I'm really thankful for that because my cells respond to his music and artistry first and foremost. Then I stumbled upon the video of Untitled, it is sure not as surging as the latter that I mentioned thankfully haha. I still see it as extremely attractive and artsy. But the D'Angelo from 2015-2016, aye aye is as fine as great red wines go. I'm looking forward to his next project no matter what the decade :)

+Billy Jackson I've noticed the sound on the SNL stage has improved over the last year and a half. There was a period before that when the vocals just refused to sit in the mix. However, this is some next level shit right here. And that sexy lady, oh god the sexy lady.

I really love that the strings are mic'd, so that they can really be heard. They add a really luscious, sensual texture to the entire piece. When working with rhythm sections, I think that all strings should be mic'd, for this reason.

This is by far one of D'Angelo's best pieces of work. Love the strings and background singers with the simple yet effective choreography. As live performances go on SNL this is awesome. I too can't stop watching this.

I just want to preface this by saying I haven't really been exposed to D'Angelo's music before and wouldn't have considered myself a "fan" of his sound but I saw this on SNL and was (almost) literally floored by how amazing it was. I immediately came to TH-cam and re-watched these videos time and time again. Unbelievable. I got the CD and loved it. Proud to say I am now a fan.

Got dayum i mean got dayum actual music. There is so much drone music on the radio now hearing this is like breathing again. All i been hearin is look at the flic of the wrist and im a stoner on the radio. And yeah the strings section was definitely bobbin thier heads. The song came in smooth with some spanish guitar style. Nice and that breakdown at the end was so funky i had the stank face too. Lol. Thank God for some real music

I have no idea where I was 7 years ago and missed this gem. I have been listening to it nonstop. It was totally unexpected. Who is this brother on the guitar playing so beautifully and effortlessly? Just came back from a D'angelo show last night (Birmingham, UK) and i can honestly say it's the best live show i've ever seen. You can't really understand D's greatness until you see him perform live; his energy, vocal performance (somehow he sounds even better) and just overall stage show. He really interacts with the crowd and band, you feel like you're up there jamming with him. Magical.

From day one I have been a fanatic of D's music. Yet around this time last year I took up learning and playing the guitar. It has made enjoying music like this even more. Much respect to Isaiah Sharkey on the acoustic who I got to see perform live in my city and the legendary Jesse Johnson on the electric.
